Video: LeBron Joins Drake On Stage

While Kobe and the Lakers were playing the Phoenix Suns on Thursday night in an intense Game 5, LeBron James, the reigining regular season MVP, was kicking it on stage with Drake. To sum it up: Kobe was playing in the Western Conference Finals; Lebron was playing hype man for Drake.

Drake is garbage. I know dudes at my local barber shop that would run lyrical circles around dude.

  • Jake

    First.Drake is overrated,just like Lebron’s “greatness”.

  • http://www.twitter.com/thisick Thiago

LEBRON – Overrated “King”. Just a boy.

Lebron “What am I doing” What am I doing”

  • Jon W.

What the hell is LeBron doing up there? This is the difference between Kobe Bryant and LeBron James. When Kobe lost to the Lakers what did he do? Work his ass off and become a better player.
When LeBron lost prematurely to the Celtics this year, what did he do? Go onstage.
The great ones prove their greatness in the way they carry themselves and by example. LeBron isn’t there yet.

  • http://www.michaelcho.com M Cho

Back in the day, being a soda-pop rapper was something to be ashamed of.

  • bobby

this is why no one will take lebron serious. hes all about himself. dude is just as corny as shaq making a freestyle rap while kobe’s out winning.

  • http://slamonline.com Ben Osborne

You guys realize Kobe took the time to RECORD hip-hop songs, right?

  • http://www.clutchfans.net Nick

Wow, drake is awful live. I guess he’s awful in the studio too, but he’s extra awful live. Maybe he needs some sprite?

  • slamfan4life

Brons last “performance” im CLE b4 he goes to Chi…

  • Jon W.

he did record, but he’s matured since then. never said lebron can’t do that too.

  • Harlem_World

The Lebron hate is funny to me…Now people jumping on Kobe’s jock? Efff outta here with that bullship…There’s not a team in the league that wouldn’t trade their top 2 players for Lebron. Lakers included. We’ll see what everyone is saying once dude gets his chips (and they are coming, it’s just a matter of time).

  • Jon W.

i’m not saying lebron can’t get to kobe. as far as kobe, i hate his ego, so i’m not overly crazy bout that. but kobe’s skills are still better.

  • Jon W.

I’m sure LeBron will get his championships, but he just hasn’t gotten them yet has he?

  • The Philosopher

  • kobesBESTfriend

Kobe would only go on stage with Ma$e

  • http://www.bulls.com Enigmatic

LeBron: “Yo Drake, how’s my hype-man skills?”
Drake (in whiny, Sprite commerical tone): “I’m just not feeling it!”

  • T-Money

some people are very simple-minded. if you take an evening to catch a show it must mean that you didn’t work on your game during that day, right? right? gtfoh.

  • Harlem_World

Co-sign T-money. John W – do you know how old Jordan was when he got his first?

  • Gumdrop

Lebron was on an episode of Degrassi????

  • Gumdrop

I’m not sure if Americans will get that one.

  • ripslam

They’re both garbage. I mean, “Over” is the worst excuse for a hip-hop song I have ever heard.

  • JR

    Drake’s pretty big.

  • rich

because drake is within 5 feet of lebron he gets haterade? yes there are better lyricists at on any street corner, but can they sing like him too? are they all as versitile? dont say he cant rap because he does everything while keeping his lyrics relatively clean.

  • http://stapledesign.com Spaceship Jay

    Lol @ Ben Osborne

  • sam

Lebron dont quit your day job!

  • http://www.twiter.com/dfrance21 dfrance21

So because his team lost “prematurely” he can’t enjoy himself during the offseason? Does anyone on here knows how he’s been spending his time outside of this 2 minute clip? A lot of yall need to hop off the soapbox for a second. With that being said… Kobe’s still better.

  • kobesBESTfriend

such fitting company…2 of the most overated performers in their fields…pure garbage!!!

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

So, we’ve all decided to forget when Kobe was racing motorcycles and making horrible rap albums.
    Glad I got the memo.

As long as Lebron never puts out an song called “Thug Poet” he still gets the edge on the musical side.

