adidas Unveils 2012 NBA All-Star Uniforms

Plus, the kicks Derrick Rose and Dwight Howard will wear during the ASG.

Crazy as it seems, the 2012 NBA All-Star Game is only a few short weeks away, as the big weekend kicks off on Friday, February 24. And now, we finally know what the stars will be wearing for the big game on Sunday, thanks to the League’s official outfitter, adidas. who today unveiled the gear we’ll see for the 61st ASG in Orlando. More details, from our friends at adidas:

The 2012 NBA All-Star uniforms were designed by adidas and inspired by the 20th anniversary of the memorable 1992 NBA All-Star game which was also held in Orlando. Inspired by the Sunshine State and the fun atmosphere of NBA All-Star weekend, adidas NBA All-Star basketball shoes feature bright orange coloring to pay homage to Orlando’s Orange County and the state’s famous oranges.

The All-Star jerseys feature oversized East and West All-Star block lettering that was inspired by 1992 jerseys. The jackets and jerseys feature dip-dyed hardwood heather pattern inspired by the floor of the Orlando Arena where the game was held. The tonal blue and red, and three stripes silver and gold accent coloring on the jerseys and short sides will make the uniforms stand out on court. The woven NBA All-Star shorts are inspired by board shorts and also feature a sublimated mesh pattern for high performance and breathability.

Dwight Howard and Derrick Rose will wear the special orange colorway of their newest adidas signature shoes during the NBA All-Star Game. Five-time NBA All-Star Dwight Howard will sport the adiPower Howard 2, while two-time NBA All-Star Derrick Rose will wear the adizero Rose 2.5. adidas Originals will release a special version of the AR2.0.

The adizero Rose 2.5 and adiPower Howard 2 All-Star versions will drop February 23 for MSRP $110/100 at Foot Locker, eastbay.com, shopadidas.com and NBA Jam Session in Orlando.

adidas Originals leads the off-court line with the AR2.0. Following up on the popular adi-Rise model, the AR2.0 is inspired by the iconic adidas Forum Mid basketball shoe, but with a modern off-court look featuring a clean vulcanized sole and patent leather strap. It features gold stars on the sockliner and navy/orange colorway to tie to NBA All-Star in Orlando and is available now for MSRP $95 at Foot Locker.

Champion Or Nike Needs To Get The Contract Again…Jerseys Were Way Better Back In The Day!!!

..i really dont care anymore lol

  • grizz grit grind

Why are Rose’s and Howard’s shoes in West red not East Blue?

  • ripslam

^Nike and Adidas are doing an orange/space theme to the kicks this year. The ASG LeBron 9s are also orange.

  • http://nba.com GP23

Remember when players used to just wear their own team jersey in the ASG. Lol.

  • http://kb24.com Bigi

    GP23: I kinda liked it…

  • http://www.twitter.com/_dfrance dfrance21

^That was so lame, I hope they don’t go back to that. It was better when the jerseys were themed after the city the game was held in. Remember the Purple jerseys with the cactus when they played in Phoenix one year? Those were dope.

  • Rik Smits Mullet

    co sign jazzman
this three stripe crap has got to go.
These guys have zero innovation every year the same allstar jerseys.
Also the fabric of the shirt looks like its stolen from the erotic male underwear industry.
please come back nike or champion. then i will be able to buy a jersey again.

  • GUs

^^^^^^ ARE YOU SERIOUS? the cactus all star uniforms have to be the worst everrrrrr! if that’s the case, why not use the tune squad unis instead this time? and i do think that player using their team unis is far better! don’t you think that in the mind of the players it turns into a more competitive game since they’re not dressed up like make belief all stars?

  • AJ

Wow once again they failed. Really surprised that they were not original, but expected from adidas. So next year will they honor the 20 year anniversary of the 1993 game. Another example of why Nike owns 95% of the market share in basketball. Maybe it is time for adidas to clean house and start over!

Last years jerseys were clean! These ones kinda look the same but they are clean too.

