Hey Nike, here’s an idea…………….. F*ck you, your prices, and your sweatshops.
Though I agree on the sweatshops I have to disagree on the price issue. Nike is intelligent in it’s pricing because if they charged less, they would be experiencing something called “economic loss” which basically means they’re leaving money on the table.
Prices aren’t decided by producers in the free market system, rather by the consumer. Nike has found what they consider to be the “demand price” which is the price the majority of their market is able and willing to pay for this particular product. This price happens to be $260.
Let’s say each pair of shoes cost $40 including parts and labor to make, if Nike charged $41 dollars to us they would be experiencing a $219 economic loss because they could have charged much more ,but didn’t. This isn’t in anyway arrogance by Nike, rather BASIC microeconomics and intelligent marketing to their customers to make us believe they are actually worth this much.
