Video: Kyle Korver Stuffs LeBron

You may think Sundiata Gaines’ (who?) game winner was the highlight of the night. But, I’ll never forget Korver giving LeBron a taste of his own medicine:

  • james

    HUGEST travel ever
with a ref less than a meter away this is such bullshit
    any other player….

  • Fernando

    Travel!

  • Dirtybird

That should be on message board avatars everywhere!

Unless I missed it,I think BSPN refained from showing this, knowing how they worship King James.

  • Czar Ruke

^That makes no sense at all.

  • heartlandG

Creighton Bluejays b*tch! Omaha, Neblastya stand up

  • Vish

it is crazy how many travels per game Lebron gets away with…..

  • Peter

    That was a HUGE travel

  • Brickshooting J

That was traveling indeed. Three steps. In any case, very nice defense by Korver.

  • kh

    Left handed!

  • underdog

How about his ‘above the backboard’ shot? It was just too much miracle for one night.

  • Bruno

hey did the jazz bench dance after that???

  • Hornet

@Peter : you are so right!!!
But it’s the NBA where the rules are applied in a very strange way.
Europeans are much more strict about it that’s why the scores are so low in points.
Imagine Lebron or D-Wade or Mello breaking a zone defense (not saying’ i am pro zone defenses) in Europe with 3 steps instead of 2.
they’re scoring average would be down and they would have to develop the jumper and use it as their primary weapon(not just attacking the basket).

I guess they gonna make a new rule in the nba for three steps since they allow the “KING” to do it.

  • Monday Night Live

The commentators did not even mention te block?? lol

plays like that(lebrons travel) are what really make me mad. i mean, most superstars travel and get away with it, but lebron travels more than anyone i have ever seen by far, which allows him to get to the rim SO much easier. one more step gives u such an advantage. idk, i just sit there sometimes when he is going off and all the announcers are on his nuts shakin my head cuz they praise him so much for his excellent moves to the basket when clearly he travels on half of them, even when they show them in slow motion they dont say anything about him traveling. o, and before everyone starts callin me a hater, i dont like lebron. i dont hate his game(well, his traveling i do), i hate his attitude and arrogance

  • Vish

@ Logues – absolutely. all the good defenders anticipate the offensive player taking off after his two steps….one more step messes the timing and the anticipation….i mean they should really start calling travel more diligently…..

  • http://www.realcavsfans.com Anton

Almost as good as Wally blocking Bill Walker.

  • james

lebron holds the balls too damn long

  • http://www.yahoo.com Logues

Vish: exactly, i mean these refs im sure are gettin paid pretty well and are supposed to be the best in the world and they are missing easy travel calls that guys like us could make. i dont care if the guy is a superstar like bron, u gotta treat him just like everyone else, to me its kinda cheating the game. there is a reason these rules were made

  • Vish

Logues : and we all wonder why Team USA struggles in international competition. The FIBA refs are going to call that travel 8 times out of 10. i remember a few years back the so called ‘crossovers’ were blatant palming violations. thankfully the refs started calling those (maybe not on the superstars, but still) and that has reduced considerably. I wish they would just call the travel instead of altering the rules to suit the superstars. I was watching this game with my young cousin and she kept asking me why the travels were not being called. Even worse than this was Lebron stepping back beyond the three point line without a dribble after his missed freethrow and hitting the shot. I know some guys will say I am hating on Lebron. I am not. I am just calling a spade a spade…I mean some of the violations that Dwight does under the bucket are absolutely ridiculous…call the damn travel

  • http://slamonline.com JL

the NBA basically decided to go the other way when they changed the rule book to basically 2.5 steps now. I agree with the previous posters that it’s a joke and while most players (namely the scrubs and role players) don’t take 3 steps, it’s the superstars that do. Is it because they take advantage of the (previously unwritten) rule that they are that much better? I doubt it, but it’s probably because they are trying to get every last bit of edge to win. That said, I still don’t like all the traveling. They need to work on their fundamentals and post moves more (who really has great post moves (non-european), rather than bending the rules for the players.

