Kicks: Kyrie Irving, Nike Have A Twitter Love-Fest

by Chris O’Leary/@olearychris

There’s a new basketball romance brewing and both sides have splattered their affections for one another on Twitter. Kyrie Irving, the No. 1 pick in this year’s NBA Draft, announced on his Twitter account today that he has signed with Nike.

Nike quickly reciprocated the love, telling their newest signee, hey kid, you’ve earned it.

The Twitter-verse oohed and ahhed and both statements have been RT’d all over the place. Irving is the second player from the 2011 draft class to sign a shoe deal, after former UConn Huskie and current Charlotte Bobcat Kemba Walker signed with Under Armour last week.

cut out all the sarcasm, I’d be just as elated….but yeah Twitter sure does have a way of making things unecessarily corny

    ^Exactly.
What was Irving supposed to tweet? “Signed with Nike. Yay.” ??

  • DFrance21

Yup, then Nike should have replied “We know Kyrie, settle down.”

Too much money too fast messes these guys up. John Stockton would’ve picked some of these jokers apart.

Is it just me or does it seem like irving tries to hard to be a disney character sometimes? “dreams do come true!” seriously?

  • rich

Enes Kanter should have been number one pick by Cavs. Then Cavs could have drafted Brandon Knight at 4. Irving is a crap shoot to me and Thompson at 4 is like drafting a NBADL player that can only rebound. BOOK IT!!

  • da Real

He will never sell shoes for them. Chris Paul and John Wall are barely selling shoes for them and they think he will?? We are forgeting that there is a 50% chance that this kid will be a bust due to injuries and a lack of athleticism. He barely dunks and that was before the injury. I wish him the best, but I gotta keep it real

^^John Wall is signed with reebok not nike , maybe das why he aint selling for them :s .. and i dont no bout chris paul
