Kicks: adiPower Howard Officially Unveiled

Dwight Howard introduces his new shoe for ’11-12.

Superman’s gotta wear something on his feet. As of today, that footwear is the adiPower Howard, the latest joint launch from Dwight and adidas. It takes a lot to support one of the L’s most dynamic physical specimens, and equally as much to keep one of the entertainer in him happy. So behold, the adiPower in all its glory. The new sneaks aren’t too far a diversion from Howard’s past models, but there are some changes. The details from adidas:

The adiPower Howard is the third signature shoe for Dwight, and features a SPRINTSKIN upper for increased strength and reduced weight and Z-Torsion technology for stability on the court.

Each shoe features the number 12 on the outside ankle support area. The three stripes are broken into separate pin lines inspired by his jersey. Dwight’s signature is placed at the top of the tongue and numbers 1 and 2 are placed on the base of the tongue on the right and left shoe respectively. The sockliner features the famous grin of this known funnyman.

The adiPower Howard is available at retailers starting today for $100. You can pick them up at Foot Locker , Eastbay or shopadidas.com. Two additional colorways will be available soon—black-on-black on November 10 and black-white-and-blue on December 1. And make sure to watch Dwight give his personal (and hilarious) review of his new kicks, on gallery slide No. 5.

I ain’t tryin’ to hate, but does anyone – besides omphalos – seriously buy Adidas that aren’t Shelltoes and Reeboks that aren’t Classics?? And was Grant Hill the last player to sign with Fila?! Those Grant Hill kicks were actually dope. Better than today’s players sneaker lines.

To be fair, these shoes were for a friend of mine who is strictly a post player. Given they were the only post-oriented shoes on the market the choice was easy. I will say that adidas have been making some good strides lately; the adizero Ghost is just as light as my hyperdunk 2011s, and more comfortable to wear. Really confused about this “launch” thing though.

O, the adidas ADANs are the one. so were the tmac 1s and 2s. for reebok, a few of AIs kicks were dope. so were the shawn kemp kamikaze 2s. other than that though..
while hooping a while back, some guy stepped onto the court with the fila grant hill 2. pretty much everyone stopped to look at them.
the stackhouses weren’t bad back in the day. nowadays, they look like shoes you find at ross.
