Answer IV’s. I’m 15. I was 11, didn’t care about what I had on my feet. These helped me become a sneakerhead. Idolizing Iverson my whole life, these were extra special. My first Iverson kicks. Absolutely beautiful. Rocked them everywhere. That’s what’s special about them. Still have them and everytime I look at them, I remember a special moment, like when I wore them to a football game. stepped in mud. Like I lost my best friend. Was up all night with wipes scrubbing the mud out. The 4’s were my babies. Introduced me into the sneakergame. Thanks Answer 4’s.

niQ: do they not remind you more of the Air Jordan XVIs?

  • http://nationofmillions.ca ciolkstar

Does the favorite purchase have to be Jays?

  • http://nationofmillions.ca ciolkstar

My personal favorite purchase was from Active Athlete, a Strip Mall legend in Austin, TX. They were Desert Camouflage Dunk Los. Beige and olive leather accents. So dope. It was a back to school sale and amazingly everyone had slept on them (AA mostly moved Js and AF1s). Thirty Dollars. Boom.
Now the soles are bald and separating and they’re beat to hell, but that pair really marked the beginning of my sneaker-collecting obsession and will always be a personal favorite.
And, oh yeah, them sh*ts were selling for like $300 last lime I looked on Ebay

Man, my favorite all-time shoe is probably the Jordan Brand Air Jordan XIII–it was the shoe that motivated me to go out for my middle school 8th grade team. I remember seeing Paul Pierce wearing them in his junior year at Kansas and thinking, “Wow, those are so dope.” MJ lost the season opener of the 1997-98 season in those very shoes against the Boston Celtics, but also won his last championship in them. Between the hologram, the hidden eyelet straps under the suede and the rich leather silhouette on the black/white/varsity red colorway, those shoes defined my Jordan purchases.

    Lovely.

My favorite purchase has to be the Air Jordan 1, released in 1985 kicking off not only the greatest legacy in sneakers, but also the greatest legacy in basketball history. These groundbreaking shoes caused the NBA to ban them because they violated NBA color rules. When I bought these shoes, I felt like I had bought a piece of history. They were the first kicks that started me to become the sneakerhead that I’ am today. To me, it is the holy grail of shoes that marked the beginning of a new generation of shoes

My favorite purchase would have to be my jordan 11′s, . I was working the day they re-released and had called about 10 different stores trying to get my hands on a pair. I wasn’t able to leave work that day so I had one of my girlfriends (just a friend, I’m not that much of a player) going from store to store trying to pick them up for me. She trooped from hartford, ct to holyoke ma all the way down to waterford ct (thanks footlocker in the crystal mall!) to finally cop one of my favorite joints ever!

I like these, but I’m starting to think that JB needs to bring in some designers w/some fresh ideas instead of taking pieces from other J’s and Nikes and putting them together to make a “new” shoe. They should give my man Dallas Stokes a call…

  • Taranvir Sandhu

My greatest shoe purchase was the time when i bought my Jordan Schoolin’s. These shoes were beauty all around, from the head to toe. I had to go to three stores finding these shoes, and had to eventually pay $30 extra on the internet. The kicks were amazing. When i wore them, i couldnt take them off. These shoes were very special. I even taped a jordan picture beside them, to make a point. I even missed class once because i was shining them. Those were great memories and i remember they were my favourite and only jordan shoes.

  • Taranvir Sandhu

I have been posting stories of my shoes pruchases all week too, i should get credit too!!!

The dwyane wade 1.3 all star edition shoes. they were white, with some blue, and pictures of roses. I got them 2 years ago, when i was 11 years old, at a foot locker in toronto. I then brought them with me when i moved to israel. I wore those shoes to shchool, and i obviously balled with them, mostly on the outdoor courts in my school. Those shoes were certainly tough. This was in sixth grade, and i was a size 12 by then, so everyone had a clear view of the kicks. They ended up not living up to their full potential, because they were stolen from my doorstep when I was airing them out overnight. I was obviously very depressed, and it was even worse because the shoes were still in good condition. I still don’t know who stole them, but I do know one thing, that whoever stole them got a real nice pair of kicks.

  • Jonathan Marshall

My favorite shoe purchase would have to be the Reebok Questions, Allen Iverson’s first signature sneaker. They were blue and white. The blue tip was what caught my eye. My dad came home from work with them to my surprise. It wasn’t just a sneaker; it catapulted my love for A.I. Instead of watching cartoons after school like most kids, I would tape Sports Center. Watching him embarrass grown men was truly inspirational and when I put those Question’s on, I felt invincible. Oh yeah, I also liked the “Where did you get those” looks in school. Lol

My favorite shoe purchase was a pair of of the first Starbury’s b/c this is what got me into buying sneakers and it also started my dram of playing basketball b/c my mom couldn’t afford to buy me a good pair of Nike’s. i bought a pair of shorts and a ball started playing on the court for hours a day. I also have pair of signed starbury’s kept safe

The CP3’s in blue and black. I saw the release date on Jordan.com so I went to champs the day it would come out. Turns out that color didnt come out here in canada.(Damn)Anyways I had to get them,( I had saved up for three months, I’m 15). So finally i decided to order them on eastbay.com to my grandmas house in new york cuz i was going to new york. Sure enough the day I got to new york there they were waiting for me. The day after I went ou shopping in new york and I found out that color had not come out in U.S either. So whenever I put them on I feel pretty fly knowing I’m one of the few people in the world whos got them. I’ve had them for two months now and I’m enjoing them.

