    I actually have a hookup in the Rio Grande Vipers front office and I was gonna get a chance to interview Smush and Joey Dorsey for the first ever interview for my blog when I was in south Texas a few months back, then my son got sick and I had to catch an early flight home. God knew better.

    I get what Smush is saying. Kobe might be (prolly is?) kind of an -ss…. but he’s in no position to make that comment on a park bench after playing in the nbdl and in china. look smush prolly has the talent to still play in the nba, but coaches like dudes that know what they are. smush seems like one of those dudes that thinks he could be an all-star with 35 minutes and a green light.

    I remember Smush on the Lakers, and for him to have been getting press @ the time must mean he was doing something right. People keep mentioning his low assist avg. Wasn’t this around the time when Kobe wouldn’t pass the ball. He just started 2 seasons ago. Also, he was starting over Jordan Farmar, so he must have been playing better @ the time. Ppl keep saying his jumpshot is bad, well Rondo isn’t the greatest shooter either, but he has a great big man to pass it 2 and great guys on the wing. He can play in the L he just has to find a team better suited for him and his style.

What team does he play for? O yea I forgot he’s no longer in the league

    Ya know, Smush was OK. He averaged double figure points for us, was a pretty good steals guy. Point guards don’t average many assists in the triangle. Offensively, his numbers are pretty much identical to D-Fish’s. There have been a couple of guys who went undrafted and became decent players (like Haslem and Jamario Moon, off the top of my head) and no one disparages them. The reason everybody says Smush sucks is because he disappeared come playoff time (in the last four games of the 2006 series he did NOTHING while Nash ATE HIM ALIVE; by the next years series he had lost his starting spot he was playing so poorly) and because his name was Smush, which makes him sound like an idiot. No one takes a guy named Smush seriously. He gets no respect.

    @pieman, Come on man, you can’t have both sides of the coin, don’t point to San Antonio’s post-season accolades and then herald the regular season victory by the Nuggets (who have struggled in the post season). Instead, look at it this way, the Nuggets are a team that is going in the wrong direction since the all-star break, and while this year has been better for them don’t fool yourself into thinking that they won’t get steamrolled by LA come playoff time. There is a legit argument for San Antonio, but I can’t see it happening with the Lakers dominance over them in the playoffs last year and the fact that LA has beaten them both in San Antonio and in Los Angeles this season. My real opinion is that LA has the West on lock (as for the finals, we’ll see, who knows), but I through Utah and Portland out there because thus far they have had some troubles with both teams when they met during the regular season. So if you really want to add the Spurs to that conversation, then go ahead. The Nuggets, not so much (same goes for the Mavs, Suns, Hornets, and Rockets).

    Kobe’s a tough teammate, but so was Jordan. from the looks of it, Smush jus couldn’t deal with the daily expectation or “pressure” of having to perform at the level of the rest of the team – a standard no doubt set by Kobe. what a loser to have to come out and say it like this..

    damn i used to love watchin smush play(when he was dunking ON peeps on the regular) he used reverse dunk every lob he caught, perhaps why i loved smush so much was because when he did, Ronny Turiaf would jump off the bench and break into one of his dances…guilty pleasure i think they call it…

    I love how all the Kobe-riders just come out and talk sh*t about Smush. Dude was asked a question. He gave his opinion. The saddest thing for Kobe-riders is that Smush’s opinion is contrary to theirs but has a much more informed basis. The fact is, if the posters here met Kobe, most of them probably would walk away saying to themselves, “What fvcking d*ck that guy is. He needs to get caught-up in life.”

    I agree as a fan of Kobe Bryant the basketball player that if I were to meet him I probably wouldn’t like Kobe Bryant the person. He seems like a sociopath. I could really give a sh*t. But still, Smush Parker looks like a chump talking sh*t in interviews after he couldn’t make it in the league.

    I don’t doubt that Kobe is uh, tough to work with. But I’d bet teammates of dominant players (Jordan, Bird, etc) would say the same thing.

    Smush has the right to his opinion, but for a dude that’s trying to get back into the League, it seems like a knucklehead thing to do to call out an MVP candidate with 3 rings.
