For Old Time’s Sake

I will NEVER get tired of seeing this posterization. Last I heard, Fredrick Weis was mopping floors at the Greenwich Boys & Girls Club…. Gotta love the EuroSport announcers.

The good ol’ days when Vince didn’t think it was wrong to dunk

  • http://SLAMonline.com GotHandles?

I want European Soccer announcers to do play-by-play in the NBA….GOAAAAAAAAALLLL GOAL GOAL GOOOOOOOALLLL.

  • kh

I always wondered where the rest of the team was? Only KG got hype, WTF?!? Vin Din made a funny face but damn that dunk was run off the bench material

  • http://www.clownpenis.com Tarzan Cooper

Got handles, its one mexican guy who does that, maybe hes spanish. Cant think of his name……

  • Overtime

Im in favour of SLAM randomly posting more classic dunks

Guy dupui vs vince carter toronto era dunk contest, the end all to all dunk contests in the world.

  • Robb

Great dunk, but VC is a quitter.

  • TMT

    It’s gotta be the hair…

  • Stillballin

I still remember the first time seeing this dunk..I jumped off my bed.. I had to see it twice if it was real.. Classic!!

  • Stillballin

French media dubbed the slam “le dunk de la mort”: “the dunk of death.”

  • JTaylor21

It’s funny how regular people are quick to call athletes quitters not
knowing all the hard work that is needed to even make it let alone play at
a high leve for a long time. Talking to u robb and all those who called
vc, bron and others quitters. ur probably slumped in ur lazyboy, eating
sour chips and watching tv. sucker, maybe u should quit on life.

  • The Fresh Prince of Nsam

Waoh, I remember washing this dunk live on TV, I couldn’t believe it. The funny thing about the comments is that they were (obviously) cheering 4 the French team, commenting the missed fast break 4 the french team, but they just got overhyped by the dunk. Have u noticed how Fred Weis looks dump, lost after he got dunked on, he couldn’t believe what was happening 2 him. Classic. Greatest in game dunk of all time.

  • The Fresh Prince of Nsam

@ JTaylor21: agree with u 10000000%. So easy 2 put the failures and frustrations of 1s life on bashing professional athletes. Maybe that’s the only excitement of their lives.

  • C-Lo_The_Great

WAIT!!!!!!! theres more to life than complaining on every little thing athletes do?!?!?!? you guys must be insane.

  • http://www.twitter.com/notebooknick NotebookNick

Vince Carter looks weird with hair.

  • Sporting-Lisbon-Blazers

Le dunk se la mort- LoL at these french annoucers clowning their own guy, I would´ve too…@JTaylor and Fresh Prince: VC I dont know cause I dont follow NBA this closely too his Raptors days, but Bron did quit on the Cavs in games 2 and 5 vs Boston so, its a fact, not up tp your dumb arguments.

  • Jesse

    Vin Banker looks drunk

  • http://double-technical.blogspot.com Zee!

  • http://thetroyblog.com Teddy-the-Bear

Classic… The 2000 US Olympic Team was one of the best ever, and certainly the most fun to watch (minus the original Dream Team). Not sure why people frown on their Gold Medal achievement?

  • logues

co-sign Overtime. I will never get tired of seeing old vc dunks

  • http://www.triplejunearthed.com/dacre Dacre

I am pleased to say boys that I was in that building.
This was the joy of Australia having the olympic games in 2000.
I saw Canada play and got photos of Steve Nash, my boy!!!
I saw the US team take on NZ (which was nice because at that
time Vince had a team mate playing for NZ and
they did the HARKA after the game but should have done it prior,
Vin Baker and Allan Houston looked scared as heck). I saw France,
Italy, Germany ,Angola and RUSSIA – WHO at the time had one of my
favourite players of all time; SERGEI BAZARAVICH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BTW; This dunk was the greatest of all time; It was during COMPETITIVE
PLAY at the highest level, you may see street dunkers jump over guys
in the par but they are ALWAYS HUNCHING OVER… no THIS is THE dunk
    that sets the standard.

