The Rockets’ rookie lands a shoe deal.
It seems like Patrick Patterson is getting settled into how things work with the Houston Rockets.
The 14th pick in this year’s Draft, he knew he’d be dressing like a box of McDonald’s fries in those hideous jerseys. The first trickle of NBA cash probably consoled him on that issue. Next, he took a look at his teammates’ feet and acted swiftly.
As CounterKicks reported on Wednesday, Patterson, like a number of Houston Rockets, has signed an endorsement deal with Chinese brand PEAK.
Shane Battier and Kyle Lowry are currently inked with PEAK, but Dikembe Mutombo also wore the shoes while he was a Rocket. Ron Artest made headlines when Phil Jackson dissed his PEAK shoes last season, but Ron Ron signed with the brand while he was a Rocket.
PEAK sent out a release with this comment from their newest pitch man:
“I am very excited to join the Peak family.” said Patterson. “My relationship with Peak provides the opportunity to partner with a leading China brand as I establish my own global brand. I look forward to growing with Peak as my professional career begins.”

I’m not sure how much of a global brand a 14th overall pick can build, but you don’t get to the NBA without dreaming big. Patterson is one of a dozen NBA players signed to PEAK. As I wrote last week, PEAK has set up shop in LA. They told CounterKicks that they’re especially excited about the Patterson signing because it was handled for the first time by PEAK USA, as opposed to PEAK China.
