My dude! He seems like a fun guy to be around. Dude looks skinny compared to last year though.

  • Allenp Posted: Nov.24 at 1:24 pm
Yeah, I thought he was fat, but dude is just big. He could play power forward in the league.

  • peter Posted: Nov.24 at 1:27 pm
    this is simply amazing…

  • Brad Long Posted: Nov.24 at 1:28 pm
Damn, I had no idea how swollen dude was. “He might be giving me a book tommorrow.” Hilarious.

  • Gerard Himself Posted: Nov.24 at 1:41 pm
throughout the entire interview (about 8 minutes) he’s saying that he’s embarrassed or something like that, grabs his shirt to put it on, but doesn’t actually put it on. This happens about 5 times haha Well, Phil Jackson is a man of quotes (like what he said on Gasol and CSI), so can’t wait til Jackson responds.

  • Z Posted: Nov.24 at 3:06 pm
that’s freaking coonery. i’m just saying.

  • Wendallt Posted: Nov.24 at 4:24 pm
that was amazing, i didnt know ron was that kool!

  • Jon Sinn Posted: Nov.24 at 4:29 pm
That was amazing!!! How does TO get a reality show but not Ron-Ron. I would pay 50-100 bucks an episode for a Ron Artest Reality show. Still think stuff like this will sink the Lakers this season though… JS

  • Myles Brown Posted: Nov.24 at 4:31 pm
That was hardly coonery. It was someone with enough self awareness and sense of humor to make light of their reputation for bizarre behavior. Stop acting like the n*gga was tap dancing on the desk while spitting watermelon seeds. Or like hes a Wayans brother.

  • 360vue Posted: Nov.24 at 4:44 pm
    “Hoodilize”
    “freeballin” what a joker

  • Brad Long Posted: Nov.24 at 4:57 pm
Myles:we’ve missed your wisdom here. “Wayan’s Brother” had me crying.

  • Allenp Posted: Nov.24 at 5:21 pm
I agree with Myles that it wasn’t coonery. I don’t think Artest was trying to please Kimmel or make himself more acceptable to white folks.
I was more like an “eff you” to everybody making him look stupid for running to the team bus with nothing but shorts on. To all the people who act like he’s some sort of infant with limited brain function. Artest is imbalanced in some ways, but he’s also pretty smart.

  • Vikturus Posted: Nov.24 at 5:53 pm
Ron Artests off-court amazingness has no limit!

  • TADOne Posted: Nov.24 at 6:10 pm
    Ron Artest makes life better.

  • Z Posted: Nov.24 at 6:15 pm
I respect your opinions, Allen and Myles, and h is very far from the Wayans brothers but I have to disagree. If the intent was to make light of his weirdo rep, to me, it totally backfired. Not even Tracy Morgan does that. He gave Kimmel and the audience exactly what they wanted. You think they got the impression from this that Ron Ron is actually well-adjusted? Of course not, he was running around in his underwears. Ron is a stupid n*gga who keeps on making stupid decisions and acting like a fool. That’s what I would tell him if I were his friend. He just so happens to be good at basketball. This doesn’t affect the Lakers in any way, I’m just kinda sad for him. Jimmy Kimmel is NOT laughing with you, bro.

  • doyouwantmore Posted: Nov.24 at 7:11 pm
Totally agree with Z. I’m watching this and thinking “Dude, you are a grown man on national television in your DRAWERS.” Acting stupid for attention is not the same thing as being funny or entertaining.

  • doyouwantmore Posted: Nov.24 at 7:17 pm
LOL Dude goes on TV to say no way would he ever do something as knuckleheaded as jumping on a bus with only his underwear on, but he does it in his underwear on TV. No dignity.

  • Teddy-the-Bear Posted: Nov.24 at 7:32 pm
Coonery? Z, that was disrespectful. I don’t even care if Artest was being stupid by showing up half-naked, but calling that an act of coonery is just wrong.
And what does Tracy Morgan have to do with any of this? He’s great at what he does, and that’s making people laugh.
Also, Will Ferrell can act ten times as stupid as any other actor out there, black or white. But he’s praised for it, despite acting incredibly stupid on screen. I’m not saying its right, but he sure isn’t selling himself–neither is Ron-Ron.
    Moreover, Tracy Morgan is awesome.

