From 1 to 30, we rank them all…DIRTY!

by Lang Whitaker

Even though we’re almost a month in, I’ve still got more questions than answers. Are the Cavs for real? Why are the Knicks trying to stink for the next two seasons? What will Robert Swift do next with his hair to alleviate the crushing boredom.

My only answer? Let’s get dirty…

I have a feeling this is right were Portland’s going to be most the season. Top 10, definitely. For how poorly and inconsistently Philly’s played thus far, I’d say even 13 is too high. Texas should get a bit more respect–I think Dallas and San Antonio will be moving up that ladder soon. But those are just the few ‘maybes’ to me…it’s all dirty.

  • Ken Posted: Nov.25 at 12:48 pm
This is shaping up to look more accurate as the season goes on. Denver seems a bit high to me, but we’ll see soon enough if they are just teasing us.

  • Holly MacKenzie Posted: Nov.25 at 12:59 pm
I like the Musselman piece, Lang. Especially after Caputo’s piece with Eric where he mentioned Gil. That could be fun.

  • Captain America Posted: Nov.25 at 1:01 pm
Jazz played out of the heads last night with Price and Myles. A much more enjoyable team to watch.

  • Bryan Posted: Nov.25 at 1:11 pm
Dallas sucks. Jason Kidd is playng pretty well though.

  • B. Long Posted: Nov.25 at 1:14 pm
Jeff Van Gundy if not Musselman. They need that in their life.

  • peteb80 Posted: Nov.25 at 1:16 pm
The Mavs won all their four games last week. The Bucks only went 2-2 and have a worse record overall, yet they rise higher? This confuses me.

  • thebigticket05 Posted: Nov.25 at 1:17 pm
I don’t know about the lakers being the best but we’ll see come christmas day.

  • Cub Buenning Posted: Nov.25 at 1:18 pm
Lang, love the #4 seed for the Nugs, but i gotta disagree with the Melo strugglin part.
Aside from some shaky jump shooting, he has been playing the best basketball of his pro career.
Joe Johnson and I are in agreement.
Sloth, Gluttony, and Football!!! I love Thanksgiving!!!!

  • Bryan Posted: Nov.25 at 1:21 pm
I had a lot to say about the knicks on my blog. I’m so pissed off.

  • Bryan Posted: Nov.25 at 1:23 pm
Melo is playing great in all aspects except scoring give him time and he might be putting up 24 and 10 like we all expected.

  • Bryan Posted: Nov.25 at 1:25 pm
Oh and larry brown was that bad dude.

  • tenorca Posted: Nov.25 at 1:30 pm
For the record, I think the Dubs are keeping Morrow. Of course, they’ll probably give up on Wright and he’ll end up a 15 & 10 guy somewhere else next year.
    We got Jamal Crawford, y’all.

  • B. Long Posted: Nov.25 at 1:34 pm
@tenorca:They better not give up, Wright. He’s gonna be a beast in a year or two.

  • Moose Posted: Nov.25 at 1:35 pm
    OKC is 1-13. Headache . . .

  • Cub Buenning Posted: Nov.25 at 1:37 pm
Moose, I saw you up on my 3 brothers’ Denver sports blog!!

  • tenorca Posted: Nov.25 at 1:51 pm
I really like Wright (and Randolph for that matter—Anthony, NOT Zach) but the Dubs tend to baby swingmen and treat young bigs like they’re vets. Last game’s Turiaf/Wright/Randolph line was reaaaallly enjoyable though. Here’s to hoping.

  • Myles Brown Posted: Nov.25 at 1:59 pm
Sigh. The Cavs have made the jump.

  • Bostwik Posted: Nov.25 at 2:34 pm
I’m surprised the Suns have actually been at a decent ranking for these past few weeks.

  • B. Long Posted: Nov.25 at 2:44 pm
@Bostwik:Thank Shaq. Heat fans, hate Shaq.

  • Monkeyball Posted: Nov.25 at 2:50 pm
I don’t see how you can rank Detroit at #8 and New Orleans at #12. They have the same record, and NO clearly has the more balanced lineup. Just look at what Billups has done for Denver and you can see how much the Pistons lost: their leader and stabilizing force. The Pistons will implode, Iverson and Rasheed will explode, and they’ll be out of the playoffs.
I don’t expect anybody around here to see things objectively, though (ya’ll have to give up on your Iverson fixation…).

  • Moose Posted: Nov.25 at 3:15 pm
Yeah, Cub! That’s yours? Hm, didn’t know that. It’s a nice site.

  • jose Posted: Nov.25 at 3:18 pm
    send shaq back to southbeach!plz

  • witness Posted: Nov.25 at 4:05 pm
who checks lebron tonight? or do they let him score 100?

  • docksquad Posted: Nov.25 at 4:18 pm
Lang, my main man. How can the Bucks be ranked higher than my Bulls?!? We beat them head to head, and we have lost less games then them! and we have DROSE!!!

  • B. Long Posted: Nov.25 at 4:30 pm
I don’t care if the Spurs did get Manu back and won last night, when Tim Duncan is running out of bounds under the basket to avoid getting dunked on by Rudy Gay, the Spurs aren’t going anywhere. PUUSSSAAAAAY!

  • Chris Posted: Nov.25 at 4:38 pm
No kidding about Tyson Chandler, he’s averaging 8 and 8. Unacceptable.

