Nike and their ad agency Wieden+Kennedy deliver the goods (as always) on the eve of the regular season kick-off. You’ll have to view it on YouTube for the time being. Enjoy.

commercial is as whack as the decision.. i expected more from nike.

  • http://www.kb24.com The Seed

Thanks Eboy, you will never agree with me when I am right, Sports show today even pointed out what I stated today hater.

  • The Fresh Prince of Nsam

@The Seed, clap clap (sarcasm). Book it!

  • Blackphantom

ok, I get it now thanks man. I also can’t wait to see how Barkley reacts. And I also agree with your statement at 8:11

  • steveo

No you should just quit again in the playoffs… still a loser.

  • Dre

The Seed, that is BS about Kobe and MJ. If the Cavs would have gotten the players that they originally tried for instead of plan B players who knows what could have happened in Cleveland. I mean they didn’t get Amare so they gave him Jamison. I mean even the Cav’s office said we tried to get him the players he asked for but it didn’t workout. Pay attention people they are telling you righ there that they did not get the right players. MJ’s team brought the talent he asked for to the team. I can guarantee you with MJ’s ego he would have hit the road if the Bulls wouldn’t have brought him what he needed. We know Kobe would have left because he threatened to leave. Magic was there with Kareem and Worthy. Bird was with Parrish and McHale so their comments are just dead. It is easier to get real stars to Miami or LA or any big market city… try Cleveland? Lets stop hating on Lebron and be logical. Where ever Lebron goes he will be the most dominant force on the court and will be doing the leading. KG said if he had known what he knows now he would have left Minn sooner… that doesn’t make him a coward does it? If so why hasn’t anyone called him that? No it makes him and Lebron smart not being brainwashed by the likes of Barkley and others that don’t practice what they preach.

  • JTaylor21

The seed, so by your moronic logic Kareem lost out on his chance at being the GCOAT when he went to LA, Shaq also lost out on that chance when he went to LA, KG lost out on his chance at being one of the GPFOAT by going to BOS? WHAAAAAAAT? You can’t be serious, when great players change teams, they’re STILL great players, hell when Moses Malone left HOU and joined Dr.J and the sixers he won his second straight MVP award, so he was still the same dominating Malone, the only thing that changed was the area code. So kill that noise about Bron losing out on cementing his so-called legacy by staying in that dump they call cleveland, he was a GREAT player with the cavs and will be a BETTER player with the heat because now he can focus on maximizing his GREATEST attribute; Passing.

  • http://www.need4sheed.com Tarzan Cooper

Dre made a great point about kg

  • http://sdjklff.com Jukai

You know, there is a difference between hating a player and HATING a player.
I hate Kobe because I feel his fans hype him too much. He’s not the best player anymore. He hasn’t been for two-three years. That doesn’t mean I don’t consider him a top-7 player of all-time. That doesn’t mean I don’t think he’s the closest thing to MJ we’ve ever had, and I actually got crap for pointing out that Kobe was on PAR with MJ in terms of getting buckets.
But I still hate MJ with a passion.
I dislike Iverson too. I think too many people have given him a pass and they continue to make excuses for Detroit and Memphis and WORST of all his second stint in Phili, which I found damn near unforgivable. I still think Iverson can be a starter in the L. I still feel Iverson is one of the premier guards of all time, and could have easily won a championship as the man had he been surrounded by talent.
But I still dislike Iverson because of his fans.
Not gonna say who, but I feel a lot of you guys HATE certain players. HATE them to the point where you look down at them, insult their skills, insult their legacies.
And maybe I’m the same. Maybe because I say I’d take Magic and Bird over Kobe, I HATE Kobe. Maybe because I’d take Drexler over Iverson, I HATE Iverson. Maybe it’s all perspective, in the end.
But I still say some of you guys just HATE.

  • Harrell

Nice real good look, gotta love Nike!

  • http://www.kb24.com The Seed

PEOPLE, Lebron left the Cavs because he wanted to, His team had the best record two straight years in a row and was heavy favorites to make it the NBA finals vs. the Lakers. The Cavs got upsetted twice the last two years. Lebron is looking at Kobe get his and feels the only way for him to compete is to jump ship. Most great players leave because team suck, management issues or scared to be a leader. Lebron left because he couldn’t handle the pressure. Lebron was being compared to the greatest players of all time, so him going out like this to another mans CITY to play is LOL. YOu can be his fan, but come on, who does that. No superstar in their prime walked away from their team to play with others to win rings like that, you tell me who else that like Lebron. His team was good, Lebron couldn’t carry. KObe did want out, but he was playing with Smush, Kwame, Walton is starting lineup. DIFFERENT ALso Shaq was never going to be considered greatest ever for player all time. So he doesn’t mater and Moses Malone sure was not going to be considered greatest ever, Lebron was on the path were people felt he could be considered greatest ever, he missed it with this PUNK MOVE. BOOK IT!!