  • Vish

JL – yeah the 2.5 steps rule is a bad joke….what scares me more is that there is a whole generation of young kids who watch these games and idolize their fav players, trying to copy their moves (just like we did when we were green) won’t think twice before traveling….or palming….or any other violation they see not being called on a consistent basis

  • Joe

LeBron just got PUNK’D by Ashton Kutcher!!!!!!!!!!

  • Sparker

i’m surprised the digital file hasn’t been confiscated

  • http://www.slamonline.com James the Balla

Guys … it’s Bron… we should know this by now.

  • http://www.michaelcho.com M Cho

no seriously though, i didnt even see this in the highlights…

  • http://www.michaelcho.com M Cho

like tayshaun prince used to always do this, but apparently its Lebrons signature play…. and i haven’t even mentioned the travel, or the travel when he got his own freethrow rebound and shot a 3 without dribbling

  • Peter

This sort of travel is usually called though…in my mind the biggest difference between Euro travels and NBA is before the dribble…either catching and taking a step before you dribble or squaring up and shuffling your feet…which don’t give a huge advantage to the offensive player and aren’t called to maintain the flow of the game…travels after picking up the ball though are a whole different story and should be more diligently called…the block was sick…his head was at the bottom of the net!

  • The Wize

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bQ4-U-ej4iw this didn’t even make Top 5 last night, it’s not paranoia if they are really out to get you

  • The Wize

so it didn’t make the NBA Top Ten and surprisingly there was no mention of it on Holly’s post either hahaha

  • money

u guys are bullshitin. a lot of guys takin three steps. and thats nothing new. they been doin it for over 10 years.

  • kudos

hilarious that i didn’t see this on the espn highlight reel of the game. Lebron always travels at least 5+ times a game, so is it really a surprise that the ref’s are used to it now?? Let’s look a lil closer and realize that lebron will never foul out, EVER, in all 82 games cuz they won’t let him. Erryone needs to know the nba’s refs are worse than the ones in high school. They’re the three blind mice.

  • fizzrocket

    3 steps? More like five.

  • http://www.nba.com/playerfile/sean_marks/index.html Michael NZ

Call the fu(king travel please. Its getting ridiculous, no?

  • ian

    white men can’t what!!!!!

  • Josh

As soon as I saw the video, I knew that there would be comments on the travel. It was legitimately 3.5 steps, the half coming from when the ball is gathered and then 3 full steps afterwards. If I travel, I know for sure as soon as i’ve done it, maybe ‘Bron’s become so accustomed to travelling that he doesn’t know anymore.. lol Siiiick block though!

  • http://slamonline.com Dave

    Ahahaha.
    Ahahaha.
    Oh, and once more.
    Ahahaha.

  • J

seriously, i didn’t see that on the game.

  • Charles

Pause it each time he steps, it wasn’t travel. Allowed one step while picking the ball up. Then he jumps off his left. If he really took 3 steps he would have jumped off his right because everyone is taught to jump off there left foot, you know right left. And on the left side your supposed to jump off your right foot, you know left right. Just pause it at each step, and you all will see.

  • Sporting-Lisbon-Blazers

not a travel fellas. cant the king take like 300 steps without dribling?! f)cking ridiculous! and im a big fan of the man´s game!

  • Yesse

Lol what a travel. Are the refs seriously just sleeping when the superstar’s travel.

  • Dillan

Great Block! Liked the fact that Korver reacted expecting the refs NOT to call the travel.

NBA rules are pretty relaxed when it came to travelling. Lebron is no exception.

PaT Ewing did it then. Pete Maravich’s double dribble is an NBA highlight. It’s more obvious now with replay tech.

Euro games has better fundamentals BUT check out the flops and fakes. Anderson V has got nothing on these guys when it comes to flops and fakes.

