The Swoosh unveils Summer ’12 apparel and footwear on Day 1.
On Day 1 of the Nike Olympic Innovation Summit at Pier 36 Basketball City in New York, NIKE, Inc. President & CEO Mark Parker and other notables introduced the media to the footwear and apparel Nike athletes will wear this summer at the Olympic Games. Olympic Gold Medalist Carl Lewis was in the building to help reveal Nike’s brand new FlyKnit and Nike Pro Turbospeed technologies, plus a new generation of Lunarlon cushioning. Most pertinent to SLAM fans, though, was the unveiling—with the help of Deron Williams and Tamika Catchings—of the Nike Hyper Elite uniforms that the USA Basketball team will rock in London, and the 2012 Nike Lunar Hyperdunk kicks that LeBron James, DWill and the majority of their Team USA teammates will lace up. Stay locked to SLAMonline this week for more, extended coverage, including Q+As with some of Nike’s most creative minds. —Abe Schwadron
