Pics And Info: The LeBron 8 PS

The Playoffs are here.

by Chris O’Leary / @olearychris

With LeBron James and the Miami Heat less than 24 hours away from their Playoff run, Nike is already in postseason mode.

The Swoosh is hosting about 20 media members in Miami, where they’ve run us through the ins and outs of the new Lebron 8 PS—LeBron’s signature shoe for the Playoffs—which drops on Saturday. I’ll get into the performance of the shoe (spoiler alert: it’s really, really nice) in my next post. For now, I wanted to drop some images and info on the sneaker.

Using three Nike technologies, LeBron’s Playoff shoe features a 180 Max Air unit in the heel, Zoom Air in the forefoot and Hyperfuse technology for the shoe’s material, making it a full 2.5 ounces lighter than the shoe that LeBron wore at the start of this season, the LeBron 8 V1.

Check out the pics and watch for a second post that gets into the wear test we did today and thoughts from the shoe’s designer, Jason Petrie, on how and why the LeBron 8 has evolved through the season.

Lebron’s shoes are always too cumbersome and too expensive. Haven’t seen one yet that I’d buy.

man i bet these shoes go hard. But those adidas crazy lights r pretty dope also. Damn..

^Adidas shoes are terrible to ball in; my school’s sponsored by adidas so I wore them because we got free team kicks (admittedly not the crazy lights, but still) and after a month I was back to my nikes. They were honestly worse (by far) than the pair of Starbury’s I used to rock in high school.

they were the adidas creator or w.e. btw. I agree the crazy lights look sick, but all I’m saying is for actual performance there is really no debate; nike > adidas all day

These look pretty legit and they are lighter as well but I always use Adidas so I guess I’m being kind of bias…but those crazy lights look amazing! I can’t wait to get them! As soon as I saw D.Rose wearing them against the Pacers I went online to see them haha!

if you look at them from the inner side they look realy cheap. I don’t know man I still think I’m gonna get the jordan 2011s

Cheap they are not, the quality may be lacking but its not reflected in the price.

Lebron’s shoes look good on only Lebron for some strange reason. They are too chunky, and cartoony for me; but then I rock the Zig Slash and Hyperfuse, and those don’t apply to everyone.

I’m an adidas guy as well. I guess it depends on your foot, but I’ve rarely had a pair of adidas shoes that didn’t perform well. With that being said, I started experiencing some forefoot pain so I picked up a pair of Lebron 8 v2′s and its made a huge difference. I guess its the cushioning. They are a lot heavier than other kicks tho since everyone is going with lighter materials.