  • the truth

It’s hilarious to hear some punk call vince a quitter. Like you know everything that goes on with his life and how his knees feel. Stop hatin bro. dude got old. I’m sure u could straight ball in ur day tho right? lol

  • http://www.clownpenis.com Tarzan Cooper

    Jesse wins

  • http://Slamonline.com Rubelube

Jesse that’s probably because he was drunk

  • Robb

@JTaylor21 not at all my man, I’m not a professional athlete, but I work hard, I’m great at what I do and I NEVER quit. If I was a pro I’d do the same. Yes, they are quitters, if you have a hard time facing the truth I’m sorry for you. And when you talk about eating chips, being lazy and watching TV it’s probably because you have someone close to you doing that all the time, probably your own friends, or maybe yourself. Good luck.

  • The Philosopher

Vince Carter is the greatest dunker in NBA History.

  • StF

    That Was Random…

  • http://www.twitter.com/TheDiesel Anton

I love how the dunk fired him up so much that he actually got in defensive position like he’s gonna lock anybody up 80 feet from the basket

  • http://twitter.com/darrellma dma

    Ooh Vin Baker sighting

  • http://slamonline BossTerry

Vince’s early years were so entertaining to watch.. Still one of my favorite players just for the memories of what he used to do… Not quite as explosive anymore, but still solid player..

  • buccetz714

it was the summer of vince 2000. first the “show” he put on in the bay asg contest then this.. sadly it kinda went downhill…(AT THE TIME HE WAS BETTER THAN KB8)

  • unrel

wait a second.. NOW JUST WAIT… was that VC playing D at the 10 second mark?… i find something new every time i watch this dunk

  • Jake

If there is one player who I’d donate my knees to it would be Vince Carter….well maybe Michael Jordan. I do regret taking VC for granted back in the day when he was throwing down vicious slams night after night.Same with Kenyon Martin. It’s amazing what a few injuries will do to someones game.

  • Will

putain ca c’etait vraiment juste trop ouf!! les pauvres francais…

  • http://www.hibachi20.blogspot.com Hursty

BTW, they’re playing 20 minute halves here, not quarters.
I was outside the stadium when that happened. It was the loudest noise I’d heard since the Opening Ceremony. Tremendous.
    Fantastic Olympics. Love Sydney.

  • spit hot fiyah

vc almost punched the shit out of kg

  • spit hot fiyah

sorry if this is a double post, but check out vince almost knocking kg the f%¤# out

  • http://www.hufsf.com Waylonakolipse

Damn. The NBA needs another Vincanity.

  • WolfNast

  • Overtime

Thanks for the cosigns..exactly, it off-season, give us an old-school jam a day please

  • nastierthanu

New skool cats nobody mentioned Grand Puba

  • http://www.threadsandkicks.com.au Eduardo

Best dunk of all time!!! For 2-3 seasons VC was the man of the NBA. Even though the Laker’s won the championships in those years. VC made Toronto what it is today. Even when you think of the Raptors you still think of Vinsanity and Air Canada as his name, that was years ago.

  • http://www.threadsandkicks.com.au Eduardo

Man is that Vin Baker in a US jersey?

  • marc

Was the USA team in shock because i only see KG celebrating. And is that GP with dreads? lol

  • el_dirty_harry

    Kodak moment a la francaise

  • logues

the two guys at the 24 second mark explain it all

  • logues

haha and vin baker looked like he was bout to celebrate then hurt his back just standing there round 47 seconds

  • Benji

While I agree that this is the best in game dunk ever, check out Kirk Snyder jumping over Von Wafer. It’s not far off. Von actually jumps to block it but Kirk still manages to clear his whole body.

  • Vince5

“Il est passé par dessus!”. It will always be one of the best in-game dunk of all time.

  • rubs93

Love this! But the best in game dunk will always be Scottie on Ewing in the playoffs! Ewing tried to fight it off, Freddie just stood there and took it..

  • http://www.redraidersports.com Nicolas Fleming

GP was without words. That is how you know the dunk was nasty. The Trashtalker himself couldn’t make Weiss feel any worse about the situation, no Jersey Shore.

  • http://www.twitter.com/dfrance21 dfrance

That dunk was the greatest ever. Does anyone remember how up in arms people in the media got about how KG and Vince reacted? Calling them thugs and what not. How do you not react demonstatively after witnessing that dunk?
