Slamada – year? Dwyane Wade on Anderson Varejao

There was some dissent in the comments section yesterday with my selection for jam of the night. I have a feeling that today will be a different story. Welcome to poster-ville, Anderson:

Wade dunked so hard on Varejao, that Andy’s hair is now straight.

  • LOAF Posted: Nov.13 at 9:46 am
I LOVE THIS DUNK, ABOUSTLE FILTH COULD WATCH IT OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER….

  • The Law Posted: Nov.13 at 9:47 am
    No more flopping for you.

  • MJama Posted: Nov.13 at 9:54 am
i think this clip better encompasses the insanity of this dunk. It was posted so fast i couldn’t believe it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uL732LREmjw

  • Russ Bengtson Posted: Nov.13 at 10:02 am
Ben and I were at the game, and it was even filthier in person. Probably the best in-game dunk I’ve ever seen live.

  • Bruno Posted: Nov.13 at 10:07 am
    hahahahaha poor vareajo

  • Eboy Posted: Nov.13 at 10:07 am
Nice dunk Dwyane….get the win next time to make it more satisfying.

  • Reflex Posted: Nov.13 at 10:08 am
I jizz myself everytime I watch this dunk, pure unadulterated filth.

  • Daddy Norris Posted: Nov.13 at 10:17 am
I luv how D-WAde just steps over Anderson after he dunks on his ass.

  • John Gambill Posted: Nov.13 at 10:33 am
that dunk was sick, shannon brown going from practically the free throw line on the break was intense as well, tough decision two days in a row, but dunking on a notorious flopper should get the nod.

  • Dave Zirin Posted: Nov.13 at 10:34 am
It’s revenge for the IOC picking Rio over Chi-town! Best in-game dunk of the last two years.

  • Krishan Posted: Nov.13 at 10:47 am
Computer engineers all over the world were cheering on that dunk, because now they have the definitive example of human-ragdoll physics from that replay. Expect your video games to be more realistic, people.

  • Gerard Himself Posted: Nov.13 at 10:53 am
Yesterday’s game made me wonder: is Wade better than LeBron? When it comes to fundamentals, Kobe is the best player in the world. But who’s second? Why is LeBron second, and not Wade?

  • slamfan4life Posted: Nov.13 at 11:09 am
    DAMN SON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DUNKOFTHE YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DWADEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

  • drzmorenachula Posted: Nov.13 at 11:10 am
i just tweeted that lastnight. That better be the slam of da month on the upcoming issue. All two pages long!!! that was the most beautiful facial ive seen yet, and it was done by no one other then my #3 Miami Heat Wade!!

  • thomas Posted: Nov.13 at 11:12 am
is it just me or is reggie miller even worse this season… there’s no way he should be broadcasting games…

  • StorminNorman06 Posted: Nov.13 at 11:15 am
Can this please be the next SlamUp :D

  • 360vue Posted: Nov.13 at 11:18 am
    Disgraceful! Andy-pandy got absolutely posterized!
@Gerard Himself, Wade is numero two, simple as that

  • Seth Posted: Nov.13 at 11:25 am
Welcome to your Kodak moment, Varejao? Geez, Reggie.

  • Hisham Posted: Nov.13 at 11:33 am
read his lips: “That’s how I do it!! That’s the way do do it!” That dunk was a reminder for LeBron on how to dunk on a big man. It seems like he forgot on that play.

  • meloman2.5 Posted: Nov.13 at 11:39 am
I watched it while it was happening and i was in SHOCK!!….leave it to Reggie Miller to kill the mood.. Why couldn’t Kevin Harlan call that game instead?

  • tavoris Posted: Nov.13 at 11:46 am
I had to take a drink after that one…it’s already a great one when the defender has NO EXCUSE.

  • Adam Fleischer Posted: Nov.13 at 12:05 pm
I did a lot of hollering and shouting when this went down. A lot.

  • Jake Posted: Nov.13 at 12:16 pm
Hahahaha.I can just imagine what it must have been like seeing Nique or Chocolate thunder throwing them down back in the day, that was one sick dunk though.

  • antoine Posted: Nov.13 at 12:17 pm
I love how verejao just folds up after getting slammed on!!!!! lol

  • peter Posted: Nov.13 at 12:32 pm
the crazy thing is, it looks like he only decides at the last minute that he is going to dunk it…he is kinda crossing the lane not even full speed. ridiculous

  • rish Posted: Nov.13 at 12:44 pm
It must be really annoying to sit beside Shaq on the bench. Dude hogs too much leg room. And by the way, my vote so far for dunk of the year. That was nasty.

  • Kevin Posted: Nov.13 at 12:45 pm
Damn. that’s really all I can say

  • vmcb Posted: Nov.13 at 1:00 pm
this was the most rediculous dunk I have seen in a long time. I got right out of my chair for this one, and that chair is damn comfy.