  • http://IJustWantMyNameToLookBig.com Chukaz

wow i just lost a ton of respect for bron n i didn’t have that much to begin with…

  • michael scorn

I think defenses have done a good job of anticipating LeBron’s travels so that they can get the timing right to jump on defense.

  • Africanballer

its funny that every time the world embraces you, somehow people have a problem with it. Huge travel indeed, and I also don’t get it that refs didn’t call. But what does that have to do with lebron being arrogant. somethings are so personal that when one makes a mistake (i.e 3 steps) all of a sudden it’s king this, spoiled that etc.

  • Someloser

Lebron traveled all the way back to Akron on that one. The only way he could’ve traveled worse would be for him not to even dribble the ball. This is just absurd…

  • http://slamonline.com Dave

“what does that have to do with lebron being arrogant?”
He doesn’t make “a mistake” and misstep. He picks up the ball and walks into the locker room, has a shower, does his nails, checks his teeth, walks back on court and scores a basket every fast break and every cutting play as par for course. He’s built his game around never getting called for a travel. If that isn’t arrogant I don’t know what is.
But the way, has anyone else noticed that Bron’s straight up vertical sucks? He leaps like Glenn Rice – nothing if he’s not running. Which, if those travels were called, is why he’d lose four or five points per game. He has no post moves, hell no offensive moves other than his jumper that don’t rely on a three step burst to the basket. When he blows out his knee his game is going to go to hell.

  • Think Before Speaking

For someone with “no post moves, no offensive moves other than his jumper…etc.” it’s amazing he’s 2nd in the NBA in scoring (29.5 ppg) while shooting over 50% from the field. at the same time, he’s averaging almost 8 assists per game, so it’s not like he’s a Kobe or Carmelo, taking every shot and not passing. and in the event you actually watch a Cavs game, you’ll notice that he absolutely dominates whoever tries to guard him. his game and the stats speak for themselves.
By the way, has anyone seen that LeBron rejection of Yao? Couldn’t help but notice there was no “3-step burst” prior to swatting a 7 and a half foot giant. that’s called straight-up VERTICAL.

  • Think Before Speaking

here’s a link to LeBron swatting Yao… jumping off both feet:

  • http://fjkld.com Jukai

The problem with the NBA all-stars (Kobe does this a lot… he just drives less) is that they almost catch the ball and take a step simultaneously, so refs REALLY don’t know if they stopped their dribble or just moved before the dribble reached their hand. I actually thought it was a legitimate move until it was slowed down.
    You guys gotta stop whining.

  • mad max

OMG an NBA player got a block. Shouldn’t have counted. 3 steps clearly. waste of 50+ comments. peace.

  • jay

    trrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrravel!!!! 3 steps

  • therighttoremainsalient

The traveling violation and the proceeding non-call highlights everything that is wrong with time, space and the vague sheen of humanity the NBA is ensconced within.

  • Jack

What pisses me off just as much, if not more than the no-call on the travel, is the fact that LeBron has a b!tch about not getting a f*cking foul call. Talented though he is, he will still always be Queen James to me.

  • Kent Kanada

    cracka slap!

  • michael scorn

It seems like LeBron would love the dunk contest, since dribbling isn’t enforced at all.

  • Charles

You people are really big lebron haters seriously, I’m a Kobe stan so I’m saying this out of personal experience and from watching a lot of basketball. HE IS NOT TRAVELING! I did that all through high school and I never was called for travel. All high school, college, nba, and street ballers do what lebron just did. It isn’t travel. It is 2 steps. If it wasn’t Lebron would not have jumped off his left foot AND THATS FACTS!

  • Jdubbs

Yeah, why all the hate for Lebron, the guy is probably the most amazing athlete in any sport.

  • myk3stan

a taste of his own medicine…hell, that was way too many steps…curiously the ref didn’t see it…
