Slamadaday: Joakim Noah on Paul Pierce

Never enough Noah.

There were too many great plays to count in Game 6, but this sequence by Joakim Noah has to be right up there. In the third overtime period, ballgame tied at 123, with 40 seconds to go, Noah picks Paul Pierce’s pass and breaks out at full speed down the length of the court. With Pierce close on his back, Noah dribbles the ball without falter, actually gaining ground as they sprint to the goal. Employee No. 13 springs from 10 feet out, takes the contact and converts the cram.

Paul Pierce is done for the game, and the Bulls are on their way to a all-out gutsy win. This video personifies playing with heart.

    dude looked dead tired before that. it was a fatigue turnover/play. that one extra point he gave up was the difference.

    This sequence was pretty similar to a dream I had last night. Except there, instead of screaming to no one in particular, Noah decided to shout at KG’s face. And then Garnett began to bawl. And then Big Baby stifles a laugh.

    Oh man, such a crazy game. Paul was really tired, he couldn’t catch up when he was trying to run after Noah. Maybe, Kevin is gonna come out on game 7. By the way, nice dunk, Noah. Can’t wait till next year. You gotta average double-double next year. I’m out like the Spurs.

    Awesome game. Noah has been a beast, you gotta give the kid some credit, his effort and hustle won the game for Chi town. Paul Pierce is old.

    @Tyrone: This was amazing, however, best playoff dunk ever? That’s a stretch and definately not better than Baron “the Beard” Davis getting ridiculous on AK47, one of the best shot blockers in the L.

    im suprised paul didnt knock him on his @ss tho.
    why let that play be such a huge motavation switch?
    if your going to foul out, atleast make sure he doesnt make it.

    Just have to face it Nate, Noah’s quicker than Pierce in the open court. Double has never been a great athlete — probably the one weakness in his game — and it’s showing more now that he’s in his later years of his career.

    Actually, I think Pierce was jogging at first and was going to let teh play go, but then decided to go for it late because Noah can’t shoot free throws. He just made up his mind too late. I actually expected Noah to dribble the ball off of his foot.