  • cramzy Posted: Nov.13 at 1:05 pm
thank god for dvr. I was reading something when it happened and all I heard was the crowd, and Marv & Reggie going crazy.Had to hit that rewind button a few times.

  • Hangtime Hec Posted: Nov.13 at 1:23 pm
Somewhere on this planet, a human being will have that moment frozen on a wall. You have now been made into poster Sideshow bob!

  • Z Posted: Nov.13 at 1:28 pm
Gerard Himself: Wade outplayed Bron yesterday? Really?

  • DS44 Posted: Nov.13 at 1:47 pm
    Vara-ow!

  • LeoneL Posted: Nov.13 at 1:49 pm
Varejao: to flop or not to flop DWade: doesn’t matter boy!

  • jdn41 Posted: Nov.13 at 1:57 pm
honestly lebron will never get a fascial like this because he doesnt set it up. lebron beats his man off the dribble or first step blow by then open lane everyone clears out… Wade on the other hand that rocker step (originated from manu) fakes out jamario moon shifts sideshow out of position making him unable to block/flop/get out the way/hack/anything really and just get shitted on beautiful man

  • Rafael Posted: Nov.13 at 2:00 pm
I want to see this on a Sony 52 inch LCD T.V with freakin 2400z HD! Get on it human ingenuity!

  • filly Posted: Nov.13 at 2:02 pm
    poster!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • filly Posted: Nov.13 at 2:03 pm
    poster!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Gerard Himself Posted: Nov.13 at 2:07 pm
Z: you misread my post. I didn’t say Wade outplayed LeBron yesterday. I was just thinking out loud that Wade might be a slightly better player than LeBron at this point in their careers.

  • j4zzm4n Posted: Nov.13 at 2:24 pm
taste it anderson that was ahem , “sick, wicked and nasty” or dwyane wade “with no regard for human life!”.putting in classic quotes cos reggie just ruined the moment in terms of audio quality.but ah man that was awesome!!!

  • Tommy Vercetti Posted: Nov.13 at 2:24 pm
Varejao got baptised by Wade. What did he do to Wade to deserve that?

  • JD Posted: Nov.13 at 3:26 pm
    Best dunk of the year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • la huey Posted: Nov.13 at 3:55 pm
I loved the dunk! Every superstar owes it to his big man to follow a stop like that into a poster.

  • rog123 Posted: Nov.13 at 4:00 pm
I’m a cavs fan and I think that Andy gets too tooooo much hate. He is a hustle player that evryone would want on their bench. Tough as hell. Yes he flops waay too much but still, he knows his role on his team. Anyways….. THAT DUNK! ! ! !

  • Slam Reader Posted: Nov.13 at 4:13 pm
This is the craziest sh*t I ever watched!!!
    D-Wade is a monster!

  • BearsPaw Posted: Nov.13 at 4:24 pm
Watch for Varejao’s feet in the background of the 1st replay. THe guy is a living cartoon

  • Sporting-Lisbon-Blazers Posted: Nov.13 at 5:36 pm
DUNK OF THE YEAR!!!FLASH IS MADNESS…now someone please give Andy a hug..lol…funny wow Bron see his teammate getting sh!ted on and walks the other way instead of helping the poor guy…

  • Michael NZ Posted: Nov.13 at 6:12 pm
There is no-one I like watching more than Mr Wade. And that was before this slamadayear.

  • ENDS Posted: Nov.13 at 7:27 pm
Salm of the Last 5 Years. Think of one better..

  • Michael Scorn Posted: Nov.13 at 7:29 pm
From the above view, you can see Wade pushing off with his left arm to get extra space. Offensive foul.

  • drewz Posted: Nov.13 at 7:46 pm
reggie miller is the WORST announcer in history

  • Z Posted: Nov.13 at 7:56 pm
gerard: i would disagree but i gues that argument can be made

  • Flash Posted: Nov.13 at 10:17 pm
nobody at 6-4 can do it like dwade can!

  • Flash Posted: Nov.13 at 10:19 pm
andy just died right thurr! i can’t stop laughing while he’s falling down haha

  • Dacre Posted: Nov.13 at 10:21 pm
the next slam cover should actually be 2 seconds after the finish: wade standing tall with the expression of pure ownership and varaj flat on his back with his KNEES UP IN HIS MOUTH.

  • Flash Posted: Nov.13 at 10:23 pm
this is how u do it lebron… dwade schooled him right thurr!

  • LilKDub Posted: Nov.13 at 10:25 pm
Slamadamonth please. Or a SLAMUP. This must go on my wall, next to the Dunk of Death. If Slamadamonth, make it like a sequence; gather, takeoff with his hand in the air with maybe a reverse shot, the flush, then his triumph while stepping over Varejao.

  • B-More Mike Posted: Nov.13 at 11:38 pm
Ends: I’m not saying it’s better but don’t forget V.C over Mourning in MIA a couple of years ago when he was with Jersey.

