  When LeBron lost prematurely to the Celtics this year, what did he do? Go onstage.

  Stop hating on Drake. rich got the whole thing right. Drake isn’t Nas, or Em, or any other ridiculous rapper lyrically that you can think of, he’s still one of the best that we have out right now who isn’t jacked up on auto-tune and talking about money and women. Drake does a little bit of the latter, but he couples it with songs with feeling in them. And he’s a great singer, and it isn’t enhanced. The dude is incredibly versatile, and a fine emcee. Catchy songs as well, he also isn’t afraid to take risks. Drake is great, guys. This is a new generation of hip-hop, and we’re in an age where people have short attention spans and need a hook. Drizzy toes the line very effectively.

  @Moose – I hear you, but come on now, if Drake or any other of these wack rappers out nowadays had dropped their albums in the 80′s or 90′s they would’ve been laughed out of hip-hop. I know, it’s 2010, and rap has gotten soft as pudding and rappers are now judged based on their “singing ability” or how catchy a hook is. I just think it’s a sad state for rap music to be in. Oh well, don’t mind me, I guess. I’m just a grouchy old hip-hop head (at 26 years old!!) pining for the days of Illmatic, Only Built for Cuban Linx and Ready to Die.

  I know what you mean, Enigmatic. I’m really young (almost 15), but I love hip hop–and damn right I own OB4CL, Illmatic and Ready to Die, haha. I listen to all the classics, all great hip hop of the 90′s and late 80′s, early 2000′s. The great thing about music is that it can survive the times and can be heard by anyone at any time. But, I’m sad to say, among my peers who say they like hip hop they basically just mean Biggie and sometimes 2Pac, and now hip hop is going in a new direction, and Drake is leading it. We can still love 90′s hip hop and what it was, but it’s evolving, as that was inevitable. And, snasty10, you have it right. Cudi, Wale, Posner, Charles Hamilton, Asher Roth (seriously), Clipse, Tanya Morgan….there is still good slightly mainstream hip hop out there. And hey, at least we still got Mos, Kweli, Lupe….it isn’t dead. Drake’s just a new part of the genre, and we have to accept it. Again, personally, I think he’s sick (check out “Still Fly”, “Say What’s Real”, “Barry Bonds Freestyle”). Hip hop heads still have it, it’s just changing. Remember, the harmless Sugarhill Gang turned into N.W.A. It’s always changing.