Sorry I had not read the 100 words thing I think I am a bit over but read it its sweet

My favorite purchase is the Jordan XIX SE. These were the shoes that I used to change my life. In my second year of university (Saskatchewan) in 2005 I was 6’0 and 260 pounds. My doctors told me I had to lose weight because I would be more susceptible to joint damage because of my Hemophilia. Another reason was diabetes, being native and it was in my family history. I bought the shoes and started playing ball, jogging and working out and cleaned up my diet. In six months I lost 65 pounds and yes I’m still in shape

  • High School Hoops Junkie

I’m a true Nike head, but my favorite purchase of all time was in 1987. I scooped the Spotbilt X’s, Xavier McDaniels’ signature shoe in the Sonics colorway, also my school’s colors. All of the local HS teams were rocking their respective colors in these. I also got the Sonics satin Starter jacket to rock with them, which some clown stole out of my last period class. He couldn’t wear it back to school. These kicks were perfect, light weight, cushiony and excellent support around the ankles. They were ahead of their time. Wish they would retro them.

My favorite purchase has to be the Air Jordan 1, released in 1985 kicking off not only the greatest legacy in sneakers, but also the greatest legacy in basketball history. These groundbreaking shoes caused the NBA to ban them because they violated NBA color rules naming them “devil shoes”. When I bought these shoes, I felt like I had bought a piece of history. They were the first kicks that started me to become the sneakerhead that I’ am today. To me, it is the holy grail of shoes that marked the beginning of a new generation of shoes.

Limited Edition Navy Suede/Grey T-Mac 3’s. Basically found ’em by accident at a Footlocker midtown, didn’t have cash, called a few ’round my way in Brooklyn and was confused when NOT ONE SINGLE STORE knew what I was talking about once I mentioned the colorway. I dipped into the savings and headed back midtown to find they only had size 10 or 13.5. Copped the 10’s and a few weeks later read either Russ or Ryan recapping a Lincoln game, mentioning the ’Splitters wearing the custom colorways (Navy/Grey are their school colors) and it all making sense. Still got ’em.

THE AIR JORDAN 8 BECAUSE I WANTED THAT SHOE MORE THAN ANYTHING CAUSE IT LOOKS SO UNIQUE AND SLICK AND WHEN I WALKED OUT OF FOOTLOCKER WITH KICKS IN A BAG AND THE RECIEPT IN MY HAND I NEW THAT WAS THE BEST 170 DOLLARS EVER SPENT

  • Heatboy311

Nike Air Max Bizness- I had been lookin 4 nice blue shoes for like four months. Hyperdunks were too common. I looked for jordan 1s but couldnt find 1 in blue. I went to thousands of sites. I looked all over slam mags. Finally I found them and it was love at first sight. When I laced up for the first time against the top team in my league I hit a fadeaway 3. It was a highlight of my career. We never scored ten points in that game but one thing was for sure. I had found my kicks.

My best pickup rather came at an unusual place, especially for such a rare edition. Zellers, $40 CAN for a pair of T-mac 2 Olympics. Great performance shoe. What can you ask for more with such a great deal?

My very first shoe was the converse weapons. Since I don’t really ball like I used to ; ( it was the last shoe I actually appreciated. I have to say I put over 600 miles in that shoe in one summer. All white with blue trim. I was the last of my teenage years. I went on to graduate and join the army. Although now that I can afford to, I keep up with the shoe game, there is nothing like when you do not have the cash and you buy your first pair. Its like your first car.

The best purchase I made wasn’t for me but for one of the players I coached. He was my star player but couldn’t afford shoes. I bought him Jordan 13s. When I gave him the shoes his face lit up. One of the happiest moments of my life. I gave something to someone that needed it and put a smile on someones face. It was an amazing feeling, the boy became more confident allowing his game to flourish. He appreciated these shoes. This experience changed my life because I touched somebody elses life. I learned the importance of giving back.

It was my first Brand Shoe, the Adidas KB8 2 in the white and royal purple stripes. They weren’t the prettiest shoes but, the way they made me feel on the court. I was unstoppable in my own right. Of course it was back then you wore shoes to the bone and the day came when I had to cut them loose. Those pair of shoes made me jump higher, play harder, faster, stronger and ultimately I played the game with all heart.