  • LP

these uniforms are very bori-zzzzzzzzzzz…..ooops fell asleep mid-sentence…

  • Red

Adidas should be a lot more creative, what with them making panda shoes for Lil Wayne’s lame self. C’mon Adidas you’re messing up big time.

  • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5k1jx3r4y1E dfrance21

@GUs yeah I’m serious, I thought they were unique, its fine if you disagree. Having everyone wear they’re team jersey is just lazy and boring. And I in no way shape or form think that them seeing each others team jersey somehow makes the game more competitive. They’re not going to forget that they’re in the all-star game because they have team jerseys on.

  • LA Huey

I’m with dfrance in regards to never doing the whole “everybody wear their team jerseys” thing. It one step away from “shirts v skins” and looks disorganized. I’d rather them just wear Black/White t-shirts and matching shorts with the numbers and lettering drawn by school children instead.

dfrance the cactus ones might be the worst ever imo, and i just remembered that mitch richmond was mvp that year. the classic white vs red old school are the cleanest ones to me

  • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5k1jx3r4y1E dfrance21

I guess I liked the fact that they put some thought into the jerseys.

  • Harlem_World

Adidas are so behind I can’t believe they haven’t lost a ton of money on basketball. Maybe soccer is keeping them alive? Their stuff is just so weak. Like basketball is an afterthought for them. Message to Adidas if you’re reading: you will never be Nike, so stop trying to compete with them on their court. Come off the dome in a whole different direction. If you can’t dominate your market – create a new one. It’s not rocket science.

  • golakeshow

So this is the jersey kobe wins MVP in

  • Red

Certainly won’t ever win another Finals MVP.

  • kantankruz

Loving those last kicks, I really dont mind the jerseys. Pity they couldn’t redesign them from last year.

This is a bad pic of the jerseys they actually fade from light to dark… but why are the shorts the same color? Kinda cool I guess… click my name to see what I’m talking about. Not sure if it will work.

  • Roberto

These uni’s stink. They dont look right for a few reasons. First the color flow is wrong. You would think that the jersey would fade all together not just the jersey fading and then the shorts being a solid color. Maybe it would look better if the fading continued throught the whole uniform or even the jersey fades and then the shorts fade again. Secondly, there is so much going on with the design on the jersey (the fading, the “hardwood” numbers, and the stars) that the shorts look too cheap in comparison. Also the 3 stripes on the side, but that is with everything Adidas does that everyone hates.

  • http://www.leaguelineup.com/welcome.asp?url=pawtucketymca Gametimeweezy

Right that’s what I thought too, it should stay light into the shorts and then fade darker or something. The shorts look too plain… idc still better then the cactus ones although they were relevant to Phoenix. What were they gonna put this year some Micky Mouse ears or the Epcot center?

Nike really needs to take over every major sport! Adidas can take Tennis and Soccer or something, but Nike can just make their products so much more appealing. Whoever designed these looked at last years design and just added on to it. And they shouldn’t have anything “inspired” by the 90′s. Come on its 2012, we have to revolutionize.

  • http://www.twitter.com/hurstysyd Hursty

Go back to the home/away team jerseys. Just for a year. Bring em back. Nice change.

  • DS44

Adidas needs to stop putting those damn stripes on everything.

  • Jono

Normally these jerseys look weird but at the very least, guys like LeBron and Kobe make em look hot. Like last years in LA, they were nice and had a few details that made them memorable. But this years, they put absolutely no effort, it looks like a rip-off jersey you’d find in one of those bargian wheelbarrows they have in Thailand. If you go on the NBA website, even LeBron/Kobe couldn’t save these jerseys from looking like trash. Very disappointed. With the ASG being in Orlando, they could pay tribute to the Magic someway or another, like having pinstripes or a bunch of stars or whatever. Anything is better than this years.

  • Randy Brown

Everything is a damn slideshow on this site now. All those extra clicks must be valuable

  • http://moontain.org Fredd

i hope they’ll do something for the 20 years celebration of Magic’s ASG ( mvp, big story etc )
