Photos: Introducing Nike+ Basketball

Brand new sneaker technology on Day 2 of the Nike Innovation Summit.

On Day 2 of the Nike Innovation Summit, CEO Mark Parker introduced the new, revolutionary hoops experience coming to a sneaker near you—Nike+ technology for basketball. What does it mean? Imagine playing a game of basketball, then being able to whip out your iPhone and check how much energy you expended, how far you ran, how quick you were, and most importantly, your highest vertical jump. And then being able to post your vertical leap to Facebook or Twitter, proving once and for all who has the most hops. The new Nike Lunar Hyperdunk, which LeBron and others will rock in this summer’s London Olympics, uses Nike+ Pressure Sensors in the sole to track metrics never before available to basketball players. In the future, more basketball models will feature the same technology.

Today, Parker and the rest of the Nike team unveiled this technology, along with Nike+ training and across all sports platforms, with the help of Nike athletes Alyson Felix, Victor Cruz and Manny Pacquiao. According to officials, all styles of the NIKE+ enabled footwear will be available and at retail June 29. Check back with SLAMonline later this week for a more extended post on the Nike Innovation Summit NYC, including 1-on-1 interviews with the people behind Nike+ designs and production.—Abe Schwadron

Lebron’s skill set is just disrespectful. The new HD’s are on point also.

I hope they worked out the kinks in the Lunarlon sole because the other Lunar bball kicks suck! And shout out to Victor Cruz blowing up! Go Giants!

Too bad Pacman won’t be fighting Mayweather anytime soon. Mayweather’s such a coward…

@O, apparently Dana White called out Mayweather recently. Well it was regarding his comments on Jeremy Lin but he also mentioned the split and how 50/50 is as good as it gets. On another note, I remember you mentioned the Knicks colored Jordan IV’s. Turns out they’re the Retro Cavs colours. lol

Arrrgggh, look at the mechanics on that spin dribble at the end, too smooth for someone that packed and tall. Ridic.
Too much going on on the sides of the HD ’12 for me (flywire lines look like drawn-on lightning bolts) but the colour way is very nice.
Agree with dfrance21, not risking anything by getting these anytime soon, not a fan of the lunarlon cushioning.
Better get a few mor HD’11′s before they are sold out. Apart from the flimsy tongue, best Hyperdunk evahhh.

@ niQ, yeah, heard it was the Cav’s IV’s. Kinda sucks to be honest. Might’ve been crazier if LeBron was still in Cleveland. Jordan might as well have called them the “Knicks IV’s” for dropping that double-nickle in the Garden during his first comeback tour. Pac Man said that Mayweather offered him 40 million and NO Pay-per-view money. His counter offer was the 40 mil and a 55-45 split with the 55% going to the winner. Not only that but he said he’d do the blood test and whatever else Mayweather demanded before. Mayweather fronted and decided on Cotto. That’s a SUCKA move AGAIN on Mayweather’s part…

What Cotto? So Is He Going to Fight Cotto? haha
