Kicks: ‘Summit Lake Hornets’ LeBron 9s to Drop Saturday

Nike shows Bron’s childhood team some love.

by Rodger Bohn / @rodgerbohn

The latest version of the LeBron 9s is set to drop this Saturday; this time around, we get the Summit Lake Hornets edition. For those not in the know, the Summit Lake Hornets were LBJ’s childhood AAU squad. Nike is dropping a release to commemorate them. With the old-school Charlotte Hornets colorway that was so hot back in the early ’90s, these shoes are a festive addition to any wardrobe.

Retailing for $170, the Summit Lake Hornets LeBron 9s will be available at all House of Hoops locations and select other retail locations throughout the country. Some Champs Sports stores have even got them in now, so it’s worth a phone call or two to the dope shoe spots before waking up at the crack of dawn to cop. As always, they will be available on Nike.com at midnight Saturday morning, EST.

I love the way these shoes look. If only they didn’t hurt my feet so damn much!

i used to have the same problem. Straight out of the box they where to tight and i had loosen up the laces.Problem fixed.

The Summit Lake Hornets were a rep team LeBron played for as a kid. Calm down.

@Rik Smits, the problem is that my feet are built differently than the Lebrons. They really pinch into the back of my foot. I’ve got wide feet which seem to be no bueno for these shoes. Now, no offense to women, but I’m not gonna wear shoes if they make my feet every time. Besides, the new Kobe’s fit me perfectly.

i feel you man. I got wide feet as well especially right behind the toe part. Loosing up the laces helped for me. I also dont have any problem wearing any jordan or nike shoe. Except for a pair of jordan 6 rings. A kind of plastic seems to mangle my pinky toe. I also got a pair of jordan 5 which is all patented leather where a piece of plastic cuts right across my toes. Both seem to be design flaws because of some hard materials which stick right into the inside of the shoe. Both pairs i never wear.
