Kicks: Nike Unveils Zoom KD IV

You’ve seen the previews, twitpics and snippets of Kevin Durant’s new signature sneaker. Now, check out the official images from Nike, showing you every nook and cranny of the Zoom KD IV in all its glory. The shoe—set for a December 3 release date—features a brand new Adaptive Fit system, plus a Zoom Air unit in the sole and Hyperfuse construction throughout. Durant and Nike Basketball Footwear Design Director Leo Chang teamed up to build the Thunder star’s fourth sneaker, striving for flexibility, versatility, optimal ankle support and a lightweight low profile. The synthetic strap across the laces adds lateral support and gives the foot a snug fit.

The KD IV pays homage to what’s important to Durant: team and family. A lightning bolt traction pattern on the outsole represents OKC’s nickname, and the “Big Chucky” on the shoe’s heel honors KD’s late mentor and coach as a kid. “W” and “P” in the heart shape on each toe are for Durant’s parents, and “Barbara” is for his grandmother. Personal motivations also appear printed on the outsole. Clearly, Durant wanted those personalizations to make his kicks complete.

Special thanks to Nike for the imagery, and get ready for December 3, when the KD IV hits global retailers.
