We’ve recently seen DeMar and Deuce and Dwayne display their boosties, but The Best High School Dunker in the past five years might go to 6-2 Brandon “Snap” Peters from the legendary Yates HS:

    Right there with you on the last 5 years comment. I’ve only seen him once in person, but he pulls stuff like that off all the time in games. Heading to Western Kentucky so in an up and down conference like the Sun Belt, this could be an ongoing show for the next few years…

    I watched this dude play all season long covering Yates for the Houston Chronicle. Dude is a BEAST for real! For him to only be 6’1, I’ve seen him so some amazing dunks.

    The kid has an all-around game. His jumper is straight; needs work, but it’s serviceable. He plays GREAT defense as well, and is a tremendous rebounder. He’s the real deal.

    Rewatching it again…can we say a better Helicopter? I have his Oak Hill highlight tape on VHS. Pretty sick, but nothing like this.

    What’s crazy is the amount of games/exhibitions it took him to put this together. 1 charity game, a dunk contest at that charity game, 2 games (1 play at a state chip game, the other game), an exhibition at one of those games, and an All-star game. That’s it.

    Dude is freaking bananas.

    @Rodger Bohn – don’t let that highlight tape fool you, Helicopter was the MAN. Plus, not every game was video taped even then, much less charity events. Never saw John go around his back, but he could do the rest of these dunks 1st thing in the morning. I’ve seen him up way higher than this cat. Don’t get me wrong Brandon can fly, but he can’t hover, like a helicopter. John had this dude by 6 inches easily at the same age

    @ol- I’m got some RIDIC rare stuff of Helicopter. Back when he was simply known as John Humphrey. The quality is terrible, but if you’re familiar with Oak Hill, you know about the highlight tapes that they give their guys at the end of the season. Perhaps I’m not giving him just due because the quality of my tape is nowhere near this.

    Damn! Dude can fly! Six seconds in, I don’t care if he made the dunk or missed it. That’s hops right there. Hopefully he gets his all around game continued so we can see him running the show in the NBA.