  • GJ BC

My first real basketball shoe was the Tmac 2s when I played for my grade 8 ball team, my parents wanted to get me something good instead of wearing my Dad’s work shoes to ball games, so my parents on my birthday bought me these and I played my first basketball game in them, this was years ago and I never forget them.

My favorite shoe purchase has be when my parents bought me my first pair of Allen Iverson shoe Reebok Answer 5.When I first heard of allen Iverson I was sophomore in high school and I was on the basketball team and players on team where talking about what shoe the team should get and I was looking this girls shoe and she said she had on The Reebok Answer IV. I wanted get allen Iverson shoe because I been of fan of his since I first saw him play a game on tv may 2001.

  • Kyle Callahan

My favorite shoe I’ve ever bought are the Jordan Melo 5s. I got them as soon as I got off crutches from a broken ankle with a plate and 8 screws which was broken playing 8th grade travel bball last season. As soon as I bought these shoes all I could think about was playing bball again. I would take them out of the box every day to motivate me to get playing again as soon as possible. The first time I walked back onto the court with them on made them the most meaningful shoes I own.

My favorite shoe of all time is the Zoom Kobe IV. Kobe Bryant has been one of my favorite player but not his sneakers until his 4th signature shoe. It’s an amazing shoe in both performance and look wise and considered top selling sneaker in 2009. What makes it my favorite is the history kobe made with it, he defeated 2009 MVP Lebron James on MLK day, surpass Charles Barkley on the all-time scoring list, scored 61 points at Madison Square Garden, won the 2009 NBA finals, and last but not least crowned as the 2009 NBA Finals MVP.

My fav shoe purchase of all time is the College edition Dunk High U.T.T All Nation Kansas City. It was my first pair of Dunk highs and it meant so much more to me than just a pair of shoes. I won my schools athlete of the year ballin’ in them, I went through a harsh Northern Canadian winter in them and I am dying to be accepted into the University of Kansas City. They are my all time fav shoes and the most meaningful item i own.

When AI declared for the NBA draft, I was so excited thinking he was going to have the sickest kicks. To me it obvious: Georgetown + Nike + AI + AJ XI = Unstoppable. To my disappointment: Reebok signs AI on draft day. C’mon, Reebok? They don’t make real kicks, for real players, and definitely not, AI. That was, until I saw The Questions. They were striking, yet clean, their red pearlized tips and ice outsole. My brother took me to get my first pair that February release, those blue pearlized tips would forever be, my favorite.

  • Ryan Lucas

My favorite purchase was the air Jordan xi spacejams released in 2000. I was 17 in my senior year of high school and I just got a job before they came out. It was December 13th release day and it was snowing up a storm that morning. I woke up got ready cleaned off a foot snow off my car and headed off around 8:30 am. It took me an hour to get there when normally it takes 10 minutes. I was worried they had sold out. Then finally got to footlocker and and I was like fifth in line. I asked if they had any size 10s left and he said yeah we’ve got 2 left I said great I’ll take em. So I snagged up both pairs. It was a great day for me. I rocked em the next school day and started breaking necks.

My favorite purchase was the air Jordan xi spacejams released in 2000. I was 17 in my senior year of high school and I just got a job before they came out. It was December 13th release day and it was snowing hard that morning. I got ready, cleaned a foot of snow off my car and headed off around 8:30 am. It took me an hour to get there when it normally takes 10 minutes. I was worried they had sold out. Finally got to footlocker, I was fifth in line and snagged up the last 2 pairs of tens.

Converse Wade 1s. They carried me through my first American AAU tournament, which for a 13 year old Canadian kid who had never even heard of scouts was like playing in the NBA finals. They were simple, yet had all the necessities and were lightweight. I can see why Converse re-released them this year and as I hopefully move on to University ball now I might just have to pick up another pair! To top it off, I always really identified with the player behind the kicks- DWade, and how he was overlooked coming out of college.

  • S.J.

The AF1 white-on-whites with the ice sole were not necessarily my favourite sneakers, but definitely impacted my shoegame the most.
    The story goes like this…
So I was all set for back-to-school, with my fresh whites. I show up to school, and lo-and-behold I see the same exact shoes I have on about 20 other dudes’ feet. So I went back to footlocker and got the fresh-whites with the ice blue soles. They’re a classic with a little bit of “umph”. Bread and butter, baby. Still use sea glow on ‘em to this day to keep those soles fresh.

  • Da Zen Master

The Adidas Superstars with the shelltoes were and remain my favorite shoe of all time. Classic silhouette, you can rock ‘em with just about anything, and the toes never crease. I remember all the buzz surrounding RUN-D.M.C. and these kicks. They were also one of the first low-cut sneakers introduced for basketball. I had to use up all of my previously saved money in my piggy bank to cop ‘em. It was so worth it, man. Those three, black stripes looked so good on the all-white. Man, I wore those shoes ‘till the sole came off. Classic.