  • http://slamonline.com JL

drake sucks.. his rhymes are weak.. even the few words he spit out after he drank the sprite in the commercial sucked.

  • http://www.clutchfans.com/ Blue

    Lebron traveled…again…

  • http://www.facebook.com 9Steele9

    LeBron = Drake
    Kobe = Jay-z

Steve Nash would never do this.

  • Robb

Drake sucks, LBJ sucks. Perfect match.

  • roman

Only stage Kobe’s going on is to accept that trophy. Lebron get serious about your craft.

  • http://hibachi20.blogspot.com/ Moose

Stop hating on Drake. rich got the whole thing right. Drake isn’t Nas, or Em, or any other ridiculous rapper lyrically that you can think of, he’s still one of the best that we have out right now who isn’t jacked up on auto-tune and talking about money and women. Drake does a little bit of the latter, but he couples it with songs with feeling in them. And he’s a great singer, and it isn’t enhanced. The dude is incredibly versatile, and a fine emcee. Catchy songs as well, he also isn’t afraid to take risks. Drake is great, guys. This is a new generation of hip-hop, and we’re in an age where people have short attention spans and need a hook. Drizzy toes the line very effectively.

  • http://hibachi20.blogspot.com/ Moose

But it did surprise me that the people there started chanting “MVP”. How about “choker” or something like that?

  • chingy

    Cosign T-money and rich

  • http://www.bulls.com Enigmatic

@Moose – I hear you, but come on now, if Drake or any other of these wack rappers out nowadays had dropped their albums in the 80′s or 90′s they would’ve been laughed out of hip-hop. I know, it’s 2010, and rap has gotten soft as pudding and rappers are now judged based on their “singing ability” or how catchy a hook is. I just think it’s a sad state for rap music to be in. Oh well, don’t mind me, I guess. I’m just a grouchy old hip-hop head (at 26 years old!!) pining for the days of Illmatic, Only Built for Cuban Linx and Ready to Die.

  • http://www.okaymentary.com the_capital_t

As a hype man, LeBron is more Flavor Flav than he is Spliff Star. But not, like PE Flav. More like Flavor of Love Flav.

LeBron needs to spend his off-season developing better chemistry with his lead MC. If he did that, the kid could be an all-time great. If he works really hard, LeBron could be the next Jerome Benton.

  • http://www.hibachi20.blogspot.com Hursty

So, LeBron isn’t allowed to spend a few hours in the off-season NOT playing basketball? Get outta here.
    You guys have no idea.

  • kriz

there are plenty of hip hop in 2010 that has either an old school feel or nasty lyrics. onebelo and binary star is who im on right now. brother ali, jay electronica, atop, slaughterhouse are all dope. just dig deep

  • WasAt

    drake aint that bad

  • http://www.bulls.com Enigmatic

@kriz- Oh, no doubt. Underground rappers are still doing their thing and always will. Binary Star are dope, I also listen to Kidz in the Hall, Theory Hazit, and Little Brother among others. I was mainly going on about mainstream rap nowadays.

  • http://www.bulls.com Enigmatic

And I also agree that just cause LeBron decided to attend a concert, that doesn’t mean his committment should be questioned. Considering how many commercials he shot, how much gold he played and how much money Money gambled on, I’m pretty sure even MJ didn’t live in the gym 24/7

  • http://www.bulls.com Enigmatic

    *how much golf he played

  • PlanetAsia14

LeBron loves to win… Yet, he’s not in the Finals… Just saying… LA in 7, Kobe’s going to get his cold blooded revenge!

  • http://thetroyblog.com Teddy-the-Bear

Drake sucks @ss. And to the commenter above who said Kobe = Jay-Z, know that Jay-Z sucks too.

  • http://joeloholic.wordpress.com Joel O’s

Tortured, in-denial Raptors fan: “Does this mean he’s coming to Toronto??”

  • snasty10

Some mainstream rap is horrible these days, with guys like plies, ace hood, and gucci just to name a few. I actually would agree with moose, i think drake is more then an MC he’s an artist who could collaborate with anybody. Dont get me wrong i still like my old school hip hop, but i like the new artist such as jay electronica, cudi, wale, childish gambino, and my man mike posner.

