Air Jordan 3 True Blue Set To Retro

And K1X is doing its thing in Germany and NYC.

Christian Boszczyk, Ademola Okulaja

Word is spreading around the ‘Net today (via Marqueesole) that the true blue Air Jordan III is set to make its retro rounds. Sneakernews adds that the shoe will drop in August. Keep in mind though these dates often change in accordance to the hype that mounts with them.

We’ve also got some news from K1X, who was recently on hand for a playoff game in Germany for pro club Brose Bamberg to welcome back former UNC Tar Heel Ademola Okulaja. Nicknamed “The Warrior,” Okulaja (at right in picture) has missed the season for his team after being diagnosed with cancer. Okulaja got a warm standing O from the crowd and took part in presenting a check for 10,200 Euros to a cancer charity, along with K1X brand director Christian Boszczyk. The money came from K1X’s sale of 513 limited Okulaja tribute shirts, titled, “The Warrior will be back.”

K1X will also be active this summer in outfitting a handful of NYC-based street tourneys. Teaming up with Kingdome, Together We Chill and The Lower Manhattan Classic, K1X will provide uniforms and tees for all three tournaments. The brand will also send tees out to the Watson Classic in the Bronx.

K1x officially breaks things down in this statement:

“Kingdome” (played at Martin Luther King Jr. Houses) is Uptown’s premier tournament, and “named after the legendary arena in Seattle, which used to be the home of the Sonics, my favorite team”, says “Huncho” Cooper of Kingdome. “Together We Chill” definitely got-next, as it is viewed by many as last summer’s it-tourney. “TWC is a party! I give the players theme music according to their names, all my celebrity actors, rappers, r&b artists always stop by when they are in NY, we have multicultural food vendors, a kids park adjacent to the court, even a 12 foot jumbotron”, says DJ Ted Smooth of TWC. ” The “Lower Manhattan Classic” is a new tournament, and a bona fide candidate for rookie of the year tournament. LMC’s hype-man 40 Cal: “Every major hood has at least two major tournaments to call their own, in Harlem it’s Kingdome, TWC and Tri State, in the Bronx they got Hoops in the Sun and the Watson Classic, Brooklyn got Rodney Park, now the Lower East Side has something major to call their own.” Former Knick Jeff Houston will formally open the LMC on June 13th!

You can follow all three of the tournament’s schedules, teams and players on K1X’s website as the tournament nears in mid-June.

Cool that K1X is sponsoring 3 tournaments. Strange their K1X shop/Kickz.us got downgraded from before and there’s not a lot of product for online shoppers anymore, there’s only a lot of those boots. Didn’t know their main site is a constantly updated blog. Talib Kweli’s K1X Obama/Wizards shirt is dope.
