Video: D-Wade Dares You Not to Call Him the MVP

by Marcel Mutoni

Here’s the latest from Miami’s superstar:

“Mr. Dwyane Tyrone Wade Jr., if he’s not legitimately considered for an MVP candidate, I don’t know what he needs to do,” Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said. “We are currently a playoff contender and night after night, he’s making incredible plays like this.”

Well put, coach.

Love the clip of Brad Miller after he hits it!

  • MalevolentKing7242

Glad to see him playing like this again. Hmmm Last second shot on his hometown team. He deserves some mad respect and MVP talk

  • http://www.slamonline.com Ryan Jones

    Motherf*cker is making a case.

  • riggs

one thing i know is, my president was sad.

  • http://www.shawn-kemps-offspring.blogspot.com Eboy

    He won’t get it.

  • German Reignman

Why the f**** is he falling down after the shot ?
This falling down, getting up sh*t is getting on my nerves, try to work on your balance for gods sake

  • riggs

yeah cause when u land on your feet falling backwards u can stop yourself.

  • jay

    mvp to Lebron!

  • German Reignman

well, at least he did not fall down from the scorers table ….

  • http://www.shawn-kemps-offspring.blogspot.com/ TADOne

My question is: the best option Del Negro could draw up was an iso for John freaking Salmons?!! I realize Rose was initially denied the entry pass but…..yeesh.

  • http://shawn-kemps-offspring.blogspot.com Cheryl

He fell down cuz his a$$ was tired.

  • ab_40

it’s great to see a player this great exceeding his already high level of play but mvp?… no. Nash stole two awards one from shaq and one from kobe. and if james or bryant wins this year they havn’t stolen it from him cuz they’re making cases for themselves as well.

Jesus some of you guys are lame. He fell down. So what? He’s the best basketball player on the planet until LBJ or Kob’ go off again. Let him live, whinners. He’s even making Jamario Moon look like a basketball player. MVP indeed.

  • Randy Brown

@Tad – exactly what I was thinking. Even if he does end up with the inbounds, Gordon is there. I still think this was a really risky play by Wade. If Salmons doesn’t fumble the dribble then Wade’s man is wide open. Still a hell of a play though.

  • Jack

    Lebronze will win unfortunately

  • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RBQEmmgDl9I Boing Dynasty

Randy, Salmons didnt exactly fumble the dribble so much as he got ripped, fairly cleanly by Wade.

  • Prison Mike

It’s always a treat when NBA players try hard. I wish they would give us notice sometimes.

  • MooButter

Heat give up a 10 point lead in the fourth to a mediocre bulls team and need double overtime and a last second runner to win….at home. MVP? Yes, he’s playing awesome, but you can’t take it away from ‘Bron for Wade without admitting James was robbed of the award in at least one of the last 3 seasaons. He put up great numbers and didn’t win, because his team wasn’t good enough.

  • http://www.slamonline.com GotHandles?

  • Khalid Salaam

    Like i said on Friday.

  • RM

I second that Boing. Jamario is looking like a stud thanks to D-Wade. And I love it.

  • Diesel

This was a damn good game. Getting Salmons the ball was a good call because he was lighting it up in the overitme. Gordon had kind of gone cold by then. What isn’t a good call is just saying “Get Salmons the ball then clear out” which apparently is all the Bulls did. 3 times last night the bulls had the ball, tie game, with no shot clock and they couldn’t get a shot off. THREE TIMES. Del Negro sucks.

  • jack w

I guess Wade is trying to prove there is no Slam cover jinx. And Ryan, I think he is trying to prove that he is a lock for the hall

  • http://slamonline.com Tzvi T

    As Miller said: “F___ Me!”

  • Michaelbchnn@yahoo.com

He’s by far the best player in the League, but he’s not going to win the MVP. Eveeryone knows he won’t so why do people keep talking about it.

