Video: Manu Ginobili’s Huge Block on Kevin Garnett

I think it’s safe to say that were KG still alive (athletically speaking), there’s no way something like this would ever happen to him. Sigh:

@Ree Roe – Did you even watch the replay? If I could post a screenshot here, I would, with Hills hand firmly on KG’s forearm, before Manu blocks the shot. And I’m a Lakers fan, so it’s tough to see how I could possibly be a KG fan.

  • franko

Manu is great! Durant an KG are Facebook fans!

  • frank

    stuffed like thanksgiving dinner.

  • matt

manu, when healthy, is the 2nd best 2-guard in the league (behind kobe)

Damn the players I grow up watching in the 2000′s are all slowing. KG,Nash,Kidd,T-Mac, Vince Carter,Tim Duncan, Shaq, even Kobe but I didn’t imagine the day Iverson wouldn’t be able to cross somebody over because he wasn’t quick enough it happened when the Bulls were facing the Sixers in probably AI’s last game ever and AI tried crossing over Kirk Hinrich to get a shot off but Hinrich didn’t move a inch. DAMN! Sadly Kobe is next.

@Jackie – Yes, Hill fouled Garnett but that had little to do with the outcome. It was the massive block that threw KG down.

  • Logues

ya, uh there was def a foul on hill. five yrs ago, kg woulda smashed that down manus throat

  • Dallas

    WOW !!
That was an awesome block Manu G is a boss man.

  • iLL wiLL

Things done changed. KG would have crammed one on GINO-Buh-LEE a couple seasons back.

i think this play sums up the celtics’ season pretty well. i think it’s highly possible that they won’t even advance past the first round.

“the force is strong with you obi wan ginobli ” – TRUTH.
    Eboy is right.

  • letsmotor

first and foremost, great play by ginobli. that was great help defense and a perfectly-timed block. at the same time, does this really have all that much to do with KG aging? i know it was a very dramatic play and everything, but when you’re in the middle of the air, if someone strong makes contact with you or the ball (especially when the ball’s way above your head), it’s easy to end up on your back. also, it’s worth mentioning that not only did hill make contact with KG’s arm, but he also seemed to be forcing it downward, which definitely had something to do with KG going down.

  • nastierthanu

Really manu top 30 all time. Stay of drugs!!! Happens to the best of em. Everyone gets old anyone remember the dunk kg caught against the rockets when barkley, the dream and drexler were ballin. Its his time to get got but he gave way more than he got. 1st ballot HOF’r

  • Teddy-the-Bear

Eboy is mad because Ginboli is South American.

  • Teddy-the-Bear

    NAh, I’m just playing Eboy.

  • http://IJustWantMyNameToLookBig.com Chukaz

Since when are we back to slavery here in america? I mean, KG just got owned!!!

  • Teddy-the-Bear

^ What the hell? Not okay, man. Seriously..

  • letsmotor

@Chukaz: gotta agree with teddy-the-bear. over the line.

  • vtrobot

@ matt: i think the stats would support your argument that manu is the 2nd best 2 guard. @ ree roe, damn dude, where does that much hate come from? did KG talk sh*t to you? if KG and co. knock out your team this year, will you show some respect? your over the top hate is as annoying as the fanboys’ love. who really cares what he says to other players during the game?

  • Ree Roe

@ vtrobot, KG is a punk, bottomline. As a Hawks fan & a fan of professional basketball, KG has disrespected my team & disgraced the game multiple times with his childish & vulgar actions on the court. With all due respect to how good of a player he is/was, it baffles me how anyone can be a fan of that clown.

  • vtrobot

@ ree roe: as a hawks fan, you probably have one of the better arguments (maybe CHI fans have the best case). i’m not saying that KG hasn’t done sh*t that’s been disrespectful to fans, opponents, the game, etc. not saying that he doesn’t punk out a little when up against people like zsa zsa. just try to let some of his remaining skills and competitiveness, and the good things he’s done for the game, ease some of the deep hate you feel for the dude. it seems like people get so worked up about KG talking shit and grabbing his nuts, and occasionally starting sh*t with someone smaller than him. what else has he really done that’s even close to a ton of sh*te that other players have done? as a fan of basketball, before any team, i have a lot of respect for the hawks and will enjoy watching them go far in this year’s playoffs. besides lacking size, they’re probably the most balanced team in the east, with TWO underrated best closers in the game. It’s going to be entertaining.

