Nike Releases Lebron IX Low Liverpool (KICKS)

A surprise release date for perhaps the last retail drop of the LeBron 9.

In a somewhat surprising move, Nike unexpectedly lifted the release date for the Nike LeBron 9 Low “Liverpool” today. The “unofficial” release is likely to be the last new LeBron 9 colorway to hit retail, according to Foot Locker. An ode to Liverpool F.C., the sneakers are a nod to one of England’s most famous and most historic soccer clubs—and also the team LeBron now has a minor stake in. The “action red/black-white-new green” colorway’d Nike LeBron 9 Low “Liverpool” is now available at House of Hoops by Foot Locker and select Foot Locker stores for $150.

This sucks. And I’m a Liverpool fan. Waay too much green there. And the hell is the swoosh in black?

This is exactly what I expected to see when an American company attempts to capture a piece of English football heritage. An abomination of colour. Also call me a prude, but I hate seeing sports stars lifting a trophy they have not won. That is the point of the chase…Lebron was never pictured with the NBA trophy before he won it. Hey, add it to my weird list, that includes hating seeing players with those long sleeve compression shirts in football.
