Video: Michael Jordan’s Love Of The Game

Take a moment to hear the GOAT speak on his love for the game of basketball. If you approve, browse on over to our friends at CounterKicks. They have similar videos for Chris Paul, Dwyane Wade, Carmelo Anthony and a few others.

Mike was cut from his high school team? I hadn’t heard that.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Eboy

    ^ Haters gonna hate!

  • Jackie Moon

Can’t look at him looking all swollen faced. That’s not MJ.

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

His love of the bottle and blondes is killing him.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Eboy

Jackie/Allen, you guys much be watching another video, this is the youngest Mike has looked since 2000.

  • namik

Same old sh*t, just another year. They should let his legacy breathe a bit.

Perfect sweetness, this commercial. Real good idea for these outdoor basketball shoes too.

  • Yesse

    A very good commercial.

  • peter

So Mike’s a masochist? He fell in love with the pain from being cut?

  • Clownfish31

The kicks at the 0:16 mark are pretty hot!

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

    Eboy
Not in the face. Look at his face, his eyes. Dude needs to stop with the liquor.

  • http://www.kb24.com The Seed

MJ your love of the game, pushed you to play baseball right. Just saying…….

  • Mr. Robinson

    hey, SEED.
Everybody know that stern made mike retire becuz he gambled on games. sh1t let stern say that in public, and nothing exists that gotta do wit pro ball. baseball can do that w/ pete Rose though.
    He aint no jordan. HA!

  • truthteller

@The Seed: The love for the game pushed MJ to return to hoops after playing baseball!

  • Mr. Robinson

    truthteller:
Mike came back after the cover up suspension was lifted. HA!

  • Sparker

kinda sleepy, actually. and that composer owes money to de la soul (unless they’re down for the music).

  • Jose

Maybe i’m mis matching, but don’t CP3 look a lil bit like carlton form Fresh Prince in his pic on the link?lol

  • Jose

    from* my bad

  • EJ

His father’s death made him play baseball and his love for basketball made him come back.

  • Mr. Robinson

  • Scottie Pimpin

we love the game, cuz the game loves us.

  • JTaylor21

THERE IS STILL NO G.O.A.T. Also no matter how great the marketing is, ugly shoes still will be ugly. Ever since the 14s, MJB has taken a nosedive.

  • http://www.threadsandkicks.com.au Eduardo

MJ ads are always cool. Got to agree with JTaylor some of the recent Jordan’s that have come out have looked a bit ordinary, especially his signature shoes. At times Melo’s or CP3 Jordan editions look better than Jordan’s annual shoe. I guess Jordan always tries to come out with something different as he’s got so many shoes now.

I hate when people say when Mike got cut he was so motivated and a year after he was hanging in the air, dunking of 7 foot dudes and blowing by defenders with ease… Thats not that case, Mike had the ability to do those things when he was cut but he didn’t have basketball skill, once he learned how to dribble, defend, shoot and all the other fundamentals of basketball he was the best right away because he was that athletic.

  • Overtime

Chris Paul has always looked like Carlton

  • The Fresh Prince of Nsam

    H.A.T.E! What a great summer u r having.

  • http://lastknickstanding.blogspot.com Bryan

Jordan probably schools those dudes on the regular. And if that’s Mike Bibby in there there’s a problem.

  • http://www.rich-imaging.com Dutch Rich

Love of the game clause in his contract. Nobody can tell you when to play, when not to play. That’s dope.

  • Ali

    MOTIVATION…DRIVE…LEADERSHIP…MENTOR…TEAMMATE..KILLER INSTINCS ON THE COURT…HEARTLESS ON THE COURT…STUDENT…TEACHER…PASSION…UPs…DOWNs… FAILURES…HEARTACHES…DISSAPOINTMENTS…BREAK THROUGHS…CHAMPION!

These 20+ year old NBA ballers could learn a thing or two from mike about basketball, if they would actually take the time to study and listen. It ain’t just about the shoes and logo clothing. On the court he was head and shoulders above the rest!

  • C.A

How many more times will he milk this? Didn’t the athletic trainer come out awhile ago and say he DIDN’T get cut?

  • Ali

@ C.A. well whatever he had inside him motivating him from N.C. to the Bulls was something serious. Don’t know of a more meaner dude on the court!

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

He got cut from varsity, not JV. That’s the story.

btw saying theres no G.O.A.T. is just ignorant and reeks of blatant haterade

and he retired cuz his pops died and kept a promised, came back when he realized he sucked at baseball and basketball is his true calling, drop the whole conspiracy crap.

its a nice commercial and he does look younger, i dont see the whole booze killing in his eyes but he does need to lay back on the juice,

his life is pure motivation though. I like the other one with Be, with Common on the track from a few years ago

  • Mr. Robinson

^^calm down there, guns of the navarone.
    HA!

  • http://shinefluid@aol.com CHI-TOWN SAID IT JOE

MJ= GOAT….FACE IT THE NUMBERS AND ACCOLADES DONT LIE. HE PROBABLY THE REASON YOU EVEN WATCH BASKETBALL TODAY

  • http://slamonline.com Yknot

His HOF speech is motivating a comeback by Bryon Russell.

  • http://www.slamonline.com/ The Promise

I’m beginning to skip every comment JTaylor21 makes.

  • The Fresh Prince of Nsam

    @ Ali 237: Great piece, agreed 100%.

  • PapaBearATL

No GOAT? Really? If there wasn’t a Micheal Jordan, Karl Malone, Reggie Miller, Patrick Ewing and a lot of other ‘great’ ball players would probably be rocking some championship jewelry. They were great, but they had to compete against the Greatest Of All Time. Please quit with the hate? He’s a grown man, if he can afford the booze, the blondes and the gambling, that’s his business not ours. 3K suits and enough money to buy a B-ball team, he seems like he’s doing alright to me. How many of you bloggers have those same vices and pray you can make rent?

  • Robb

@The Promise don’t do that. Be democratic. Read what stupid people have to say too.

  • ai come back

@Pardeep uh he was 5 9 when he got cut……

  • http://www.slamonline.com/ niQ

The person who cut him came out and said Jordan got cut because he was trying out for the senior team when he wasn’t old enough yet.

  • http://www.slamonline.com/ niQ

Jordan was a sophomore or something only.

  • http://www.slamonline.com/online/media/slam-tv/2010/08/video-michael-jordans-love-of-the-game/ notblack

@niq he got cut cuz he wasent TALL enough. And Melo mentions in his commercail that he likes the sound of his hand against the leather of the ball. Lmfo.
