I’d say that the San Antonio front-office is feeling pretty good about having picked this guy up over the summer:

How badly did Fish foul him? I know he’s got to sell it here, but thats looks like quite a large over-reaction.
Spurs 2009 nba champions
Mason was a very cheap and talented pick up. Wizards are rolling over in their grave.
Oddly…..the Lakers didn’t complain too much….
a 7 game series between these 2 teams would go to 7 games. I got the Spurs.
Great job of “selling” the foul here from Mason Jr, but the off balance shot was fantastic. dude even backed up behind the line and if he had moved his right foot half a step back, shot would have been a 3. One of the best clutch shots this season, had no business going in. Roger’s loving it in Alamotown. Fisher done got floppppped.
Who was Kobe mad at exactly?
Mason is f*cking ICE WATER! Honestly, I think he makes the difference this season for the Spurs. Finley’s minutes are (finally) drying up and Popp obviously trusts Mason in big situations offensively and defensively. I have to give some props to Kobe, who went absolutely uncoincious in the 4th. He was amazing. But Manu, Timmy and Mason snatched that little bit glory last night. Thank God.
Umm ENDS, guessing here, but maybe at Trevor?
@ENDS: presumably he was mad that Fisher fouled a jump shooter in that situation. Especailly after Kobe hit the big 3 pointer to take the lead and did a great job of denying Manu on the inbounds. Mason (and George Hill)gives this spurs team that little bit of “magic” we’ve been missing in recent seasons. Not to mention we are damn togh to beat when the 3s are going in.
…*tough* to beat…
Darksber – He wasn’t pissed at the Razor, Trevor had nothing to do with it. Smart Coaching by Pop who showed a lot of confidence in Mason after “GINOBILI!” was hitting everything at one point
Spurs 4 Ring #5
The more i watch it the less contact I see Fisher give.
dude is CLUTCH!!!!!!!!!!
man big ups to Rog, good to see him doing well in the league now after bouncing around since like 03, i thought his numbers last year were just a product of an injury-riddled wizards line-up, but dude is definitely coming into his own now. With George Hill and Roger Mason following up the ‘youth’ movement spurs might be able to get another 2 or 3 title runs in after this season.
i’m just gonna say if anything on that foul, it’s inconsistency. the refs blew a BLATANT, undeinable foul in game 4 last year when fisher fouled brent barry and there was no foul call. it was simply unbelievable that nothing was called. this time, add a little acting (which barry didn’t do), and you get a call. it seemed like if anything, fisher sorta undercut one of mason’s legs, but still, it’s blatant the league rewards flopping when you compare those 2 plays from these same 2 teams. still a clutch, clutch shot though.
oh, and it’s interesting how the spurs play crunch time. parker commits a 24 second violation, but duncan makes these 2 big buckets on gasol that were clutch. in the end, you feel ginobili might get the ball, but instead it’s mason with the winner. one the other end, kobe had to do everything (either score or create for his teammate).
forget this play what about the non call on ariza? if that was a foul on mason then that huge bump manu gave him definately was a foul as well.
Ariza wasn’t going to get that call beacuse he looked slightly out of control and the refs don’t want to let a guy win the game by just driving wildly and crashing into a defender. Probably should’ve been a no call, though. And Fisher did foul Mason, Mason accentuated thre contact, but sometimes you have to, otherwise you won’t get the call (see Brent Barry Game 6 of 2008 WCF.)
i hate sean elliot
I say game of the season so far. Anyway too bad Fisher wanted to grab the ball, instead of staying in front of Mason Jr.
Yeah, he lit it up. Great game. Fish fouled him, but yeah, he sold it.
Wow that is a gigantic youtube video.
Mason Jr. is a beast.
You guys can say whatever about the TV replay and your own opinion, but the ref was standing at the perfect angle to see whether fisher hit him or not.
mason has done this at least once before, in december, from top of the key. this one is tougher, from the corner, so mad props, kid can ball.
I still don’t see why everyone gives props to this guy for a couple of shots. Although he’s better than Finley, but he only takes off his jacket in the last 30 seconds. He’s just a black Matt Bonner…oh wait they have him too.
