Last week, Kevin Durant invited media from a dozen countries and multiple continents to tour his home town of Seat Pleasant, Maryland (just outside of Washington, DC) and see up close and personal the inspiration for his sixth signature shoe, the Nike Zoom KD VI. The two-day event kicked off Thursday at the Seat Pleasant Activity Center, where KD honed his game and grew as a basketball player and person.

From there, Durant took the assembled media on a tour of important landmarks in his early life, including his grandmother’s house (where he called home), his go-to outdoor courts and “The Hill,” a special patch of road where he used to run sprints up an incline to build strength and character.

On Friday, after leading the attendees on a tour of the nation’s capital that included the Lincoln Memorial and Georgetown University, where Durant played summer ball for many years, KD surprised the media and jumped in a pick-up game at Sidwell Friends School, where he was hosting a skills camp for the best college comp in the country.

The KD VI launches worldwide on Wednesday, July 3 in navy, teal and yellow—the colors of Durant’s hometown rec center.
