Mikhail Prokhorov: Jet Ski Daredevil

If the Nets don’t make the Playoffs next year, at least they’ll have some cool (and dangerous looking) activities to take part in with their new owner during the summer:

(Thanks to Nets über-fan Gerard for sending this in.)

So his hobbies include buying pro basketball teams, pimping, and jet ski stunts? This guy is my hero.

thanks for posting it Marcel. I’ve been posting for quite a while now at SLAMonline. Being a Nets fan as a dutch guy might be pretty weird, but I’m wondering: I think there are more dutch commenters here than Nets fans, or am I wrong? Am I the only Nets fan on SLAMonline??

Gerard, you’re the only Nets fan, period. The people that go to the games just live too far away from MSG.

Ok I’m pretty sure I’ve made it known that I’m a Nets fan.

Gerard, I’ve been a Nets fan since Drazen came through. And I don’t live too far from Izod, but it’s a pain in the neck to get there. Parking cost too much and that pedestrian tunnel looks like muggers walhalla.

  • Gerard Himself Posted: Sep.25 at 3:50 pm
wow Dutch Rich, I didn’t know you actually live in the U.S., cool. What will you do when they’ll move to Brooklyn?

  • Gerard Himself Posted: Sep.25 at 3:51 pm
    Boing Dynasty: brilliant.

  • Dutch Rich Posted: Sep.25 at 4:03 pm
I work in the city. Take the Q to Atlantic Ave. I actually moved from Brooklyn to NJ right before Ratner bought the team, and I was pretty bummed at the time. However now it doesn’t matter whether they go BK or to the Pru in Newark. As long as they get out of that swamp, it’s terrible. Every game will be sold out, geloof me.

man, I need to see the Nets myself one day…. grrrr…..

  • Josh D Posted: Sep.26 at 2:21 pm
Who cares about the Russian dude? He’s getting more press than the players these days the NBA is turning into the Premier League

  • Gerard Himself Posted: Sep.26 at 2:21 pm
oh, and in another response to the Dos Equis comment by Boing Dynasty: we’ve got a James Bond kind of guy here. I found a skiiing video of him, where he gets dropped off on the top of a mountain, and he just ski’s down: http://rutube.ru/tracks/1619381.html?v=551dcff579976ba42b3e37d8f70c7f91

Josh D: a lot of people care. Nets fans, for one. Cavs fans, Knicks fans, the Cavs franchice, the Knicks franchise, the Nets franchise, Brooklyn, a lot of journalists, a lot of russians, and mr. David Stern. And why? Because the guy is the richest owner in professional sports, has a great interest in basketball, and basically is “saving” a franchise that really needed help. With the NBA giving out loans to teams, including the Nets, here comes an owner who’s willing to eat up those losses, and try to keep on building on what the Nets currently have.
And it’s also the first NBA owner not born in the U.S. If this didn’t answer your question, I don’t know what will.

heh, nets fans. i thot i was alone in the universe

  • Gerard Himself Posted: Sep.30 at 8:06 am
don’t worry JUFU. We’re here. We have to battle through these difficult times, but let’s be honest: we’ve got a nice young and talented team, and to quote George Harrison: “here comes the sun.”
