For Old Time’s Sake: ’97 Bulls – NoBetterIntroThanThis

Don’t hate. I don’t care if you hate MJ, the Bulls, the city of Chicago…it doesn’t matter. If you have ever played ball and had the privilege of being announced with intro music, you know how money this tune was. Gives me chills every time I listen to it. Something about listening to hip hop, be it DMX, Jigga, even Naughty By Nature or ill intro music like this that just get’s you so amped. Yeah, this wasn’t hip hop, but it was fire.

Still gives me chills. My favorite post in the ‘For Old Time’s Sake’ section so far. (watched the intro, still fresh in my mind, now time for the second clip)

    Finally……fantastic. The Greatest Ever.

  • bigdoggchad

Could watch that all day long.

  • newzealanderinlondon

Dont hate – do not hate – Michael Jordan cannot be topped regardless if you were around in the 80′s or 90′s.

  • Scottie Pimpin

i never seen the running bulls animation intro thing. pretty cool.

  • Scottie Pimpin

aslo watching the 97 bulls was like watching a near perfect basketball game. they were that good.

  • logues

Jesus Christ. NOW that was a mix. Daytona 500 with one of the greatest trios of all time. What a way to start the day!

  • nowyouknow

gotta love the dennis rodman part..

  • http://www.springbored.net letsmotor

I love that one-handed shot fake that Michael used to do all the time @0:55. Beautiful. @james: absolutely, he did.

  • Ronald

We need a FOLTS: Rodman! Why aren’t there more players like him! That guy is insane fun to watch!

  • erich

DSF Live – When Basketball was on free tv in germany.
I loved the Bulls. They were a real squad.
The role players were great(Toni, Ron, Steve, Luuuuuuc, …)

  • Drolfe

No Luc Longely highlight section. Ridiculous.

  • Ronald

Oh, SLAM. Please give credit for people like Yinka Dare who obviously spent a lot of time putting that Mix together. Don’t just link it, at least give him a shout-out. That guy is the best mix maker on Youtube by a mile.

  • http://www.waterwalkinwear.com WaterWalkinWarrior

The chills were still there for me too. lol I’ll never forget being there live at the old Chicago Stadium. WoW!

  • newzealanderinlondon

Luc Longley potentially had the best basketball career ever when measuring the amount of effort required to gain a phat as fluck goal – aka multiple NBA championships.

  • JTaylor21

THERE IS NO G.O.A.T, so kill that noise.

  • http://www.bulls.com Enigmatic

I miss Jordan. I miss Pippen. I miss Rodman. I miss Jackson. I miss Kukoc, Longley, Kerr, Harper and ‘em too. But just as much, I miss Ray Clay.

  • http://slamonline.com Spaceship Jay

Hahahahaha! Damn JTaylor21, you sound like you pop balloons of children.

  • http://jayemmbee.blogspot.com/ ClutchPerformer

  • larrylegend

LOL, capped from DSF (Deutsches Sport Fernsehen/German Sports TV). hope Buschi was commentating. where’s Darksaber when u need him…?

  • slamfan4life

  • eyal

i want me some bill wennington!

  • http://Yahoo Shanoooooo

Why wasn’t Rodman starting again. Can anyone remind me ?

  • Overtime

Did need some of Pippens better dunks…but still, niiiiicee

  • http://www.shawnkemp.com JACO

Yep rite best intro made you wanna feel like jordan.

  • http://slamonline.com/ Ryne Nelson

Rodman needed to be in that starting lineup… that said, this starting lineup is (and will forever be) the best in the League.

  • http://slamonline.com Spaceship Jay

Yikes. That was a tough @$$ team.

  • http://slamonline.com Spaceship Jay

So who would win a 3 on 3, NBA refs refereeing the game… The Bulls legendary 3, or this new Destiny’s Child in Miami?

  • M5

    @Spaceship Jay.
Hands down the Bulls trio. The were superior offensively and defensively.

  • http://www.michaelcho.com M Cho

Never get tired of seeing MJ highlights — he was nice like that. But I loved seeing the Rodman clips too — dude was insane on the court.

  • http://www.shawnkemp.com brotherwithwisdom

If you ever wanted to feel like MJa man it gets no better then this.

  • Robb

JTaylor sure loves to be hated. There’s always someone like that, and I think it’s a good thing, it’s fun when someone questions the unquestionable.

  • OneStep

The best pre-game intro of all-time forever. It will never be bettered or equalled. It makes the hairs on the back of the neck stand up. It must have been incredibly intimidating for opposing teams. Awesome.

  • Overtime

Do you have any idea what Rodman would do to Bosh?!

  • ALEX80

    I mean……look @ that…….you can’t find that on today’s league….oh well!,…except for LeBron’s decision, that was so exciting……………………………………NOOOT!!!!

  • http://idunkonthem.blogspot.com/ albie1kenobi

there’s no better rebounder who’s better at keeping the ball alive by tipping the ball to himself or a teammate than rodman. hate him for his tactics and attitude, but his basketball IQ is undeniable. and don’t forget he used to play effectively against an in-the-prime shaq one-on-one more than a handful of times. dude is a beast.

  • http://www.twitter.com/JoshElam JE

No NBA Champion since them could have beat that team. Awesome.

  • WangChung

Co-sign Overtime. Love the Rodman clips. Reminds me of the times I used to try to play like him as a grade-schooler. For some reason, youth league coaches could never see the value in diving out of bounds to keep a play alive.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Eboy

    JE is smart.

That’s so cool. When Michael Jordan comes out he looks like he’s just come out of a game already all sweaty.

  • http://www.facebook.com 9Steele9

that mix is sick, but stop with the over-editing. all that chicka chika business ruins the highlights for me

  • Anthony
  • http://www.twitter.com/TheDiesel Anton

The look on Rodman’s face after a lay-up or dunk was just pure joy.

  • http://www.slamonline.com J

best intro of all time. i miss that laser bulls on center court.

  • eZ

Awesome. Best team ever. Rodman was so funny and at the same time so good..
And this trio would be more than a match for the miami trio, so put to rest the ‘easy way out’ comments for Lebron. No matter how it came to be, it has been done before and jordan build his legacy further upon it.

  • Da Hood

    Ummmmmmmmmmm……Kobe is better than who??????????????

  • michael

rodman – what a fricken legend. Pippen – my god a top 10 player at his peak. Jordan no comment needed. And you can say whatever you want about Longley, but he will forever be known as the centre in the greatest single season team ever and a three time NBA champion playing with MJ.

  • Blackphantom

    @JTaylor21 really??

  • hammer

Hands down best intro all time. When bulls home games were televised I ALWAYS just had 2 watch the intro. Just ill! No team from any league or sport has had a better intro. Classic. AAAAANNND NOOOOW!….

  • hammer

Oh poor bosh. He would b able 2 handle the worm. Just on pure tactics and mind games alone bosh would need a shrink. Remember what rodman would do 2 zo anybody? Most certainly would not handle rodmans defense and mos def absolutely positively couldn’t b able 2 keep him off the glass! Pip would just absolutely harass lbj. And mj on wade? Pleez!. DEFENSE baby! NOT hype!
