Video: Tyreke Evans Drains Half Court Game-Winner

O.J. Mayo was less than two seconds away from being a hero. Alas, Tyreke Evans had other plans:

STFU BIGI. lakers would have celebrated like that if lobe hit that shot. …. celtics if paul hit it, shtt celts had a bigger celebration in the garden when they beat knicks

  • KennyD

    Mayo: travelling
Kings: happy with a narrow win over the Grizz? set some higher goals people

  • http://thephotoriot.com davidR

is that donte greene jumping around on the court from off the bench before the shot went in? hilarious

  • Slips

Sad that some of you can’t just enjoy a great finish to a game, instead poking fun at the teams.

  • Ali Saadat

Very Jerry West-esque except it’s worth 3 and he was a little closer. Nice none the less.

Looking at the replay for the first time, it looks like the dude in the Kings sweat-top jumps out onto the court before the buzzer goes off (1.35 onswards).
Then after the 5th replay I still can’t see whether the bench light goes red before he steps onto the floor.
If he DOES – does that make the shot illegitimate?
Regardless, that was a heck of a play sequence by Mayo and Evans.

Okay, now go out on a high and shut him down until he’s healthy.

  • http://kb24.com Bigi

Tarzan: Hahaha, celebrated YES but jumpin’ to the scores table? That is for the POSTseason…better yet, when you win a championship.

  • http://kb24.com Bigi

Tarzan: Hahahaha, celebrating YES, but jumpin on the scores table is for the POSTseason. Or better yet, when you win a Championship, ay?

  • http://kb24.com Bigi

    Sorry for the double post!

  • Dagger

  • http://www.hoopsvibe.com/features/overdribbling chiqo

who’s the chick with the orange hair who decided she wanted to try and celebrate with the team?

  • http://slamonline.com AlbertBarr

Wow. I had a little too much Gin last night and fell asleep for the last 4 minutes of the game…dammit.

  • http://thephotoriot.com davidR

bigi, why do you care so much about how they celebrate? it was an amazing finish, let them live the moment. i never knew jumping on the scorers table was reserved only for the playoffs.
would you prefer they yawn and give golf claps?

  • http://slamonline.com AlbertBarr

LOL@davidR. Golf CLaps would be pretty funny actually.

  • http://www.slamonline.com J

    golf claps lol.

  • http://www.twiter.com/dfrance21 dfrance21

Yall are some of the most nitpicky posters I’ve seen. analyzing everything but the two great shots that were made. And OJ takes 2 dribbles and then 2 steps, where is the travel?

  • http://slamonline.com walt williams

When your team has lost 7 in a row and is mired in a season full of unrealized expectations and bickering amongst coaches and players alike, a freaking buzzer beating halfcourt shot is reason to celebrate. All the frustration of the season got to come out, if but only for a moment. Also, DMC impressed all with 21 and 16, going doughy toe to doughy toe with Marc Gasol..

  • namik

    These damn Jordan wannabes…

  • http://twitter.com/BeezKneezy LA Huey

Basketball Gods were just rectifying the no-call on Mayo. The celebration was pure joy and very amusing. Happy for Sacto and their fans.

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

Wasn’t Reke supposed to be guarded by Mayo on that last shot? If you notice mayo hits the runner then forgets the kings have no timeouts and doesntbpick up full court.

  • http://kb24.com Bigi

davidR: Why ya hatin’ on golf claps?

  • http://www.slamonline.com J

I don’t think Mayo travelled. I could be wrong. Poor video quality.
    And I agree with Allen.

  • http://www.twiter.com/dfrance21 dfrance21

    @J he didn’t travel, 2 dribbles and 2 steps.

I think the Grizz all ran back to the paint to prevent a long pass since there was only a second left.

  • http://www.kb24.com The Seed

He made a lucky shot and won a game that has no playoff implications, but lottery implications. Kings needed to lose this game to make sure they have a better chance of winning the draft lottery. Too bad they won and acted like they just won a ring as Kings. BOOK IT!!

  • http://slamonline.com The Black Rick Kamla

    where amazing happens

  • http://slamonline.com The Black Rick Kamla

    @justbcuz exactly fam

  • logues

reminds me of myself back in highschool ha

  • http://slamonline.com rudy

We went crazy cuz that shot was insane. Especially after thinking oj just won it for them. Sure it meant nothing to the outsider other than a highlight, but that was a reason to be happy in a season full of disappointment. And we are still in last place so our bad record and lottery chances are still in tact :)

  • fitzy

i don’t see that 2nd dribble anywhere, even in the HD video

  • http://www.need4sheed.com Tarzan Cooper

Donte greene is funny, as soon as tyreke lets it go, donte is on the court celebrating, like he saw the angle, and knew it was going in. … How stupid would he have looked if the shot smashed into the backboard?. Great games by zbo and big cuz

Reke the freak, back at work… for old times sake: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SrF0oE94yIg

  • Erdet Loshi

The most meaningless half court game-winner in NBA history…

  • http://klatschendom.wordpress.com/ speedy

Celebrate, if you win a close game especially if you lost so many close games like the Kings.
It’s totally understandable. Everybody who doesn’t understand that is fan of a playoffbound team.

  • robb

@speedy I’m a fan of a playoff bound team and I totally get it. I’d say those who don’t understand the reaction, don’t understand the game of basketball at all.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Clyde

Where amazing happens lol. That must have been incredibly disheartening for O.J. Mayo.

  • Shem

That logic is flawed. Teams that are having bad seasons can turn it around and make the playoffs. This wasn’t a shot that would hurt them in the lottery this shot got them that much closer to the playoffs. Im no Kings fan but your not out.. until your out

  • http://slamonline.com Ugh

I can’t believe anyone is having an argument in here. You people are clowns.

  • tevin

Thats SACRAMENTO! i doubt any other fan base in the nba would have cheered like they won the championship when they only won their 6th game in late December like that.
