Asics Fabre Returns This Fall

An old school sneaker returns for a re-introduction.

I’ve always had a soft spot for Asics Tigers. The design is simple but eye-catching and when Uma Thurman rocked the yellow/black Tigers in Kill Bill, I was hooked.

I may have a soft spot for the shoe, but I won’t claim to be the most knowledgeable dude on the block when it comes to this brand. It wasn’t until Monday night, for example, that I found out that before Asics made a running shoe, it did a basketball shoe.

The Fabre came to existence after Onitsuka Tiger founder Kihachiro Onitsuka staked out several Kobe area high schools to gather info on what should go into a hoops shoe.

Far from a performance sneak today, the Fabre will make a return to consumers this Fall. To learn about the history of the shoe, check out this video from Asics America’s site on what’s in my admittedly biased opinion, a pretty dope sneaker for every day use.
