    Smush Parker is a chump.

Smush is the reason Kobe couldn’t get the Lakeshow out of the first round. He was TRASH at the PG position. TRASH. He’s out of the league for a reason- he’s trash.

  • Michael

Okay. Horrible teamate or not he had his best seasons playing with him.

HATER! “The problem with the lakers begins with him and ends with him”. Tied for best record in the league and #1 in the West…I’ll take that problem any day. Smush should get over himself and learn that if someone has 3 rings and an MVP they probably know what they’re doing.

  • Sparker

too bad boobie blew the follow up. smush was ready to talk some evil stuff

SMUSH SUCKS KOBE IS A BEAST

  • luke

Let’s be real…..he has NO TEAMS WHATSOEVER looking at him, possibly in the D League yeah. This dude was meant to be something special in years to come.Smush maybe the experience wasn’t overrated, maybe YOU were.Everyone on that Laker team right now seems to have worked everything out, hence the best record in the league.Talking smack about KB24 is just ridiculous, you lose any respect you might have already had with that comment, douche.

I did a feature on Smush a few years ago. I liked him a lot. I’d have a beer with him if such an occasion presented itself.

  • Ken

As a Suns fan, I remember thanking God that Smush was on the lakers. He went something incredible like 1 for 17 from 3 point land during that series. It was great.

  • http://ittakesanationofmillionstoholdthissac.blogspot.com ciolkstar

    Kobe sucks

  • http://kb24.com Bigi

You were in da Playoffs with HIM,Smush…Where Ya NOW???I guess this is how you get your publicity these days, huh? How much do you guys think KB is gonna think what Smush Parker has to say about him…?When there was a time almost everybody hated him…I would love to hear what Kob has to say about Smush though…???Smush WHO?

  • http://www.manutd.com Z

All I remember is a starting pg playing 30+ minutes a game and averaging below 3 assists.

  • riggs

*saves this spot for when the lakers lose in the first round*

  • http://holleringinto.wordpress.com/ Nick the Great

Kobe is my favorite player and all, but I always kind of liked Smush, and I still do… Is that bad? While not the greatest pure point in history, Smush isn’t as bad as some would like to remember.

That being said, I think Kobe is showing this season that he isn’t the terrible teammate that his detractors would suggest he is.

  • http://holleringinto.wordpress.com/ Nick the Great

@riggs, the Lakers only real threats in the West are Utah and Portland right now, so unless one of them slips to the eight spot…

  • http://slamonline.com Spaceship Jay

Everyone’s intitled to their own opinion. And I hope he saved his money in the mist of this ice cold reccession. ICE COLD!

  • http://dime dennis

Smush you are a chump. KB24 would probably skunk your punk a** in 1 on 1, and you not even in the league and you talking sh**.

  • http://mindyourbusiness@getalife.com Allenp

Look Smush sucked, but anybody remember when Smush first started playing with the Lakers and was averaging like 17 in his first dozen games? Everybody was trying to figure out who he was and stuff.
Then, slowly, it seemed like he lost confidence and began to get really wack. Most of his problem was playing scared, at least that’s what I saw. He was really tentative, then he just stopped trying and starting pouting.
Now, some of that was just his wackness, but I also think Kobe, like Jordan, is a hard cat to play with.

  • Jacob

where is smush these days? ok and where is kobe? smush needs to keep his mouth shut

  • http://holleringinto.wordpress.com/ Nick the Great

@AllenP, thank you! Somebody who gets it. Smush could score, and would have bursts where he was really effective. If being an inconsistent player warranted a death sentence then Odom wouldn’t be in a Lakers uniform anymore.

Also, I do think that while Kobe is a better teammate then people give him credit for, if he doesn’t think you are pulling your weight he will obliterate you emotionally. Devin George can attest to that.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Justin Walsh

@Nick the Great- he had spurts of being effective, but at the end of the day his jumpshot was HORRIBLE, and after those first dozen games he became a PG who couldnt get more than a few assists per game that shot too many jumpers (way too many considering he has no jumpshot whatsoever).

  • http://www.manutd.com Z

In all fairness, Smush used to really drive the lane when he came to LA. Dunking of folks and all off of one foot and all. And then, it all went away. However, he’s not in a position to criticize anybody right now. Talking sh!t 3 years after the fact when you got run out of the L because you were too much of a headcase is not a good look.

  • so fresh n so clean

that boobie guy is annoying as hell.

  • http://www.shawn-kemps-offspring.blogspot.com/ TADOne

Was he really talking sh*t or just being truthful?

  • http://www.slamonline.com Justin Walsh

TAD, he probably didnt like Kobe as a teammate because Kobe is known for telling his teammates that they need to improve as players. Smush never improved he just got worse so I’m sure that for Smush, Kobe was a bad teammate.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Justin Walsh

but TAD, let’s be real. It’s f*cking ridiculous for a PG who got cut from the league to be saying a job on ANY NBA team is an overrated experience, much less one where the coach is Phil Jackson and the best player is Kobe. Even if he didn’t love it, to say that statement when he’s on a park bench without a job because the Heat, even at their worst, couldn’t put up with an atrocious shooter with even worse shot selection who can’t garner more than a few assists a game.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Justin Walsh

oh…and by the way, after being cut from the heat, went to the clippers, got cut by the clippers, and in the next NBADL draft…Parker was the 14th pick in the recent Developmental League draft by the Rio Grande Vipers.