  • The Philosopher

Nas is the greatest rapper of all times.

  • http://www.boogiewilliams.com Boing Dynasty

He sucks. No the other guy sucks. No you suck. No YOU suck. Your all retards.

  • The Philosopher

And Drake is SERIOUS on mixtapes.

  • http://hibachi20.blogspot.com/ Moose

I know what you mean, Enigmatic. I’m really young (almost 15), but I love hip hop–and damn right I own OB4CL, Illmatic and Ready to Die, haha. I listen to all the classics, all great hip hop of the 90′s and late 80′s, early 2000′s. The great thing about music is that it can survive the times and can be heard by anyone at any time. But, I’m sad to say, among my peers who say they like hip hop they basically just mean Biggie and sometimes 2Pac, and now hip hop is going in a new direction, and Drake is leading it. We can still love 90′s hip hop and what it was, but it’s evolving, as that was inevitable. And, snasty10, you have it right. Cudi, Wale, Posner, Charles Hamilton, Asher Roth (seriously), Clipse, Tanya Morgan….there is still good slightly mainstream hip hop out there. And hey, at least we still got Mos, Kweli, Lupe….it isn’t dead. Drake’s just a new part of the genre, and we have to accept it. Again, personally, I think he’s sick (check out “Still Fly”, “Say What’s Real”, “Barry Bonds Freestyle”). Hip hop heads still have it, it’s just changing. Remember, the harmless Sugarhill Gang turned into N.W.A. It’s always changing.

  • The Philosopher

The list of the 5 greatest rappers ever: Nas, Biggie, LL Cool J, Rakim, Eminem. Just my opinion.

  • http://hibachi20.blogspot.com/ Moose

Nas, Biggie, Eminem, JayHova, tie between Rakim, KRS-One and Chuck D. Just my opinion. Good list The Philosopher. Del Tha Funkee Homosapien isn’t up there with them, but he’s one of my favorites and I want to give him some cred here, haha.

  • http://hibachi20.blogspot.com/ Moose

But there’s so much great past hip hop out there it’s hard to make a top five like that.

  • The Philosopher

True indeed, Moose. I was having a hard time with KRS ONE and Rakim.

  • http://www.stuffwhitepeoplelike.com Tarzan Cooper

No rapper present, past, or future can touch K-RINO!. Good mainstream rap died in the late 90s when cash money and no limit dominated. Not so much their fault as everyone else after that rapped about nothing but money cars hoes, etc. Go get some K-RINO. Latest album is called SOLITARY CONFINEMENT. He is light years ahead of everyone else.

  • http://www.realcavsfans.com Anton

A single bar off an Eminem freestyle > Drake’s existance

  • The Philosopher

Anton, you have a valid statement on that, but Drake was nice on mixtapes.

  • The Philosopher

Snoop Dogg is my favorite MC, though. That dude is just so cool.

At least he can work on his dance moves now and get some new shakes from FAKE!!!

  • cermakcrazy

immortal technique, jedi mind tricks, nas, and viro the virus just to name a couple people who talk about something thats important not how much ice they can put on there chain

  • sample

    drake sucks! ’nuff said

  • http://thephotoriot.com davidR

mainstream drake isn’t anything worthy, but so far gone drake is a different story

  • http://www.bulls.com Enigmatic

Moose, good on you for knowing rap’s history and much props for your well-articulated argument at such a young age! The kids just might be ok after all (I’ll check out the tracks you told me about)

  • http://www.realcavsfans.com Anton

Look, b!tches are stupid. They’ll listen to anything with a good beat so quite frankly their musical opinion doesn’t count. Chicks can go from liking Kesha to some random auto-tune f*&&ot on any given day.
But as a man, Drake should have no appeal whatsoever. Unless you wear fishnets and pumps and blast his songs with your “girlfriends” on weekends before the gay bar, you shouldn’t be liking it one bit. Especially if you know true rap music. Seriously, how can any self-respecting rap fan blast this in his car and legitimately enjoy it? And then they wonder why hip hop is on life support, the industry would be a lot better off if he died in a fire of his own fail tomorrow.
Oh, and LeBron is the Drake album of NBA players – all hype and no delivery.

