Sampson to the Big East

Lavin grabs verbal from high profile wing

By Antonio Curro – Midwest PUNKS Editor

St. Johns struck big on the recruiting trail landing arguably their top recruit in years as 2011 swingman Jakarr Sampson of Brewster Academy (NH) verbally committed to the Red Storm on Thursday.  Sampson is a consensus top 50 2011 national talent and has been regarded as high as Top 20 by some recruiting experts.

This is a major coupe for new Head Coach Steve Lavin as Sampson has excellent length and versatility that he pairs with instinct, skill, and explosive athleticism to make for a high major impact talent at the next level.  Sampson is originally from Ohio and transferred to Brewster this fall after attending St. Vincent St. Mary’s in Ohio his previous three years.

Sampson played with the King James Shooting Stars during the grassroots travel season.