He was picked 14th out of 16 teams, meaning that 13 teams took a chance relative unknowns rather than pick Parker, who once shared the backcourt with Kobe Bryant and averaged 11.1 points, 2.8 assists and 2.5 rebounds.

When you fall, it can be a hard landing. Now he’s playing in China, or not since he seems to be back in America.

  • daniel

your name is smush. shut up.

  • http://holleringinto.wordpress.com/ Nick the Great

@Justin, Hey man, don’t get me wrong, I get it. I’m a Lakers fan and thus had to watch as they would get broken down by opposing point guards every single night. I am well aware of his limitations. But in the same breathe, you don’t average 11ppg in the NBA unless you can score a little. That’s all I’m saying. Your side, my side, same side.

  • Nik

Smush who ? I’m no kobe sucker but who smush parker thinks he is ?

  • http://www.shawn-kemps-offspring.blogspot.com/ TADOne

I hear you Justin. However, I didn’t hear any vitriol in Parker’s voice, just that he didn’t enjoy playing with Kobe. It didn’t sound like sh*t talking to me, he may have just used a poor choice of words. Thing is, i’m sure he isn’t the only player who probably felt that way about Kobe. As Allenp mentioned, people didn’t enjoy playing with Mike either. I can imagine it is hard playing with alpha dog type mentality’s who expect you to play at a certain level 24/7.

  • http://mindyourbusiness@getalife.com Allenp

Well, like I said, I remember Smush yamming on cats and he had a little New York swagger about him.
He wouldn’t be the first player to get blackballed in the league through both his own actions and people’s perception of him.
I’m glad some of y’all remember Smush going HARD to the rack. But, y’all are right, suddenly he just turned into a jump shooter. Then again, that also happened to Ron Harper when he played for Phil Jackson. Harper was just better suited to it.
I wonder if Phil dislikes creative, scoring point guards because of his time in New York with Earl and Clyde. That’s a reach, but we can all see that Don Nelson hates big men because of his time in Boston.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Justin Walsh

Nick, I’m not saying he can’t put up the league average. I’m just saying that it was a very inefficient league average. The gripe wasn’t with you my man, only with Smush talking that trash with no room to talk squeek or squawk

  • http://www.slamonline.com John D

    Btw, it’s the Smushcalade.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Justin Walsh

Allenp, I just think Phil needs a PG who can make jumpers. Smush can’t shoot. Yeah, he can drive, but the NBA could sign ANY Dleague guy to drive in. But Smush just couldnt hit the jumper. I think Phil doesn’t have a problem with creative guards- I’m not sure Smush was creative. He just drove in and put it up. That’s not all that creative to me… And you’re right, MJ wasn’t the most loving teammate either. But saying overrated experience when you cant get respect in the DLeague is sad. and I don’t think he was blackballed, I just think he can’t play efficiently in the NBA. Blackballed is Craig Hodges. If you can efficiently play, attitude doesn’t matter…Remember JR Rider getting that many chances? Craig Hodges got screwed because he held an at the time radical viewpoint (even though it’s probably the right viewpoint). Smush isn’t in the league because the league has enough guards that don’t get burn even though they are efficient, the NBA doesn’t have roster room for an extremely inefficient PG.

  • http://www.hibachi20.blogspot.com BETCATS

to be fair, SLAM gave this guy a cover and like 2-3 articles, so he cant suck, right? But have any of you played with Kobe? He is great ON THE COURT but what makes any of you believe he is not the d0uche everybody else thinks he is?

  • http://www.slamonline.com Justin Walsh

SLAM also gave Telfair a cover haha

  • donlaker

once steve nash got in his head he became a non factor on the lakers, then pat riley told him, thanks but no thanks, then the clippers cut him,
his rep speaks for itself, next time pay the parking lady…. smush i guess summer leauge waits again…. good luck

  • Wendall Timberlake

    Smush…?

  • http://mindyourbusiness@getalife.com Allenp

    Justin
I wasn’t trying to shift all the blame on to the league.
Smush got signed by several teams because they thought he had some sort of talent that they needed. When that talent failed to materialize, Smush got cut.
However, I think that Smush got a reputation as a malcontent after playing for the Lakers, and Phil helped create that identity.
I guess, when I look at Phil Jackson and Kobe Bryant, I can understand why somebody would say playing for them is overrated. I wouldn’t want to play for Phil or play with Kobe. I respect their games, but I wouldn’t want to run with them. They are both sheisty.
    IMO

  • http://ittakesanationofmillionstoholdthissac.blogspot.com ciolkstar

    Smush had a cover?!?!?!
No wonder they keep it on a strictly Kobe, Bron, Wade, CP3, Dwight rotation nowadays…

  • http://hibachi20.blogspot.com BETCATS

Justin, have you seen Bassy playing recently?

  • http://www.slamonline.com Justin Walsh

BETCATS- you really think him playing okay on a bad team justifies a cover like 4 years ago?

  • Jackie Moon

    I got 99 problems but a Smush ain’t one.

  • http://hibachi20.blogspot.com BETCATS
