Video: Elton Brand Flagrantly Fouls JaVale McGee

Brand — who can expect a fine from the League, at the very least — says he didn’t intend for McGee to fall so awkwardly here. Extra points for JaVale waving goodbye to Elton as he writhed in pain on the floor:

On the floor in pain, waving bye to Brand, oh yeah, he still made the dunk lmao!

that’s pretty funny. i like what i’ve seen from mcgee this year. he’s super active and could be nice with wall for a while. i would agree that wasn’t intentional. it seemed more like an old man just trying to stop a young kid from sh*tting on him.

  • underdog

Man, that was dirty. I wouldn’t have expected something like this form a player who had to sit out several(?) seasons because of an injury. I hope they fine his stupid @ss.

  • oinestep

    plain and simple…… dirty

  • benno

his booty took a battering, lol. jews just wanna have fun!

  • MUBWAR

this is a flagrant 1 at most. I hate this stupid refs.

man, he keeps impressing…. hat to say i told u so

I dont know how one person interpreted this as jews wanting to have fun while another decided that this was only a flagrant 1. But it is clear Brand made no play on the ball and his goal was to harm McGee. That is worthy of getting tossed.

I’m with BETCATS, how can you look at that play and conclude that 1. it wasn’t dirty, and 2. it was at most a flagrant 1?

I’m all for hard fouls, but he 2 arm shoved a guy that was in the air totally defenseless. If Javale wasn’t 7ft and didn’t have that great leaping ability, the landing would have been way worse. And Brand is not a dirty player, I like him, but that was a dirty play. And on top of all of that HE STILL GOT CRAMMED ON!

the announcer said: “it was a flagrant foul…I think” I mean was there even a doubt???

  • vtrobot

You can make no play on the ball and not flagrantly foul someone (wrap them up on a fast break/hack someone’s arm or shoulder to stop them from going up for a layup). This one of those flagrants that’s because of how the person landed, not because of the type of foul that was given. Happy Thanksgiving everyone. I’m most thankful for the troops. Peace.

I agree it did look like a frustrated old timer foul. I don’t think his intention was to harm McGee, but to stop him from finishing (which he still managed to do). And for real, how much pain could that cat be in? He waved goodbye! Dirty foul, but I don’t think it warrants an ejection.

I don’t recall ever seeing a player responding more splendidly to an obvious flagrant 2 before. Funny man, this McGee.

  • JTaylor21

McGee is turning into a beast this year and leads the L in blocks, DHow who?

  • barnabusb

I like JaVale despite his desperate attempts to be on the USA squad.

Elton Brand did what Chris Bosh didn’t do against Rondo.

  • TDotLove

Look at Wall after the pass.

  • youngmuggsy

To be fair to Brand a swift breeze could knock McGee to the ground.

  • http://hibachisabas.blogspot.com/ Toni Kukoc

that was a scum move by Brand!
no wonder he never gets respect inside the game!

  • http://hibachisabas.blogspot.com/ Toni Kukoc

@All Day, uhhh he did exactly the same thing…but way worse…put down the pipe and put on some glasses

  • http://hibachisabas.blogspot.com/ Toni Kukoc

@MUBWAR, this is min F2, sorry that you have never be able to feel how it is to be even slightly touched while high in the air, thats exactly what Rondo was trying to tell the ref after the CB-None dunk.

Glorious response by Javale, simply glorious. The bah-byeee wave had me in stitches.

  • jakedouglasroberts

this site’s randoms are hysterical at times. maybe it’s my sense of humor, but i nearly pissed myself laughing at the off-hand “i’m most thankful for the troops” line up there.

also, javale is the MOST athletic big in the L right now. not dwight, not blake.

  • http://slamonline.com Ugh

A professional foul is contact that prevents a player scoring (or otherwise going about his game business). That move wasn’t designed to stop a player scoring, it was designed to push him out of the air. Plays like that can cause Bogut type injuries in a heartbeat. That’s not professional, he deserves the ejection.

  • All Day

@ Toni Kukoc: he did exactly the same thing…but way worse…if it was way worse then it wasn’t exactly the same thing you moron!

  • Anon e Mouse

Oh all right then, I’ll mediate. All Day 1 – Toni Kukoc 0.

    And yep it was dirty.

  • The Philosopher

    Washed up ass.
Cannot stand when a guy who is as washed up AND as finished as Brand does something like this.
    Brand:
Your time is done, man. Get over it. Don’t get mad at the young fella because YOU were an hour late on the rotation.
    Chump.
