The Reel Deal

DeAndre Jordan makes no excuses.

As a high school senior, DeAndre Jordan was hanging from baskets and on the tip of the tongues of many as one of the best big men in his class. Now, after just one season as a Texas A&M Aggie, Jordan is hangin’ on the Clippers bench. At just 20, though, he’s got ample time to find his way in the League.—Adam Fleischer

Give him 3 years. He’s shown signs that he can definitely rebound and get blocks when camby has been injured. He just needs more playing time.

This kid needs to get his head straight, but he’s got the size and atheleticism to be a really good shot blocker and rebounder in the L. The question is whether he’d be content doing only those things if he doesn’t improve a lot offensively.

Sliding to the 2nd round might have been the best thing to happen to him. It let him know that potential alone wont guarantee him a spot in the league.

Jordan looked good, though raw, in his limited playing time last year. He threw down 23 and 12 with 4 blocks on Bynum. Of course, Bynum threw down 42/15/3 against him in the same game. When the Clippers pick up Blake Griffin this year, they’re going to be a pretty talented team. Baron Davis at the 1. Eric Gordon at the 2. Al Thornton…no, scratch that. Some combination of Blake Griffin, Zach Randolph, Chris Kaman, Marcus Camby, and DeAndre Jordan at the 4 and 5. The talent is there. The mindset isn’t (hello Diddy & Randolph). And they’ll never win as long as they still have bums like Dunleavy and Sterling running the front office.

Ok, is it just me, or does it seem like every time any piece about a Center comes out on SLAM somebody says “man I wouldn’t mind having him back up bynum.”? I swear it happens like every day. Just saying…
