Video: Paul Pierce’s Amazing Catch & Pass to Rondo

In the waning moments of Game 5, Kevin Garnett threw a terrible, panicky pass to Paul Pierce. Thankfully for KG and the C’s, Pierce was able to show off his receiver and quarterback skills and made the play of the night:

That was just a great sequence. Play of the game though was Tony Allens block.

In a real basketball game, Pierce walks.

    @DDB: oh god..

What has happened to slam? Terrible pass? Can you point out to me who else exactly is open in that sequence of play?

play of the game was the kobe alley-oop

2nd what Ken said. There were 5 – 10 plays of the game. TA has been a very nice surprise this playoffs. Did any Celtic player have a bad game? It seemed like one of those games where every C’s player had at least one or two really important plays. This starting 5 always seems to take a while to get warmed up in a playoff series.

Why is everyone a referee on Slam? Every highlight video posted has someone calling travel. just appreciate the play.

@sean, no one was open, but thats what time outs are for. Especially at a critical point of the game like that, its better to burn a timeout then to toss up a hail mary pass.

Tony Allen’s block was monster. Loved this sequence though.

They cut it off at the end of this clip, but on the replay at the end someone grabs Rondo’s ass and pats it like 5 times. x_x

play of the game was Kobe’s alley oop? it was a good play, sure, and the result of good movement without the ball by Kobe and a good pass (not sure who from), but I don’t even think that was Kobe’s best shot this game.

@ DDB: In a real playoff series, the Lakers are down 3-2

I thought Pierce might’ve stepped out of bounds on that play, but no replay shows clearly where his foot is.

I’ll take ANY of Kobe’s points that game over this,it’s a good play, but Kobe’s shots in the 2nd half were just unbelievable. Anybody else getting sick of the word “Amazing”?

  • maribry2004

@Earl… I think that the Lakers are both sick and tired of the word “amazing” and that’s why they’re refusing to play that way!

Little surprised someone didn’t call a time out, but I’ll live with a dangerous-yet-successful sequence once in awhile. Still should have called a time out though.

I like Rasheed’s little Arvydas Sabonis pass to the ref after Rondo scores.

Why bring up travelling? Happens regularly every game. Common practice. Great play!

  • logues

rondo makes incredibly difficult shots every game in the paint over way bigger defenders. rondo haters are dumb. and tony allens block was sick, honestly i think thats the difference between the celts and the lakers. would you have seen anyone on the lakers maybe besides kobe even attempt to recover that much to try and make that play? it just seems like the celts want it so much more and play harder and with so much more passion. thats why i think they will win it all just like ive said all year

    Rondo’s tip-in over Lamar: nastiness.

I still don’t understand how in a 2-2 series, the the team with home court advantage gets game 5 on the road. Is it really home court advantage if Finals series rarely go 7 games?

  • rikson

    No walk… learn your game!

  • rich

its done this way cuz its ezier to cover for the media and so that they can had a week of THE FINALS in a given city