  • Favio

Jukai your an idiot you just said you hate when people hat players yet you just stated you hate Kobe MJ and Iverson, that WHOLE statement is ONE big contradiction

  • Jose

Just by looking at the Image on the video reminds me of the tiger woods commercial also done by nike. lol Nike sure can do work

  • http://www.need4sheed.com Tarzan Cooper

Seed, who made you think cavs were ‘heavy favorites’ to get to the finals? Anybody with a keen basketball eye could see that team was majorly flawed. They flourished in the regular season feasting on weak eastern teams. They would have been a 6 seed in the west. I hope this fact doesnt ‘upsetted’ you, Dunce.

  • IAMORANGE4EVER

That is a GREAT ad by NIKE, and LeBron did a heck of a job making it. I’d rather see an ad like that, than some silly puppets.

  • http://www.kb24.com The Seed

    @Tarzan
Are you serious, they had the best record in the NBA, beat down my Lakers and everybody else in the NBA. The Cavs won all the big games and got ran over in the Playoffs, Lebron couldn’t do it. Celtics had their number thats it, Magic had their number the season before thats it. They were favorites by all NBA Anaylst to make it to NBA Finals. You must don’t watch PTI, Around the Horn, NBA TV, TNT or any basketball show to not know this. BOOK THAT!!

    Regarding your 6:18 p.m. comment;
Did not Moses get led to the promised land?
Why cannot The King be “led” to “the promised land?”

And, the ad enforces the notion that LeBron is The King and can do whatever he so chooses.

Lebron can be led to promise land, but he will help too.

  • James aka…

I find there is too much passion associated with an issue that doesn’t actually matter. We passionately debate sports as though they matter. Now I’m not saying an issue can’t be debated, but it should be very detatched and reasonable considering what is at stake, which is nothing.

Now to the issues at hand. I initially felt that Bosh made the right move but Lebron was being a lazy competitor: Looking for a situation with two all-NBA guys. As many have pointed out though, many other players, including barkley (who i love in spite of it all) engineered trades that were essentially the same as what Lebron has done here. They didn’t quite do it in their primes, but so what? Demanding a move to a better situation is the same. Moreover if we value these players as we do (which is way too much), we should be gratified that they get to control their own destinies as they have here. We have all experimented with super rosters on our Video game consoles now and then so lets see what happens when a real one is assembled. I remember rooting for portland when they had one of the deepest 1-12s i’ve ever seen, and anyone who wants to see great athletes compete together will have what they’ve always dreamed of. I refuse to believe that they or I are somehow deficient for cheering for this, since its the sprot we watch, not the personality.

All that being said, it must be pointed out that yes, the decision both in it conception and execution was a massive orgy of self love that should be condemned (mildly though since again it doesn’t actually matter). Narcism and self-centredness should always be looked down upon. Secondly and in my opinion much more egregiously is the issue of racism that was brought into the debate. considering the actualy legacy of slavery in racism in north america, a terrible curse that we’ve now lived with for centuries, the trivializing of the notion of racism because you’re catching flack from other collegues are mostly the same race as you, as well as your disgruntled former employer is deeply disgusting and offensive. I’m sure there are a fair number of vicious individuals far worse than lebron, that have used the opportunity to call him a n—er for switching teams, and they should be condemned much more loudly for they are dangerous idiots, but to say that you are being judged because of race, not because you made a controversial personnel move, is willfully ignorant and trivializes the real racism that many people still experience today (sorry to sound repetative). So the bottom line is, its his decision to make, its not a big deal he did what he wanted, its kind of a big deal that he’s an egomaniac and crybaby at the same time about it. We have to remember that except in my town, relatively no one is saying anything about bosh moving to Miami.

On the other hand, if i though lebron was an irreamable jerk, i think he would have been caught planning the 2011 championship parade complete with predictions of a 74 win season and a fo fo fo fo playoff march.

