Kicks: Stephon Marbury Promotes Starbury in China

Steph brings his brand to his new home.

Stephon Marbury’s attempt to bring low-priced, high-quality sneakers to American retailers in the form of Starbury went under with the bankruptcy of distributor company Steve and Barry’s. But now that Steph is on the other side of the planet, bringing his unique brand of basketball and, well, personality to China, he’s looking to resuscitate his signature shoe, too. SneakerFiles has the story: “When Steve and Barry’s disappeared, Marbury needed a new way to sell his shoes. The natural place to let his brand continue and grow was of course China where he played professionally after leaving the NBA. Marbury joined forces with the owner of the team he plays for, the Froshan Longshi, to manufacture, sell, and distribute his sneakers all across China. Marbury has had tremendous success in China, raking in what is reported to be millions for his company…Expect to see some more news come up, but do not expect a stateside release. Chances of the Starbury line returning to the states seem to be rather slim right now.”

the kix looks like an under armour kix. personally not a fan of marbury but i give credit to him to low cost shoe for those not willing or cant afford 150+ plus kix in this economy.

@Red Star it looks exactly like the Kobes, even has scales. He posted it on his twitter page. But I guess thats just like the other companies that bite off each other. I still respect what he’s doing and applaud his success.

I had an old Starbury 3 years ago. It was more comfortable than a $150 Air Jordan’s, and only cost me $9.

i still got two pairs of starburys… i’m a fan of what he’s doing, the shipping of the shoes to the PHILS cost me more money than the shoes themselves…