  • CHE

D-Wade has been playing like this since the olympics. His team is in the rebuilding process and he is still above .500, Lebron is playing with vets and one all star, Kobe is playing with vets and one all star. D-Wade is doing it all by his lonesome. Cavs without Lebron would still be a .500 team, Lakers without Kobe would still be a .500 team. Miami without Wade would be a D-league team..lol D-wade right now is on the top of my list, then lebron, kobe and dwight.

  • CHE

and German Reignman he tripped on his teammates foot that’s why he fell backwards. good to see you care about the important things in basketball

  • http://myspace.com/mavus15 Mavus

REAL QUESTION: Why does Salmons have the ball after Ben Gordon was having such a good game? Terrible coaching!!!

  • Gumdrop

Not really a great job on the part of the Heat announcers–they really failed to capture the magic of the moment. If you had Marv calling that game, the replay would be on a loop for the next 20 years.

  • http://thesportsdiaryonline.blogspot.com Roy

    D-Wade is beastin’ right now… :D

  • http://www.shawn-kemps-offspring.blogspot.com/ TADOne

I’ll say this about Wade and his MVP chances: he still turns the ball over way too much for my liking, but that is about the only issue I can pick with him.

  • Jake

I’m really wishing I had gone through with moving to Miami now….fml.

  • http://www.shawn-kemps-offspring.blogspot.com Eboy

Gumdrop……they’re too in awe of his nightly heroics. There’s something to be said for keeping up a professional decorum and such…..but they’re true homers, tried and true. Marv is able to seperate homerniss when he does national broadcasts.

  • Josh D

    D-Wade 4 MVP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Miguel Ferreira

  • L33tSauce08

He turns the ball over too much? Yes, 3.5 a game isn’t great but he has the ball in his hands so much. Lebron turns in over just over 3 a game and handles the ball considerably less. He’s helping his team more, he’r lighting teams up more(with a better FG% than Kobe and Lebron) and he’s making the heat relevant when they were expected to take another trip to the lottery. Wade clearly does more for his team than anyone else, making him MOST VALUABLE. That said, he won’t win it. Why? Because since Lebron was cheated last year Wade will be cheated this year. Makes no sense to me but thats life.

    good god almighty

  • http://www2.gsb.columbia.edu/faculty/jstiglitz/ SPANOULIS

Wade deserves the MVP at least as much as Kobe or Lebron does…he is making a team of bench players seem like a playoff team…if he loses the MVP it’s gonna be just like when M.J lost it from Magic in 1989 for the same reasoning(it drove me mad then but the good thing was that Mike went wild at the playoffs. I still think M.J should have 7 MVP’s, along with the one they gave to the mailman…) This thing with the best player from the best team should stop….

  • http://www2.gsb.columbia.edu/faculty/jstiglitz/ SPANOULIS

by the way: LIVERPOOL – REAL : 4-0 !!!!(football at it’s best for those who saw the game)

  • The Kandi Raver

If MVP is carring a team on your shoulder and doing everything then give Wade MVP… Kobe 4 Back to Back!!!!!!

  • John

MVP=Most Valuable Player, I can see the lakers and cavaliers winning without kobe or lebron, but Miami?! Take out wade and the Heat are no where near a .500 team, Im a life long Heat fan and recognize this. This is why I think that Wade should receive the MVP

  • jose

Eboy is right. Though Wade is BALLIN’ out of his mind, kobe and lebron’s success with their teams will hurt wade. I think if the heat get 45 wins, wade should get it. to Triple your win total from last year is sumthin crazy.

  • giogolo

He’ll be 2nd to LBJ. and over kobe by a hair.

  • Rich

Anybody who didn’t see that game missed a good one. Back and forth, back and forth. BG will get his money from somewhere, and D-Wade is a SERIOUS contender to steal the MVP vote. Man, that was a great game.

  • C Dot

I find it funny when people mention the cast of people LeBron has on his team now but werent saying anything when he lead his team to the NBA finals. Wade couldnt do that with a cast of nobodies, yes hes over .500 but without Shaq he wouldnt have had a championship ring.
