As a matter of fact, if you didn’t know Austin Rivers was in high school, it wouldn’t be a stretch to imagine him on the court with the pros.

This guy’s got the complete package. More than just crossing over John Wall at Elite 24. Where Jeremiah at?
Good job Doc
Hes such a beast. Best scoring guard since Kobe. (Durant doesnt count hes a forward).
only thing that troubles me is that he’s only 6’3″. not many 6’3″ 2 guards in the L. he’ll have to transform like Steph Curry.
Love his game. I’m going to steal some of those moves haha.
Maybe he’ll play for his pops hometown team. I hope so.
he has excellent arc on his J, but I didn’t see him use his left hand once in that video.
Nice inside-outside game he has.
Damn at .33 seconds they are treating him like he’s Moses and they’re the red sea.
I don’t know man. I’m sure he’ll be good but look at the soft defence he’s playing against. In due time though…
@ktokyo-it does look like all those highlights were in the confines of a practice.
Jeremiah Rivers gets noo love..but with a younger brother like that..he better start showing off at IU (bloomington, Indiana) this year to steal some shine..but i won’t hate..congradulate Doc & his wife..there whole family is athletes!!
He Nice no doubt , aint got a left hand though.
his offense is silly polished and yes @Jalepino he does have a left hand. Only two questions about the kid, defense, and as well from the AAU games I watched of him he seems to be a chucker…either way, he’ll get the kinks ironed out- he’s definitely on the fast track to the league….I’m just wondering where hes gonna go..million dollar question I guess…folks say Duke but I don’t see it…it’ll be interesting
I remember folks laughing when I compared him to a slighter Deron Williams….tell me I’m lying though
needs some d if he got a good stopper on any of his teams then he would be sick all he needs a good defensive team
lol folks half of these highlights came from the Elite 24 and pro-am scrimmage…gosh…
limited hops it seems… but would make a great combo guard if he can make the transition to point guard play
I would take him over John Wall right now. BOOK IT!!!
I would take him over John Wall right now. BOOK IT!!!
Then you don’t know a thing about ball…
Rivers is going to come out of retiremen in 2 years to coach his son! BOOK IT!
no left hand
His sister is bad though!!! LOL
Lets not hype this up too much or anything…..It never ceases to amaze me the modern BBall fan’s tendency to jump on some teenagers jock and hail him as the second coming.
Splittin wigs with that pull up J.
he does have a left hand? how? every time it showed him driving left he finished with his right hand like it was a reverse instead of just going straight up left (and they weren’t even playing defense). but his offense is impressive, but he won’t get away with that in the L when he comes in.
@The Seed, you would give Kahn a run for his money as the worst GM ever, damn. Rivers over Wall right now, HAHA HAAAAA.
agreed JT folks need to chill out with all that noise. Austin Rivers is not a natural PG, at this point he’s just an absurdly ball-dominant 2-guard. I won’t call him a ball hog, but watching him in the Orlando Showcase he showed some chucker-like tendencies…pulling up for 24 footers and what not. But like I said if you want to take him now, all your getting is a guy who doesn’t have the tools to run a team, and who hasn’t shown the ability to be great without the ball….whoever would say they would take him over John Wall RIGHT NOW is completely fooling themselves. John Wall is a one-man break, a terror in the open court, and a guy who’s court vision has been terribly underplayed, heres a guy who can have a lousy stat-line or a bad night from the field and still be the MVP of the game.
@ arjae828: He has more of the all around game to him though compared to Curry, he’ll be quite good in the L…
but as far as offensive talent goes…..it don’t get no betta…the kid has squabbles!!! I mean I was talking about him pulling up from 24 feet out and what not, but the kid was DRAINING them. He’s got that kind of range and a great handle to boot.
He DOES not have more of an all-around game than Curry. I thought Curry disproved all the knocks against him last season.
He should go on the Celtics once he is done in college so he can be coached by his Dad and be around the greatest team ever CELTICS, if he goes to The Lakers he will betray his Dad Doc.(plus L.A. Sucks)
Does he have a left hand ? never finishes with it at the rim, all right
His crossover is gnarlz
also, straighten the elbows on ur J, Jeremiah’s bro
Where’s the video, they said Brandon Jennings was doin him up and talkin and Rivers couldnt do nuthin back….i wanna see that video…..MYCK KABONGO..MYCK KABONGO…MYCK KABONGO
@Arthur who said that? Must of been a hater…
Tavoris, I watched the video and noticed the same thing. I can’t see Doc letting his son have that kind of hole in his game, so maybe it was just the wrong collection of clips.
No he doesn’t. The form on his j is really poor. He’ll need to do a lot of work on it before people will respect it. Also, I’m not sure that he’s all that athletic certainly for NBA level. Another example of hype before fact.
@OneStep-his balance is a little off, but his form is actually pretty good, considering he was always shooting off the dribble. He has great arc and rotation, and his shot is soft. Shooting won’t be an issue for the lil dude.
The thing that concerns me is his predictability. Any halfway decent defender in the NBA should make him uncomfortable. DRAG HANDS, PEOPLE!!! He’s getting by because he’s clearly more athletic & talented than most other high schoolers.
If i was Doc Rivers i would be afraid cos Austin could make him more famous for being Austin Rivers Dad than as a NBA player and ring winning Coach
U guys are nuts. Rivers has the best offensive game since Kobe for a guard. U guys dont understand Rivers puts pressure on the defense every play. Hes a go getter on the court and someone u can rely on to get u points when u need them. He will be a 25 ppg scorer in the NBA.
At least this proves how far down the league has gone. Almost every single good high school player is “nba ready”. If this was the 90′s these kids wouldn’t even be looked at.