  • Groves

LOVE IT! take that haters! sorry cleveland hahahahahaha

  • IAMORANGE4EVER

Kobe was a PUNK from 2004-2007: he chucked the Lakers out of the Finals against the Pistons, got Phil Jackson to retire, chased Shaq away, then he pouted when he found out he couldn’t win on his own – during the time period Kobe was trying to prove he could win without a dominant big man, as Jim Buss once said, “like the Jordan years.” Yes, those years for Kobe didn’t work out to well, but hey, Kobe didn’t have to leave for the “promised land” after he played his part creating that mess, because after Kobe threw a hissy fit, the Lakers got the Gasol Gift (favor from Jerry West), and Free Fish. Please Seed, don’t let facts get in the way of your anti-LeBron message. Bottom line, Kobe was more a punk during his 20′s than LeBron has been thus far by a landslide. It’s a good thing the Jazz let Fisher out of that contract so he could be leadership training wheels for your “boy” Kobe.

  • BBaller

Not a role model?, sure not to adults like myself, but if he is to selfish to acknowledge the responsibility he has for younger people then he is the ungrateful, spoilt little child. As a basketballer he is limitless and incredible, as a person he is everything that the rest of the world hates about America.

  • http://www.bulls.com Enigmatic

    DON JOHNSON!!

  • BBaller

Brilliant Ad by Nike though, but sorry i’m not that gullible to have my opinion changed by a little flashy advertising aka spin. All Lebron did was just pay the money for some wiz advertising guru at nike to cleanse his PR.He still didn’t show any humility, only more self indulgence, why do Americans like that sort of stuff? Tim Duncan, who is my favorite and most respected player doesn’t get anywhere near the coverage yet behaves much better and classy.Sorry I usually save the “hate” for flopping, cheating, adverts in timeouts, and bad refereeing but Lebron did disappoint me and he continues to do so, no more PR Lebron, save your actions for the court. The only place where i really like to judge you.

  • BBaller

I do apologize for generalizing about all “Americans”. I have been to America, and just like every country, they are all not alike, and have many different views on many different topics, aswell they were lovely people and sometimes not so nice, just like everywhere.Peace

There’s also something that cannot be ignored with this ad: LeBron is saying eff you, I don’t give a ish what you think to all players/analysts/media. He’s very self-aware in making it perfectly clear that he understands what is being asked of him and what he is being criticized for. At the same, he also makes it perfectly clear that none of it matters to him. Right now, he’s teflon (on and off the court) and he knows it. / It makes me think of a Kobe quote when he was talking to an up and coming scorer (can’t remember who) and telling him “when people will tell you that you shoot too much, you have to be able to say eff it and just keep doing what you do”.

You should win a ring and thank wade/bosh. you should stop whining about the situation you created then disappear. Just do it.

  • Ronald

Not that great. It started to gain steam, then tried to be self-deprecating but wasn’t very funny. Lebron isn’t a great actor unfortunately, or at least he’s not very good a putting on a voice. Sounded weird.

  • http://slamonline.com Brad Long

    Meh.

    The Seed,
I disagree at the laughable comments you make. It’s clear to see that you have attachment issues when it comes to Kobe Bryant. You probably still have his poster on your wall. Let me help enlighten you a little bit, since the plethora of previous comments posted by others did not seem to generate synapses in your brain. Even though the Cavaliers had the best regular season record, that does not mean they were a dominant post-season team. Firstly, their team was not a great team, as others pointed out to you. If you compared them to the Celtics, Lakers and Magic, it’s no surprise they did not come out of the league on top. As a Torontonian, I can say that our organization did not give Chris Bosh enough to win. I’ve witnessed it year after year. So why can’t you notice that the Cavaliers did not do the same for Lebron. If you look at Kobe’s success he has had a stacked team every year he has won a ring. For goodness sake, the Lakers lost to the suns in the playoffs and no one bashed Kobe for his “closeness” to MJ then. It’s plain and simple, great players don’t do it alone. They never had and never will. Many analysts stated that Kobe will elevate his game when he wins without Shaq, but does it diminish his game that he won with Gasol and Odom then? Not to me, but maybe if you use the same criteria in which you are judging LeBron, then you may realize that your hero’s poster needs to come down from your wall.

Wow nice commercial spot… Thats what I’m talking about Nike. I ain’t gonna buy the shoes but brand repair for lebron is under way I guess

  • http://itsahardwoodlife.blogspot.com omphalos

Eh, I think the Cavaliers would have preferred a championship over seven years of “fun”. This ad really has no impact on my view of Lebron, they are trying too hard to repair his image right now that the ad is just transperant. It’s a marked contrast to the idiocy Lebron has been spouting all summer and just too hard to swallow for me. Also, what the hell is this ad actually advertising? The only product they are selling is Lebron really, and I’m not buying it. Wow, that turned into a bit of a rant, blame it on the university work I’m stuck doing.

