Andre Marhold Picks Duquesne

The Duquesne Dukes received a
commitment from Andre Marhold this past weekend. According to Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, the senior small forward verbally committed to head coach Ron Everhart on Sunday. The 6-6 Pittsburgh native attends North Mecklenburg High School in Charlotte, North Carolina.
He held offers from Clemson and Winthrop while receiving interest from Georgetown, Seton Hall, Virginia Tech and Purdue among others. According to the paper, Marhold has been averaging 18 points and 11 rebounds.
“When Duquesne first came up, I wasn’t sure about it. I wanted to play in the Big East, “Marhold to the Tribune-Review. “But after talking to some people about it, I feel like Duquesne is a good fit for me to get better as a person and as a player.”
Marhold becomes the Dukes’ first commit for 2009. Duquesne is also considering guards Jason Calliste of Quality Education Academy in North Carolina and Malik Smith of Notre Dame Prep in Massachusetts for the class of 2009 according to ESPN.
