Finally, New NBA Spots!

Tired of those “Where Amazing Happens” TV spots which have survived much longer than their promised one-season campaign? Well, the NBA will go tour bus style this Christmas as we will be blessed with this season’s first batch of comedic commercials. AlanaG had the scoop, now, the three commercials are leaked onto the Tube.

the only one that is funny is the one with lebron singing. the other 2 do nothing but make you smile slightly….

  • 王骁男 Posted: Dec.23 at 9:13 am
what did he say in lebron episode? who can tell me please

  • blackice87 Posted: Dec.23 at 9:17 am
hmm…well that was…different? why are they so small…..where did this race of miniature human beings come from? so many questions

  • blackice87 Posted: Dec.23 at 9:22 am
he says “unexpected. that’s what you can expect from lebron james, the unexpected.”

  • rikson Posted: Dec.23 at 9:23 am
great idea - classy spots! My favourite is the one with oden in it. Dont like the lakers-spot - kind of boring in comparison….

  • 王骁男 Posted: Dec.23 at 9:34 am
thank you blackice87! are you a american?

  • blackice87 Posted: Dec.23 at 9:36 am
You’re Welcome. and no, I am canadian.

  • Eboy Posted: Dec.23 at 9:39 am
They still can’t get rid of that stupid “Where Amazing Happens”?

  • riggs Posted: Dec.23 at 9:41 am
continuing the streak of kobe hate, i will like to say the mofo overacts with his flailing arms, was sasha his acting coach?

  • Ryne Nelson Posted: Dec.23 at 9:47 am
The Oden spot is my favorite by far…And I agree with blackice87, this miniature human race is a bit disturbing.

  • [...] NBA has a new crop of “Where Amazing Happens” spots.  Slam has 3 of them.  Not bad.  I want to believe that the punchline in this spot is because Pau Gasol pissed himself [...]

  • Plasticman Posted: Dec.23 at 10:07 am
I was expecting Oden to land on the mini bus thing and injure himself. Now that woulda been funny!

  • Moose Posted: Dec.23 at 10:33 am
I like the local NBA commercials. The Kevin Garnett one over here is awesome. On CSNNE, they have clips of Garnett saying things in postgame interviews quickly as the season goes by, and it all ends with Garnett’s cry of “anything’s possible!” After the Finals.

  • drayton Posted: Dec.23 at 11:18 am
@plasticman. I was thinking just the same!

  • Anton Posted: Dec.23 at 11:22 am
I saw an anti-Pistons one with a quote from AI circa 2008: “if I’m makin the same mistakes when I was 23 I’d be a damn fool”, then they show the bench without him signifying the missed thanksgiving practice and finally ending with the classic quote.
    Tis entertaining.

  • Corey L Posted: Dec.23 at 11:35 am
Plasticman, that would have been hilarious. hahaha. The LeBron one was pretty funny, but I didn’t really like the Lakers one.

  • underdog Posted: Dec.23 at 2:30 pm
    These ads are just weird.

  • agrebah Posted: Dec.23 at 2:46 pm
    Not funny. C’mon NBA!

the one wit oden is tight! i really like the commercials…they are very creative. The NBA needs to continue to come up with fresh ideas like this.

  • Sean Gaudet Posted: Dec.23 at 8:10 pm
    The Lebron one is good

  • Tzvi T. Posted: Dec.23 at 9:08 pm
Nothing can be the split-screen playoff commercials.
    Nothing. Ever.

  • Jukai Posted: Dec.23 at 9:48 pm
Anything is better than those awful, awful, awful ads they are playing now. The Lebron James one was pretty funny.
    @Moose: that is aired nationally.

  • doyouwantmore Posted: Dec.23 at 11:50 pm
Umm…I would honestly rather watch re-runs of last year’s awesome commercials. These are just straight bad. Not that funny, unimaginative, and why does Greg Oden get a commercial?

  • Jukai Posted: Dec.24 at 2:05 am
    were they taken down already?

  • portman Posted: Dec.24 at 2:09 am
why pick on the lakers one, they are all bad! subtly hating.

  • jay Posted: Dec.24 at 4:25 am
not even funny, the lebron one was the only one that funny

  • jay Posted: Dec.24 at 4:26 am
    Sorry “that was funny”.

  • Darksaber Posted: Dec.24 at 4:30 am
Bring back the “i love this game” ads. Or the intense game action spots. or even “fannntastic”. amazing was nice last year, but it’s time for a change

  • the baconator Posted: Dec.24 at 5:28 pm
@Moose: We get David Lee talking about being a “blue collar guy” doing all the dirty work to help his team and Nate Robinson discussing how he’d been doubted all his career. Yeah, much better than the regular NBA commercials

  • mark Posted: Dec.24 at 6:31 pm
they should just have quotes from Shaq… now that will be funny

  • wilz Posted: Dec.24 at 8:38 pm
I can’t say I agree with the way he talks about Pau Gasol…not how I would describe him…

  • Tino Posted: Dec.26 at 1:37 am
    Go hawks

  • chintao Posted: Dec.26 at 2:20 am
These three are weak. LeBron = Unexpected? Yeah, sure. That’s why he rides the Yankees, the Cowboys, and the Bulls. He’s a rugged individualist.

  • andrew Posted: Dec.27 at 1:39 am
bring back the ali g ones!

  • Arek Posted: Dec.27 at 7:13 pm
blackice87 = prime example of ppl who overthink everything

  • GOSPURSGO Posted: Dec.28 at 3:18 am
I liked the original ads from last season . . these jawns are pretty dope but the previous ad campaign really got the point across . . .

  • NAS Posted: Dec.28 at 6:16 am
These ads do not deliver on the “Where amazing happens” positioning at all and are quite bland - who is the ad agency working on the NBA account?
If anybody knows if the NBA is interested in looking at an offer from other agencies please inform me at tarek.nasr@unb.ca as I work for a large agency and we feel we could offer alot more than those spots
    Thanks
    Tarek Nasr
