BROOKLYN, NY – The National Association of Basketball Coaches and the American Cancer Society announced today that the four host schools of the 2012 Coaches vs. Cancer Classic to be played at Barclays Center in Brooklyn have been set.
BYU, Florida State, Notre Dame, and Saint Joseph’s will meet at Barclays Center for the Championship Rounds of the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic. The semifinal matchups will be held on Friday, November 16, and will be televised live on truTV. The finals will take place the following day, Saturday, November 17, beginning with the Consolation Game, followed by the Championship Game. Both of Saturday’s games will also be televised on truTV.
The complete bracket, including matchups and game times for the 2012 Coaches vs. Cancer Classic, will be announced at a later date.
Tickets for the Championship Round games at Barclays Center will go on sale Saturday, March 17 and may be purchased by visiting www.cvclassic.com or www.barclayscenter.com.

BYU – participating in its 6th consecutive NCAA Tournament after finishing this season with a 25-8 mark……led by senior forward Noah Hartsock (16.7 ppg, 1.6 bpg) and junior forward Brandon Davies (15.0 ppg, 7.3 rpg)…….Dave Rose, Head Coach of the Cougars since 2005, is second in BYU history in wins and had this to say about BYU’s participation: “It’s an honor for BYU to be selected to participate in the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic. Coaches vs. Cancer is a fantastic organization that continues to make a big impact in the fight against cancer. The Classic is annually one of the best in college basketball and will be a great opportunity for our team.”
Florida State – after finishing this season at 24-9 overall and being ranked #12 in the country, the ACC Tournament Champion Seminoles are looking forward to their fourth consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament…..led by junior guard Michael Snaer (14.1 ppg) and senior forward Bernard James (10.4 ppg, 2.3 bpg)…..Atlantic Coast Conference Coach of the Year Leonard Hamilton, in his tenth season leading the Seminoles, stated: “We are honored to have the opportunity to play in the 2012 Coaches vs. Cancer Tournament. As we have worked to improve our program, this tournament has developed into one of the most prestigious events in all of college basketball. The Coaches vs. Cancer Tournament is an event that is important for us because cancer has unfortunately touched all of our lives and this is just a small way in which we, as college basketball coaches, can contribute towards finding a cure.”
Notre Dame – finished this season with an overall record of 22-11, a surprising 14-6 mark in the Big East, good for third place and a #23 national ranking…..will be making their 13th consecutive post-season appearance…..led by junior forward Jack Cooley (12.5 ppg, 9.2 rpg) and sophomore guard Eric Atkins (12.4 ppg, 4.1 apg)…..Head Coach Mike Brey, in his 12th season in South Bend, had this to say about participating in the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic: “We’re very honored to be part of the 2012 Coaches vs. Cancer field. I have been very involved with the CvC program for many years so being part of this basketball event is very special for me. Playing the tournament at the new Barclays Center in Brooklyn will be exciting for the teams and their fans.”
Saint Joseph’s – looking to win the National Invitational Tournament after finishing the regular season with a 20-13 mark, including 9-7 in the Atlantic 10 Conference…..led by junior guard Carl Jones (16.3 ppg, 3.2 apg) and sophomore guard Langston Galloway (15.9 ppg)……Head Coach Phil Martelli, in his 17th year with Saint Joseph’s and their all-time winningest coach said: “It is an honor to be participating in the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic. The Coaches vs. Cancer Program has done so much good but still, there is much to do. Hopefully our participation in this Classic will raise awareness and much needed dollars.”

About the National Association of Basketball Coaches