  • Nashty

Hey Lebron, you should average a triple double this season and win 5 championships in a row, then people would forgive you.

  • dave19

MK, there is no team that wins back to back 60w seasons, and is not fantastic. Get over that. They hustled, they scrapped, they shot teams apart. Mo Williams, near Christmas, took the Lakers apart. They were the best team in the league, and once again choked in the 7 game series against a great team. Not a better, team, but the Cavaliers issues lie in the fact that no one held them together. They got scared as a team and lost their identity. Not against the Magic; that was just a team having ridiculous, improbable mismatches against the Cavs. The Celtics though… That is where you know they failed. They were still the team most likely to beat every other team in the league in a 1 game match up. I also think Mike Brown was too adamant in the playoffs to play Shaq. Frankly, the Cavaliers BEAT the Lakers and Celtics in the normal match ups because Varejao and Hickson hustle their bums of every night and battle… They bothered Bynum, KG, Gasol, Perkins, and all of that lot. Baby Davis was the only once who was usually effective, because he just gets even more aggressive then them with his own energy. But seriously, if Brown plays Hickson at the 4, brings Antawn off the bench, and lets the Cavs play the basketball the way they played all season, then I think the Cavs are the champions. They had an identity crisis, and it was Mike Browns fault. Danny Ferry gave up after the season after all of it. Granted, I do think LeBron quit against the Celtics too, but I think that has a lot to do with Brown wrecking the team. I think he gave up on the team more than was maliciously trying to make them fail so he could leave.. Mike Brown screwed the pooch.

  • Eric

Hey Nashty, Lebron isn’t asking for your forgiveness.

  • Randy

So, other than Barkley and Jordan, who else is Lebron taking shots at here? I’m trying to decide on some, and I think other parts are going over my head. Any thoughts people? By the way Cleveland fans-like Lebron said, get over it already.

  • http://slamonline.com MVPballer

Shit, I’m happ Lebrons angry, that just means he’s gonna play twice as good.

  • Coney Islander

i liked how serious it was at first but he made it more of a joke once that villain coyboy stuff came up. Could’ve been better. I don’t hate on LeBron though, I did the same thing this summer. Leaving a program that was really started once I got there but sometimes players run out of time at a program to get the championship, i didnt want to waste another year hoping we’d even get past districts.

  • Dre

Iamorange4ever, is exactly right about Kobe. Also the only punk move would be to stay in a stituation that the team is unable to get you the correct personnel. That would be a stupid and a punk move. Why no one is dogging KG for his move and his stance on his moves proves that the Lebron haters lose all credibility.

  • Dre

BBaller, that is the problem… wanting athletes to be a role model for being an athlete. That is the most neglectful and irresponsible thing a parent can do. A person should be considered a role model because they are a good father or mother, or a good citizens, for the people that they help and for being honest and hard-working. If that happens to be an athlete fine but it is an idiot move for parents to condone their kids seeing athletes as role models because they play a sport. The athlete can be someone to aspire to be like on the court, or playing field but chose a role model for the good they do in society.

Also, I like the commercial because he is simply saying, I understand why some of you are upset with me. I can be everything for everybody… I am going to do what is best for me, my career, and my family. Any real man or woman should understand and respect that.

  • PapaBearATL

I don’t believe the HOF seen was a shot at MJ, since the ‘Decision’ media types have been saying he has ruined his legacy. If/when the HOF time comes for him, will the Decision be a factor if he has 7 rings in 10 years(exaggeration)? My dad always said when you become succesful, don’t make any new friends and watch the ones you have. When you have his status how can you think anyone that didn’t know you before you were rich has authentic feelings for you with no motive. Do it your way like Ol’ Blue Eyes, live life unapologetic, follow YOUR bliss, in the end only your personal happiness matters. You can’t make everyone happy all the time and no matter how ‘Biblical’ his moniker is, he is still just a man and is allowed/expected to make mistakes. If the worst mistake you ever made in your life was picking the wrong format to tell your employer you’re leaving, you’ve lived a pretty good life. Chuck went to Houston for a reason, he just didn’t get what he wanted. Jordan had a great supporting cast, Magic had all-star support on his team, does it really matter HOW they got on the team?

  • Dre

    PapaBearATL Amen!
