DeShonte Riley Down To Two Schools
by Franklyn Calle
According to The Syracuse
Post-Standard, DeShonte Riley has cut his recruitment list down to his final two, Syracuse and Marquette. Riley’s mother confirmed it in an e-mail to the paper. The 6-11 center had verbally committed to Georgetown during the Summer of 2008 only to back away from his commitment a few months later in November after taking an official visit to the campus earlier in the Fall. At the time when he chose the Hoyas, he also held offers from USC, UCLA, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Ohio State, Florida, and Xavier. But after de-committing, Riley’s new list included California, LSU, Virginia, Oregon, and Oregon State before cutting it down to two this week.
The Detroit native is expected to
announce his college decision once his season at Detroit Country Day High School is over. Riley is ranked as one of the top centers in the nation for the class of 2009 in all of the recruiting services which include Scout, Rivals, and ESPN. Syracuse currently has two commits for 2009 in guard Brandon Triche of Jamesville-DeWitt HS (NY) and forward James Southernland of Notre Dame Prep (MA). Marquette in the other hand will have five newcomers in the fall of 2009 when forwards Jeronne Maymom of James Madison Memorial HS (WI), Erik Williams of Cypress Springs HS (TX), Brett Roseboro of Quaker Community HS (PA), and guards Junior Cadougan of Christian Life Center Academy (TX) and Dwight Buycks of Indian Hills Community College (IA) set foot on campus.