  • Doris

Finally, KG just shut his dirty mouth on this play. way to go Manu!

  • Th3_R3al_Chris

I swear, humanity gets dumber day by day. That foul had little to do with the block? You mean little more than holding KG running to the hole back as George Hill collided with him before Ginobili got there, right? Are we watching the same video?

  • vtrobot

please don’t argue that hill didn’t commit a foul on that play. part of the reason why manu was able to get such a clean block is because george hill was hanging onto KG’s arm. you’re foolish to say otherwise. i’m liking the increased use of replay (even when they take away rondo treys).

  • http://twitter.com/dfrance21 dfrance21

George Hill fouled him that is not up for debate. With that being said, he probably still would have ended up on his back because of the force that Manu came at him with. And any of you that actually have played basketball in real life would know, when you go up off one leg like that, its really easy to end up on your back with the right contact. KG was barely off the ground and Manu was in full flight so he had the advantage.

  • http://twitter.com/dfrance21 dfrance21

And what is all this take about karma coming back to KG and all that nonsense. So what he talks crap on the bball court? He’s not the first and definitely won’t be the last. Some of yall act like he walks down the street cursing at old ladies.

  • Ree Roe

@ vtrobot, listen bruh. I’ma keep it all the way real with ya: KG’s a hoe & he’s gonna always be one. Just b/c he’s a 1st ballot HOF’er & was one of the top 5-10 players of the last decade doesn’t grant him a pass for his hoeish behavior. And let’s not get it twisted @dfrance. There’s a difference b/w talkin s*** on the court & behaving like a full fledged lunatic who disrespects players & the game like KG is known to do. Yall KG fanboys can give that idiot a pass all yall want, but I have no love for the caricature he’s become. Damn I wish the Hawks see the Celtics in the playoffs this postseason.

  • vtrobot

@ ree roe: cool. you can think what you want. as i said, not all of the hate is undeserved, there’s just too much of it for KG overall. it will be great if the C’s and Hawks meet up. i think it will be a real battle and it will be interesting to see if the old men can still hang. and it will be interesting to see how bibby does vs. rondo. hawks fans will be pissed if those teams finish with the same record and the hawks get the harder route to the ECF because of that lame division title rule.

  • Ree Roe

@ vtrobot, I see that you’re a Celtics fan so I understand KG gets a pass from you, but to alot of people & fans of the NBA his act is old. I don’t kno if you appreciate how deeply KG has offended people, but the disdain for KG is real.

  • big easy

Ree Roe- to you it may seem like KG disrespected alot of people, but many people also look up to KG as a one of the fiercest competitors ever. Hes not in the NBA to make friends, hes in it to win championships and be the hardest working player on the court, and in my opinion, hes succeed on both.

  • DEC

FOUL! Haters need to show more respect for KG. He has achieved the highest possible honor in the game of basketball: winning a championship as a Boston Celtic.

  • RedRum

well… it has nothing to do with athleticism as the guy who wrote the caption said.. Manu did what any clever defender does who is shorter, try to block the ball early. Even if it was KG as a rookie, Manu would still put a hand on that ball

  • al

Ginobilli is not in his prime athletically either. That was awesome

  • http://www.asdf.com Fred34

Proving once again that those Americans are soft. ^_^

  • The Philosopher

There is a lot of anti American sentiment on these threads. But that being said, everyone in the entire world knows, recognizes, and understands, that the United States of America is, was, and will continue to be the greatest, most dominant country humanity has ever seen. And anyone who disagrees, they are delusional. Period.

  • http://www.asdf.com Fred34

Hey, times change. It used to be an all US-league with one or two soft non-Yanks. Not anymore. Americans are known loud mouths, blow hards, and head cases and they SOFT. :P

  • maik

kg was my favourite player for a long time, but i stopped liking him when he strated taunting people.my favourite moment is when he gets dunked on and blocked, but honestly george hill did foul him. even tho manu had all ball in the same moment hill had all arm…