  • Costa Posted: Nov.14 at 1:20 am
Michael Scorn: Those are comments of a typical hater. Bringing out the negative of something great. Chech this picture and you tell me if this is more offensive than defensive… http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t229/miamiuk/dwyane_wade_anderson_varejao.jpg

  • nastierthanu Posted: Nov.14 at 1:31 am
Its a matter of preference. I love the one foot crams because u always get the thrust knee in the victims chest but I love the “lean” where u can turn side ways and use the free arm for further humiliation. Carmelo’s this year was disgusting.

  • niQ Posted: Nov.14 at 2:01 am
I’m going to get flamed for this but.. did anyone else notice Wade pushing him Anderson aside with his other arm? And it also looked like he gave him quite a knee in the gut..

  • Darksaber Posted: Nov.14 at 3:28 am
yeah niQ, luckily all that was negated by Sideshow Varejao flopping yet again. (i kid, i kid, he challenged and got BEAT DOWN. BOW DOWN AND KISS HIS JORDANS, ANDERSON!)

  • Anton Posted: Nov.14 at 5:05 am
Up next: Ty Lawson on Josh Powell and Congo

ENDS: baron davis’ forearm to kirilenko’s mug would like a word with you

  • jb Posted: Nov.14 at 8:19 am
reggie hates the cavs. but SICK dunk, SICK

  • Dave Posted: Nov.14 at 8:51 am
Gerard – I’m quietly confident that we’ll look back in fifteen years and think that Wade was always better than Bron.

  • Ben Posted: Nov.14 at 9:45 pm
That was so beautiful to see Varejao lying on the floor after getting his ass handed to him by Wade. I can now die a happy man.

  • Black Knight Posted: Nov.14 at 10:57 pm
Varejao might need counseling after that that dunk.

  • jufu Posted: Nov.15 at 3:07 pm
this dunk is rated-R. not appropriate for children or andersen varejao.

  • Michael Scorn Posted: Nov.15 at 4:03 pm
Way to step out of the way and not stop the ball Jamario Moon. I thought LeBron was the king of chasing down offensive players and blocking them from behind. Oh that’s right, Wade and James are friends.

  • Ramon R7O Posted: Nov.15 at 5:35 pm
IM BRAZILIAN BUT I GOTTA SAY, IF I WAS VAREJAO I WOULD STOP BALLIN IN THE NBA AND GO BACK TO BRAZIL AFTER THAT….. DUNK OF THE MONTH OR YEAR!!!

  • vic21 Posted: Nov.15 at 6:28 pm
    gotta be the shoes…

  • Z Posted: Nov.15 at 11:11 pm
mmmm it IS kinda suspect that bron didnt run full speed behind him to try to get the block. and don’t tell me it was because d-wade can fly. he ran after j-rich last year.

  • Rnz Posted: Nov.16 at 4:01 am
Lets just enjoy the dunk shall we?…if you love basketball, you’ll love that dunk…dayum

  • Allenp Posted: Nov.16 at 12:58 pm
Manu didn’t invent that little rocker step that Wade used. Somebody posted that incorrect information.

  • tavoris Posted: Nov.16 at 1:37 pm
    well put, rnz

  • tavoris Posted: Nov.16 at 1:39 pm
everyone dog’s Reggie’s announcing. I prefer whis whiny voice over Stephen A Smith’s Lawrence Fishburne impersonations

  • liam Posted: Nov.16 at 11:50 pm
    Z Posted: Nov.15 at 11:11 pm
mmmm it IS kinda suspect that bron didnt run full speed behind him to try to get the block. and don’t tell me it was because d-wade can fly. he ran after j-rich last year. ” that deserves a lifetime ban. dont ever compare jrich speed ot dwade speed or finsihing ability. he knows aint no one catching dwade in the open court once he’s ahead of you.

  • Hursty Posted: Nov.17 at 7:25 am
    liam ^ FAILS.
So A. Daye didn’t block Wade in the pre-season? C’mon man. Think about what you’re saying. “aint no one catching dwade”.
    Well, that’s someone.

  • danno Posted: Nov.17 at 9:03 am
that just reminded me of dunking in NBA Live 96

  • rog123 Posted: Nov.17 at 1:26 pm
Ends: I believe bron over duncan was greater. Wades dunk was great, but varejao was prolly flopping a bit. Bron threw it down on one of the best power forwards EVER!!!!!

  • rog123 Posted: Nov.17 at 1:27 pm
BTW Varejaos reaction seemed very fake. But wade did give him the business

  • giogolo Posted: Nov.18 at 1:23 am
    Sick.

  • giogolo Posted: Nov.18 at 1:26 am
Bron threw it down on KG and Duncan. Both of them(dwade) are sick.

  • [...] was for Anderson Varejao!!!”, Hickson did not necessarily yell at Wade following the [...]
