Nerlens Noel Has Torn ACL, Out For The Season


Kentucky freshman center Nerlens Noel suffered a torn ACL during the Wildcats’ 69-52 loss to the Florida on Tuesday. Noel hyper-extended his left knee after coming down from a chase-down block with just over eight minutes to play in the game. The 2012 SLAM HS All-American’s injury just changed the complexion of the 2013 NBA Draft, in which he was expected to be a top pick:

    honestly, i don’t think this hurts him much as long as he comes out this year. the ACL tear isn’t what it used to be. And this draft is weaker than Tyreke Evans left hand.

    A high profile age limit casualty – you knew it was coming eventually. The owners don’t want anymore apprentices in their league and the age limit goes against the “free market” concept. Both the L and the kids/fans have a point; both sides need to find a “happy medium” somewhere.

    Either you can go straight from High School or you have to stay at least 2 or 3 years in college that way the kids have a chance to avoid this kind of accident and the college programs can actually have a chance of putting together decent dynasty. With all this underdeveloped “raw” talent in the League it seems easier for more prep to prospects. But you can bet that it still won’t be too many trying to go in straight from HS, and the ones that do go to school have a chance to be more polished and produce right away.
