John Henson Jordan Brand Classic Diary 3

John gets a taste of the New York media.

While he spends the week in New York City preparing for the Jordan Brand Classic, John Henson shares the experience with SLAMonline! Check back all week for more of the latest and greatest in Henson Happenings! For his first diary, click here. As told to Justin Walsh

Today was a long day. I woke up early for breakfast, had some cereal. Then we had practice- A lot of drills and a little bit of the players easing into the event. After that we had Media Day. We were all interviewed by the press, some of us on TV, some of us by the major media. I did a couple of television interviews, ESPN and somebody else (sorry I can’t remember if you conducted it and I don’t know). I also talked to Inside Hoops and Houston Preps.

After that, we got on the bus (we have our own tour bus with the Jordan logo on it- it’s good stuff) & then went to eat. When we got back to the hotel we had a signing session, we signed like… a bunch of little papers, signed probably 20 or 30 balls, it was alright. Then I got myself a nap, went to bed from 3:30 to 5:00.

Then we went bowling. I was looking forward to it but I ended up being horrible at it, I think I got somewhere in the range of 20 points in six frames so I just stopped and got some food to eat, just chill. I was happy because I got to meet Vince Carter, Fat Joe, Jadakiss, there were a bunch of people in there I had a blast. That Lucky Strikes bowling joint is really nice.

Later, we hopped on the bus and got back to the hotel. John Wall, myself, Avery and Demarcus went over to Champs- Avery bought some shoes, the rest of us just thought about it, hah. On the way back we ate some McDonalds (need to get big) before we came back to the hotel. I was real tired so I just called it a night. Chances are you wouldn’t think that a fun event with the game you love would be tiring, but all the walking around, practice, and media events we go through really make you tired at the end of the day. Most of us take naps in the middle of the day, just chill while we aren’t busy at events. Alright, time to call it a night. Check the next one, it’s got potential.