  • Candice Posted: Nov.25 at 5:04 pm
Monkeyball who is going to push Detroit out of the playoff’s exactly? Maybe your not being objective with your views.

  • ciolkstar Posted: Nov.25 at 5:17 pm
No way the Lakers win it all this year. They do look good, but they’re gonna pull a 06 Mavs. Have a great regular season and get chumped in the playoffs.

  • ciolkstar Posted: Nov.25 at 5:20 pm
The Sixers have been really ugly. That Brand signing was retarded, iguodala has been better but the ONLY thing I like about that team is Young Thad. Please sleep on the Spurs, that always works out well.

  • its just alex Posted: Nov.25 at 5:41 pm
No Ricky Davis in the Clippers starting line-up. We got Gordon instead and a pretty impressive performance at that.

  • Cub Buenning Posted: Nov.25 at 5:55 pm
Moose, the site is not mine, rather run by my 3 brothers, all Denver-area non-writers. I am up on there on occasion.

  • B. Long Posted: Nov.25 at 6:04 pm
ciolkstar saw what Tim Duncan did last night too and had no rational response to my earlier comment so he throws a random Mavs 06 insult at the Lakers. Hilarious.

  • K Holls Posted: Nov.25 at 6:47 pm
Collins the Greater HAS to be some sort of oxymoron. Collins the Less Trash seems to fit better. And I can’t belive the Pistons lost to the flippin L-Wolves!!!

  • K Holls Posted: Nov.25 at 6:47 pm
Collins the Greater HAS to be some sort of oxymoron. Collins the Less Trash seems to fit better. And I can’t believe the Pistons lost to the flippin L-Wolves!!!

  • Matthew Lopez Posted: Nov.25 at 6:51 pm
listen up my fellow raptors fans, we need a sg, sf, or sg/sf fast. we need someone who can be a good secondary scorer, considering money, im thinkin’ ben gordon, gerald wallace, mike miller, and it’d be great if we could get caron butler but that’s not gonna happen.

  • Matthew Lopez Posted: Nov.25 at 6:52 pm
to add to my previous comment, how about rudy fernandez?

  • Hursty Posted: Nov.25 at 7:24 pm
Sorry, but how are the Rockets DOWN from last week? They go on a 3 game road swing and sweep it? But they go DOWN?

  • BETCATS Posted: Nov.25 at 7:34 pm
we are under the kings? damm.

  • B. Long Posted: Nov.25 at 8:03 pm
@BETCATS: I watched highlights of the Bobcats game against the Sixers and I’m seriously not trying to be a di(k but there where about 40 people in the stands. If the Cats don’t start pulling some fans to the arena you may lose your second team in your lifetime, homie. Oh yeah, Larry Brown blows goats for quarters.

  • Teddy-the-Bear Posted: Nov.25 at 8:58 pm
The Blazers are looking really pretty incredible right now. Brandon Roy, Lamarcus Aldridge, Steve Blake, Travis Outlaw, Greg Oden, Joel Pryzbilla, Nicholas Batum, The Racist Punk@ss Spaniards, you name it. Also, FREE JERRYD BAYLESS.

  • RV Posted: Nov.25 at 8:58 pm
Yeah, how do the rockets drop a spot? I would understand if Utah was playing great and therefore deserved the spot more, but both teams went 3-1 the last week. Houston barely lost to Dallas, while Utah got blown out by a shorthanded Spurs team. If you want to include yesterday, Utah went 3-2 and Houston 4-1. Utah’s been missing Boozer and williams, but Houston has had injuries as well, so you gotta rank based on how they played. The fact that Houston is actually starting to find their offense and Yao is actually finally playing like an all-star makes it that much worse.

  • Teddy-the-Bear Posted: Nov.25 at 8:59 pm
Also @ Matthew Lopez: You seriously think Rudy Fernandez can be a secondary scorer for the Raptors? He hasn’t proven himself worth a dime yet and he’s still a developing rookster. You’re going to put him in the same category as Ben Gordon and Caron Butler? That isn’t just because you’re Spanish and he is too, is it?

  • jaymes Posted: Nov.25 at 10:15 pm
@rv..Yeah Houston’s team was hurt but still playing, the Jazz without Booz and Williams and still winning, that’s a little more impressive surely.

  • RV Posted: Nov.25 at 10:30 pm
Jaymes, not when they got blownout by the Spurs by 30 and beat teams like memphis and i think sacramento was the other….the spurs were a lot more impressive and won more with less, yet Utah jumped 5 spots this week and the spurs 1.

  • KA Posted: Nov.25 at 10:54 pm
great quote by dwight. hassan chop!

  • henry Posted: Nov.26 at 1:01 am
i gotta say Dallas should go up by this moment with a win today against the Pacers…With Howard not around

  • Mark Z Posted: Nov.26 at 8:30 am
C’s have the most wins playing with a sputtering offense and a tough schedule. Why don’t they deserve #1?

  • j4zzm4n Posted: Nov.26 at 8:59 am
laker’s d is looking better(except for the kings’ game) probably why they got top spot over the c’s that and less losses

  • jaymes Posted: Nov.26 at 5:42 pm
    Fair call rv..

  • lets go raps Posted: Nov.30 at 11:13 am