  • 360vue Posted: Nov.24 at 8:43 pm
@Z - I can see what you’re saying about it being ‘coonery’. I can see how for some people who watched they’ll have thought that he was some n*g*a fool. But really, Ron was just making light of everything. In my view, it seems fairly narrowminded that just because the dude’s having a laugh and doesn’t take himself too seriously to bring race into this; just as narrowminded as those watching who brought the issue of race into their preconceptions on the man.

  • 360vue Posted: Nov.24 at 8:48 pm
Ahaha, just seen this! http://www.slamonline.com/online/nba/2009/11/video-artest-tosses-arizas-shoe/ Ron is a born practical joker

  • Chukaz Posted: Nov.24 at 9:43 pm
What the fu… this ai’t slamadaday?

  • Gerard Himself Posted: Nov.25 at 2:07 am
Teddy’s right. Will Ferrell has been on Conan (his previous show Late Night) quite a lot in only his underwear, he’s older than Artest, but strangely enough I never hear people complain when a guy like Ferrell does that. But now that Artest does it? “Coonery”. That’s not really how it works Z. Sure, you can say that Ferrell is an actor and Artest is a ballplayer, but both are on a show trying to entertain the crowd, the people watching a show late at night in front of the TV. Nothing wrong with this clip. Some of these posts are truly embarrassing to read.

  • DIMITRIS DIAMANTIDIS Posted: Nov.25 at 4:30 am
really funny, i always liked Ron Artest.

  • Z Posted: Nov.25 at 7:09 am
I love it when guys make the argument for yourself. Who said that Ferrell doesn’t look like an idiot in his underwear? 1- However, the fact that he is an actor and basically gets paid to get laughed at is a HUGE difference. That’s what his movies and his whole career is about, people laughing at his characters. 2- Another big difference, is that Ferell plays a character when he does that, I’ve read interviews about him and that’s not how he truly is at all. 3- Most of all, it has nothing to do with Ron Artest looking like a damn fool. If you feel that anything goes to entertain a crowd, then that’s you. But, again, if I were a friend of Artest, I’d tell him that he just lost some dignity right there and people at home are not telling themselves that he’s quite the entertainer but rather that he’s a freaking lunatic rapping about Afghan women.

  • reidz Posted: Nov.25 at 8:38 am
damned, lighten up everyone. I thought it was quite cool actually. Why does every basketball player have to wear a suit, say the same, correct boring things and be a boring interview to be accepted as “mature” and “professional”. Nothing Ron Ron has done on the court this year indicates that he is anything but mature and professional. And also, no one in the locker room has indicated anything else.

  • Reflex Posted: Nov.25 at 11:16 am
Co-sign reidz and every one else who can see the lighter side of this. This is far from coonery, Artest is just having fun. He’s not out representing black people on JK’s show, he’s just doing him. The dude’s too sharp on the court for anyone to suggest any cerebral deficiencies. He plays hard (on the court) and enjoys himself off it. Kudos to him.

  • Allenp Posted: Nov.25 at 11:26 am
    Z
I respect your feelings even if I disagree in this instance.
Some of y’all are missing the point with Z’s statement. I think it’s a valid argument in some instances, but in this case I feel like Artest was doing this more to show people up.
    Reflex
Whether or not a black person is representing all black people depends entirely on the mindset of the person watching him.

  • Myles Brown Posted: Nov.25 at 2:16 pm
“They shoulda never gave you n*ggas money!”

  • nastierthanu Posted: Nov.26 at 6:19 am
I’m not scared to say it so I will. If I had a body like artest I wouldn’t wear a shirt either. When I had 4% body fat I never wore a shirt. My boys and I had a “no shirt 97 agreement.”. If u were caught with ur shirt on u had to give it up. If u got it flaunt it.
