Ewing Athletics set to re-release Patrick Ewing’s signature sneaker.

Back in the day, it wasn’t all about Nike.
Sure, Nike had the global presence and had a young man named Michael Jordan as its spokesperson, but players weren’t just rocking Nike Airs. There were other brands out there—many of which have dissolved under the power of the aforementioned brands, but live on forever thanks to sneaker heads and lovers of anything old-school.
NBA stars ventured beyond Nike and linked up with smaller brands to drop famous (and infamous) on-court kicks. Hakeem was sportin’ Etonics, Magic and Larry repped Converse, Chris Webber had the CDubbz and Patrick Ewing took it a step further with his own shoe line, Ewing Athletics after he parted with adidas in 1988. Many of these brands, save for Converse, faded out and couldn’t compete with the bigger brands. But that hasn’t stopped sneakerheads from reminiscing and searching tirelessly for a pair of these priceless relics.
Well, this Summer kicks fanatics will have a chance to cop a pair of Patrick Ewing’s signature shoe as it was just announced via Twitter that Ewing Athletics will be re-releasing the Ewing’s for purchase this summer. Except for a tweet from the Ewing Athletics Twitter feed, no other news or release dates have surfaced. But please believe that SLAM will be all over this one and will be bringing you the news as soon as we get it.
