  That was a lot closer to not being a travel then it actually looked. He should have leaped after he took the jump step instead of taking another step to get closer to the rim. It wasn’t as bad as the one he pulled off in the playoff series, that’s for sure.

  LeBron gets away with some stuff to be sure, but let’s not get carried away. LeBron is also victim of the Shaq syndrome where he doesn’t get a lot of little contact calls because he is so big and strong. Dwyane Wade on the other hand gets flicked on the way to the hole and because he goes flying off in a completely different direction, he gets the call. They create no incentive (almost) for going up strong and fighting through contact the way LeBron does it.

  Definately a travel, agree consistency is needed on these calls. correct me if i’m wrong but if he didnt touch the ball with his second hand until he left his feet in the hop, he would still have an active dribble so effectively the move would be legal yes?   the travesty that was the 06 first round matchup. in two different games lebron got away with blatantly obvious travels AT THE END OF THE GAME! in game 3, i believe it was, he took 3 steps, took a couple more little steps, went up for the shot, someone contested really well, then landed, then shot the ball, so he traveled 3 times in one play at the end of the game.

  If LeBron had actual one-on-one moves like Kobe he wouldn´t have to resort to crab dribbles in order to get to the cup. How about a crossover or a spin dribble. All he does is pick a direction and go hard. It works for him most of the time, so you can´t blame him. But just like his jumper it´s not fun to watch.

  Come one, Lebron traveled, but it wasn’t an egregious one. Plus, you can’t call that travel on him after the refs let two obvious fouls slide. First fould happened on a reach in before Lebron made his move, second fould happened when he got to rim and met Ruffin. If they let the fouls slide, they had to let a minor travel slide.

After that, get Kobe, although he does it less frequently than those aforementioned two players.   I love how LeBron later tries to reinact what he did to the ref. His reinaction shows him doing the jump=stop correctly by landling on both feet at the same time then jumping off both feet. But the replay shows that he landed on one foot nd the the other foot then jumped of the last foot. We all know what he was trying to do, but he did it wrong. This happens all the time in pick up ball. Players not knowing how to do the jmp stop correctly.

  CRAB DRIBBLE: using your back/body/legs to protect your dribble as you pound it in front of you. (What LeBron did before his multi-step drive) I’m kinda surprised that there seems to be very little knowledge of this term - espn had some show going on and on about LBJ trademarking his move - luckily they got Jalen Rose on who corrected them and explained what a crab dribble was, and that it was unrelated to the actual travel. I guess it is a term more common overseas than in the US.

  When did “the jump step” become legal and why? If a player picks up his dribble and takes a step then does that “jump step” it’s already 3 steps then some players take another step. Come on folks, every few years kids enter the NBA doing illegal moves and the L adjusts to them b/c they are the future….Just like some “assists” these days aren’t really assists. A pass to a jump shooter…where is the advancement to the hoop. I love CP3 but some of his steals aren’t steals, they are turnovers.   a “jump step” or jump stop as it is often called after one step is perfectly legal, if you leave the ground with one foot then the second foot that touches the ground becomes your pivot foot, and as long as that foot stays on the ground you can lift up and put down the other foot as much as you want. LeBron did travel but if his feet touched and left the ground at the same time, or if his lead foot stayed on the ground and left the ground last then he would not have traveled. He did travel, but he had a good idea.

  Most of the people who aren’t getting up in arms about the travel have not had their favorite team consistently screwed by Lebron’s BS. It is not that Lebron is the best player in the NBA (which he is not, I would rank him third) and deserves to have the refs/ the L treat him with kids gloves (For further proof, watch any playoff series where Lebron gets fouled hard once and pusses out, and after that it never happens again in the series, for SOME reason). It is the fact that he gets away with MURDER on the court, travels and gets an and-1, then the opposing team gets hosed when they do the same thing on the other side. In any Wiz/Cavs game Caron, AJ, or Gibby will get hacked to pieces in the 4th quarter with nary a whistle, but Lebron travels all the time when he drives, gets hit, and it counts. If the refs called it the same then I would not have a problem, but anyone who watched the debacle that was the Christmas game or any of the Wiz/Cavs playoff series’ and then gets all bitchy about how Lebron does not travel that much (AllenP “cough cough”) is full of crap. I HATE Lebron, too many people have anointed him as the NBA’s savior and the dude has yet to pay his dues to the league, he is a cheesy-ass punk and everyone who does not think this is a big deal I cannot wait until the Cavs play your favorite team and beat them on illegit fouls. Wiz, keep it up. D-Steazy is a prophet!

  But, like I said earlier, you can’t complain about some non-calls and not complain about others. If the refs called the game exactly according to the rules, it would be terrible in my mind. That’s not ball.
  When you play pickup ball, you let certain things slide. You can’t call travel after you give a guy a forearm shiver that moves his pivot foot, but he doesn’t call for ball. That’s the way the game works. The refs could have called an obvious blocking foul against the Wizards on one of the those game winners, but let it slide. They could have called a pushing foul, but let it slide. Buy you want them to call a travel after Lebron slid his right foot to gather himself and go up strong against David Ruffin. That doesn’t seem just to me.
