Video: More Than a Game

Just in case you couldn’t quite explain why NBA Basketball is more than a game…

NBA Basketball isn’t just about winning games. It’s not only about multi-million dollar contracts. And it’s not about incredible fame. It’s about emotion. Inspiration. Action. Purpose. It’s about meaning. We sense this in small doses — breathe it in second-hand — when watching the game.

Gotrare took the care to skim off the excess, and produce a one-of-a-kind concentrate of the soul of the game.

Dude collected interviews from players, selecting the important words and dressing them over incredible action from the ’09-10 season and Playoffs. It’s a commentary on basketball you’ve known deep down, but haven’t been able to exactly put a finger on. Words cannot accurately describe the epic mix, so we hope you take five minutes to watch it this weekend.

In the words of another world-class mixmaker, Venom, Gotrare’s mix will live for ages.

    Chills. Crazy good.

Awesome, lol but Lebron’s “To know that I can go out there and dominate the stats”. Now that is 100 percent true. Everyone talks about motivation, and determination, and trying to be your best and everyone is special. But Lebron can dominate the stats lol. Maybe it’s just me that finds it funny.

@James the Balla: Yes, it’s true… The King and his calvary can do whatever they want.

On a more serious note, that video nearly brought a tear to my eye. This Game of basketball is the greatest game ever. And again, SLAM is the greatest… of All Times.

Kobe more than anyone in that video has experienced the full range of emotions the NBA can provide. He reached the top, then fell all the way down to being a lottery team, and then he made it all the way back to the top. He also almost literally had basketball taken away from him for a very long time in 2004. I fully believe he sincerely loves the game the way no other player in that video can possibly imagine. I give Paul Pierce credit too for sticking with the same team and finally winning in his 10th year as well as almost losing his life in that stabbing incident.

I won’t get tired of watching this. Probably seen it eight times and each time feels like the first.

I agree with the assessment on kobe but he didn’t have the game taken away from him he gave the game away because of a moral mistake. I love kobe’s game but u just can’t cheat on ur wife. Even if she doesn’t finds out u never get away with it.

Kobe has experienced the lows and the highs but five rings is the ultimate high. BOOK IT!!!

wow, I love basketball Not to put a downer on things, but has all of the hype of this summers free agent class made this season a little underwhelming?

@The Philosopher hahahaha is that why they got eliminated in the second round of the playoffs by the fourth seed? good joke.

  • underdog Posted: Jun.27 at 4:18 am
@James the Balla: You realize that these quotations have been taken out of context, right? Basically you don’t know what the original question was (interviews!). Yeah, it’s could be tricky listening these cut fragments after each other.

i love how everyone talks about mental things or how much this means to them etc, and lebron talks about stats and being an mvp

  • Anton Posted: Jun.27 at 8:46 am
The Seed doesn’t know the meaning of “book it”

  • The Philosopher Posted: Jun.27 at 8:50 am
    @Black Mamba: LONG… LIVE… THE KING!

  • Cool Dude Posted: Jun.28 at 4:50 am
It is a really well made, chilling video. Still, the segment on Lebron talking about being the mvp of his team and putting up stats made me lol. I guess this video has it all, including comedy.

When Ron said :“I’m going to continue playing hard and out of control, like a wild animal that needs to be caged in. I’ll let the referees handle it.” Ron “The BEAST”!!!! glad that he is a “LAKER” :)