  • http://Www.slamonline.com Negetivekreep

Tarzan: nobody touches DOOM lyrically, he’s in his own universe. Moose useem like a very well thought out young man, so don’t take it personal when I tell u In a few yrs You’ll have outgrown Drake. You wanna know about the real? • http://thetroyblog.com Teddy-the-Bear

Anton (or his imposter) is a misogynistic idiot, who obviously doesn’t know sh!t about hip-hop. Yes, Drake sucks, and so does Boing Dynasty, but homophobia and woman-bashing is ignorant bullsh!t that goes on in the hip pop you listen to. Oh, and the stupid @ss skinny jeans, man-bag techno rappers? They’re men.
    Thanks for shutting up now.

kreep, k-rino makes doom go home and cry, not even close. just go listen to some k-rino, open thought surgery, loaded, perpetual ascension, forensics, if words could kill, when its time, worst rapper alive, just to name a few. ive heard alot of doom, k wrecks him. you named some good rap acts, very ny heavy tho. theres not alot of new stuff i like. rap will never be what it was in the 90s, thats when it peaked. i think record companies, and weak-minded, gullible “rappers” the the main culprits.

This comments section is hilarious. Co-sign M Cho @3.02pm, agree 100% my man. And Boing @8.04pm, laughed out loud at that one. So apologies in advance, but, Drake really does suck. Cringe-worthy nonsense.

  • christos

drake is in the top 2 current rappers, 2nd to only kanye.

    and to that guy before,

    drake = kevin durant
    kobe = tupac without dying
    lebron = biggie, dying optional

  • http://hoopistani.blogspot.com Hoopistani

you know the last line of the video when LeBron and Drake say “It’s over… It’s over…” – they should’ve been playing that as LeBron walked into the locker room after losing Game 6 to the Celtics.

  • http://hibachi20.blogspot.com/ Moose

@Enigmatic: Thanks, man. I love music, and I know that there’s some great sh!t out there, so I have to educate myself.

@Negativekreep: I’m there already, man. I don’t have any Shades of Brooklyn our MF Grimm, but….I think I have at least one album by all of those dudes. Don’t worry, I know that hip hop was better before I was born than it is now.

Wow there are a lot of Drake and Lebron haters on here!2 me rap today has no meaning, everything is about sex, drugs, or how hard u are and that is so corny.I wish i was born in the time where rap had meaning and true facts in it.No dis 2 Drake though he is alright.BTW much love 4 Rakim and Eric B. they are true rap pioneers.

  • http://slamonline.com MattiKiD

True ish bro! The stuff that I hear from artists today, even popstars (Sean Kingston, IYAZ, etc.), just goes to show that these artists killed Hip-Hop. Verily insulted when I saw on Twitter, Soulja Boy had over 2 million followers! The stupidity in this world! Shame. And I’m a young dude. 90′s Baby. One person, who is very inspired by who was out in ’96 and earlier in that decade. Now shit ain’t the same. And everybody wants to diss Skinny Jeans when Run DMC wore em and it was all cool. there’s a movement of today, that’s very indie. We bringin’ shit back RETRO style .Cause what’s of this day & age is wack as hell. One day, when i get older, ima exterminate the bull that in on the radio nowadays. Someday….

  • http://slamonline.com .the chosen one

these rappers out there just talk about sex, drugs women’s body parts, rappers needs 2 stop, like if eazy e waz stil alive or 2-pac,and biggy. But we still have rappers like nas. i miss the game, wel i got more 2 say but, please don’t get me started. Man f**k rap now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Josh

Harlem, would you honestly trade Kobe and Pau for Lebron? That would be ridiculous. There probably aren’t actually too many teams that would trade away their top two players, atleast not teams that go deep in the playoffs every year. Especially now that they see Lebron isn’t a guy who can carry a team.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Pardeep

two devil worshipers, make me sick. This is the difference between Kobe and LeBron. After getting humiliated in the 2008 NBA finals Bryant was working out everyday, this guys on stage rapping. Its all about the fame for Bron. LeFame, LeMoney, LeBuisness.
