Video: Alabama High School Melee

Teams booted from state playoffs.

With 6:23 remaining in the 4th quarter of a boy’s Central Regional Tournament playoff game in Montgomery, AL, a harmless foul led to a full-on brawl between the teams and fans in the stands. Eleven students were arrested and both schools were placed on restrictive probation indefinitely.

    I’m glad everyone has a better view of this than the other sites it was posted on, they were making the most racist comments, as if this stuff doesn’t happen at football games in england, australia etc. But yeah, this was so stupid.

    Guys, I live here in Alabama, and the two teams have no bad blood/history. The refs probably could’ve done a better job of keeping it in check early and not letting hard fouls/screens go without calls. Too many no calls. And Alabama St. (the college campus where the two teams were playing) is located IN THE HOOD!! So I can almost guarantee that at least 20 of those dudes didn’t attend either one of the schools. They were just some cats from the block that needed something to do.

    I live in the UK and dont understand why SLAM is highlighting this, this isnt basketball, its a fight, and the pic on the mainpage “highlighting” this as “video” is just wrong, and makes the site look like bumfights or something, come on.

    Mat, living in the UK, where soccer fights are as common as people breathing air, I’m surprised you have a problem with this being highlighted. Like it or not, this is sports NEWS. A large brawl where people were arrested is sports NEWS. Sorry guys.

    disagree… fights are a part of sports (basketball included); I wouldn’t want to see SLAM start posting this stuff over legit basketball highlights, but there is always more to a sport than just the game, and that stuff shouldn’t just be ignored.
