Video: Mike Gilchrist – No. 1 Player in Class of 2011

The best player in the Class of 2011? You knew who that was since Michael Gilchrist was 15. Now it’s time to see him in action (courtesy of BallisLife):

hMM, Can’t wait to see vid…. after work =.=

  • sbk

I like him better than Harrison Barnes

  • Jer Boi

I understand it’s just the highlights and stuff, but does he have a good jump shot? there’s only one in the whole video.

  • Largo

    DMV with another one.

  • Billy Sundayd

his jumper looks nasty. he had a cold hitch in his shot in the vid

Yes, he can shoot. Mike has extended range out to the arc. He still needs to refine it.

He’s hands down the best junior and I think the best player in the nation. The only kid who has a more complete game was his teammate Kyrie Irving. Wait till you see him in Durham. Superstar.

One thing that makes Mike stand out from anyone else is his speed with the ball. He’s 6’7 running around the way he is. Every time I saw him play no one could keep up, and its a rarity to see a guy at that size move like that and play that hard.

    NOVA babay!

  • snasty10

i thought he hurt himself, had knee surgery or something

  • Arek

He is just a hard working player who doesn’t make many mistakes on the court. He is useful and can take over as far as scoring at any time.

  • Arek

snasty.. he did hurt his knee, but 2 weeks later he was playing already

  • snasty10

oh i thought it was that microfracture surgery or something that took a long time to heal, my mistake

I don’t consider myself a “hater”, but that was really weaksauce. There was nothing there on that ‘highlight’ reel that a player in France, Spain or Australia couldn’t do at age 17.
Nothing very spectacular there at all, just solid post moves, dunks a few blocks.
I guess the word “underwhelming” sums up that 1.41 of video pretty well.

Whatever happened to that 5-year-old prodigy from a while back? The one with the superhuman lungs, cornrows, and dad who evidently pushes him every day.

  • TyMo

Yeah the kid who could run a mile in under 6 minutes. He could probably take Michael Gilchrist.

  • JoeMaMa

Anton, the kid couldn’t take it anymore. He killed his dad, and he’s still running from the cops. While dribbling two balls between his legs.

  • swerve

    JJ Hickson

  • Bazic

Couldn’t agree more with Hursty. Nothing spectacular at all, in this video at least.

I meant the 11-year old kid on youtube. He’s gotta be a senior by now or something.
There was some other 9 year old cocky kid who I wanted to punch in the face.

  • BKidd

I kinda agree with hursty but the difference is Mike isn’t 17 yet…so you tell me who may be better. Test will come this summer when the national team goes to Germany to play those 17 yo”s from Spain and what not. PEACE.
